The reason they were raided is because Indymedia is filled with, and used by anarchists. Obviously a more micro level reason is being used but this the larger reason.
Where are the intelligent people pointing out how ridiculous most of these arguments are.
Flying cars will not have pilots. They will be guided by computers. Who in their right mind would make a company to build these things if the tests required to drive them are, not surprisingly going to be so difficult. Not much profit in that.
Unlike today's cars the auto-mechanic service industry will have to be fairly non-existant. Failure in the air creates a much more desperate situation for the passengers, so inherently very sophisticated self diagnostic system will have to be created.
These two hurdles are large, but certainly not impossible. If all the money that is being wasted on the continual effort to squeeze out a few extra kilometers per gallon on normal car engines was put into researching ways we could get over these two hurdles there might be a chance of a serious prototype in ten years... or maybe we could just have a sustainable car! Surprising the auto-gas industry isn't hard at work on that!
The majority of comments generated by this post are absolutely laughable. I'm just going to make some general and or blanket statements because I know no one here is going to take the time to apply any critical thinking skills.
#1, CrimeThinc IS AN ANARCHIST GROUP, or more correctly a collective. They have also divided the anarchist community a lot in recent history, for reasons unrelated to this post.
#2, Direct Action, as the old saying goes... gets the goods. Everyone who claims that taking direct action whether it be some hacktivist act or throwing tea in a harbor is counter-productive is probably not such a good historian.
#3, John Kerry is a lower form of humanity then Dubya' simply because I think he knows he reeks of death. Unlike the current king who honestly believes he is doing right.
I'm not even a fan boy and I know that the Sith were beaten back (read: killed) from dominance in the galaxy by the Jedi. One of the reasons for the whole one master, one apprentice, live in secrecy yada yada yada....
I'd also like to add that if you don't believe it is possible to have the supposedly amazing amount of features modern apps do and still be fast with a small footprint. Let me cite Opera (I know, not OSS) as a good example.
I may be late jumping into this and it may well be redundant at this point but whatever...
I have an Athlon 2500XP with 512mb's of RAM.
I do not run linux, I run FreeBSD. I use a custom compiled kernel that is about as stripped down as possible.
Gnome 2.6 is just not that fast. Traversing my file system through Nautilus is slow.
Kde 3.2.x is also not that fast. Traversing the file system is pretty quick but the applications themselves are not.
Everyone seems to be talking about progress, but what I want to know is, what progress are we talking about? GASP they have added a side tab! GASP they have added thumbnails! The basic framework for these applications is the same! The file manager's mostly have pretty similar looks. What features could have been added to cause the need for an extra 2ghz of processing power to rival the speed of our old graphical *nix systems?
Oh yeah... that's right, little to nothing!
If you really mess around on a well customised desktop you had on some old hardware (kde 1.x anyone?) and look at the speed, then compaare that to your brand spanking new 2.5ghz system (kde 3.2.x) you should notice that you have just added 2ghz to your system gained a few useless features and have no speed increase.
Also, in the article the comment about Gnome-Terminal is dead on. Can anyone rightfully explain why Gnome-Terminal is as slow as it is?
Must be all the INSANE features it has! Like... oh yeah it doesn't really have any INSANE features, it's just slow as hell on brand new hardware.
I know it isn't a popular opinion to have because these actions are illegal but I can only hope that he is able to get off with no penalty. I look at the way we are going with our current fight for digital rights like a war, and our commitment to blatantly steal what we should be charged for is our greatest ally in showing major corporations that we will not only not aid them in their quest to control everything but also take the goods they are trying to sell and enjoy ourselves as well.
Too many good uses for Bittorrent to let the warez kiddies spoil it for us.
If I take a knife and I cut someone up with it. Does that mean that somehow you are now going to be unable to go use the knife for something you want/need to?
Honestly, if the only thing on this planet that anyone used bittorrent for was "warez", *GASP* you could still set up torrents for legal files and have all your buddies download them.
If BT becomes illegal at some point, then we all are going to have a lot more to worry about then the fact that we can't get ahold of our warez.
The same people who have a ton of money to blow on the endless and for the most part terrible games that the video game industry releases, are also the same people who view the other sex as objects. Why not start "reviewing" women in the magazines as well?
If all the money used to fight these constant, "corporate wars" with there never-ending lawsuits and industrial espionage, we could take that money and prevent any real wars from happening. I'm so tired of this pointless crap.
My post about working at the data center and our experience get's a +4 but this person get's "troll"ed? That isn't fair.
My experience if I went more in depth would be to also include the fact that spam listing's like Spamhaus and Spews, hurt our business on a regular basis even though we are constantly fighting spam.
One spammer can cause tons of customers to be unable to send mail to anyone using Spews, Spamhaus or any of the other spam blacklists and this simply isn't fair to them. We need to fight spam intelligently and these blacklists are obviously not solving the problem.
The issue of spammers is fairly unrelated to the different major bandwidth suppliers. We have three different providers here and spammers rarely request or care which network we put them on. They just want to get their 1.5 day's of major spamming done before we shut them down. The issue is what is going on at data centers to stop spammers quickly and what is being done on the internet to make spamming unprofitable.
Looking at the larger picture, we all need to keep speaking with our money and only buy what we can change and have true control/access of.
The more money companies making all kinds of digital devices recieve when they allow us to really change/hack them, is the incentive for this to continue.
A single byte of new code spawned from the beast just leads to another potential for 1000 bytes of code to exploit it. When will they learn to remove instead of add?
Those crazy communists, how will American corporations implement currency copying protections if they ask us to help them fight counte... what is the current exchange rate on their money again?
Although incorrect, I felt like making the word stand out. If it confused you, I would reference the context of the post. It makes it pretty clear which mac mAc maC MAc mAC MAC I am talking about.
If you only download music, it is your fault if you get a lawsuit or get busted.
Reason being is you are listening to bad music. Stop supporting or even ripping off the RIAA and wake up to the fact that any music that is associated with them is terrible.
Maybe along with being able to pass laws that directly effect how they are able to run their campaigns they should also be allowed to give themselves pay rais... nevermind.
You don't think a newer high-end PDA couldn't play an ultima online style game? In a year we'll be talking mid-range PDA and in two we'll be talking any new to market PDA.
Mobile MMORPG's are more then possible. The problem is the cost of completely wireless internet and the speed it offers.

I said "spawned from the beast", I did not just simply say any new code.
Is it that hard to see that I am specifically talking about windows and not every thing/product?

It still feels weird wondering if these MAC issues also mean there are changes/upgrades to be made on *nix systems.
