    That was the same issue in the cube. But as long as the cooling needs aren't too different from the higher cpu speed, there shouldn't be an issue.

    Sure, those are the odds.

    But the chances go up there are going to be more failures now.

    Especially if the 1.25 chips really didn't certify at 1.42. Some times, 170MHz makes all the difference. Especially if they are doing it to up thier distributed.net speeds. :)

    Just as they probably don't allows people to use fake paper money, or reject a fake looking credit card.

    I can't imagine that little box is all that great at cooling. I know the cube wasn't.
    I wonder if there is going to be a surplus of dead mac minis hitting ebay soon. :)

    I'm not concerned.
    • Times I have already given the government my finger prints:
    • First Grade: They came in and took everyone's prints.
    • Grade 11: Once again, came and took our prints. It wasn't mandatory.
    • 2002: Took my prints when I recieved a concealed handgun permit.
    For me, I'm not worried about giving my prints. The man already has my prints. I'm just worrying about someone chopping off my finger and going to thriftway to buy groceries!

    Funny because it's true!
    Dead tree and a pencil are more reliable, cheaper to replace, less likely to be stolen, and has less of a learning curve than a PDA. No weird stylus moves to learn, just your basic english. :)

    Then you get into setting some sort of standard to determine when a machine becomes a life form.
    Machines don't care when they are replaced or have thier space invaded. But life forms, really do. :)

    Do we really want robots out there that can reproduce themselves? maybe Iv'e seen too many Sci-fi movies, but it feels pretty scary to me.

    There has been Something Star Trek in the theaters, on TV, and what not our for decades. If it all jsut went away for a few years, maybe people's hunger will come back and there can be a succesfull series again.

    I think that it'd be fairly important. Even if only for reliability. Because speed and reliability are equally important.
