I guess I wasn't ware that the far side of the moon got sunlight any time but a lunar eclipse. I'm no lunar expert, I'm just shooting from the hip here.
So, I was just thinking. Brainstorming really. I had a thought about a real life use for moon colonization.
Mount a telescope on the dark side of the moon.
Shielded from the light of the sun, and mounted to a big solid object. The moon.
Mapping the skies would be simple. Point the telescope straight out, take pictures every few minutes. Do that for a few months and you have detailed pictures of all the in a donut shaped space around you. Change angles and repeat. Although, the best you could ever do is a big donut shaped area. Straight up and straight down would be hard. But I am sure it'd be worth it.
I can't wait until the day when linux powering something is not news. When it's common place for linux/BSD or whatver other freeNIX to run on something, and have it not be a big deal. I mean, something running windows isn't news, because it's pretty common. Although, I was pretty shocked to find out that the self checkout terminals in most both Fred Meyer and Home Depot are Windows based.
Back on topic though. Won't it truelly be a milestone when running an alternative OS isn't news?
Until you start planning for IT, IT will not be up to par. First thing I thought about was,"Who the hell even put the room there? If you have the investment involved in that many computers, why not invest in some planning?
How much have the people who are making these claims looked into the game?
The problem with this is that the kind of people who buy this kind of game, are not the same kind of people who take this sort of stand on racism and hate crimes.
I wish there were more usefull step by step how-to stuff on the web like this. Too often I look for how to do something and I have to figure it out in bits an pieces.
It difficult for the people in the land between complete noob, and guru. It's like I'm an advanced user that has to admin his own box. ]:3}>
now all someone has to do is figure out the role of tech support, a sys admin, and a programmer, and a lot of programmers doing tech support, support people doing sys admining, and sys admins doing support and programming will be happy!
I once aquired a G3 wallstreet. It'd been left in the trunk for several months. There was no carpet, it was diurty, and the guy lived in an area with lots of pot holes.
When I get it it had nearly no paint on the bottom, and the top was scratched all to hell. but, it worked. LCD was in good shape, and it worked for a few months until I had passed it on to someone else.
I can imagine some geeks with some land setting up 20 or so of these dishes up in thier back yard. Geeks cover the globe, and geeks would find this interesting. No need for finding places to put dishes, because private citizens would be doing it of thier own free will on thier own land.
Of all that junk, I wonder hour much is made of at least party fessis metal. Maybe a shuttle could make a few laps around the eart with a low power magnet (low, so you don't screw up the orbit of satalite.:) and snatch a few up. Then, they can shoot it at Sol.
Maybe what the world needs is a better attitude. I know you're being real, I know you are being truthfull. I know that you've not told any lies, I know you have not stretched any truths.
People are hatefull
People are stubburn
People inherit predjudices from thier parents
People learn hate, they aren't born with it.
For years I grew up around some of the lowest cast of hispanic people. The poor, undereducated, whatever. basicly, hispanic white trash.
When I moved out into the tech sector though, I found out how wrong I was. Spending time with a broader range of hispanics made me realise exactly how wrong I was. Now, I hate everyone based on how dumb they are, and not the colour of thier skin.
My hope is, that with countries working on a personal level, they will grow friends with people from other nations. If thier attitude changes, and they pass that on to friends, family, and children, then good will have been done.
I am all for more huge international projects, that aren't war!
The more countries work together, the more it gets set into society that people from other countries are okay, and working with them is NOT like working with the enemy.

I am so honored to have a "BSD is dieing" troll as a reply to my post.
I must be moving up in the world . . .

I was more refering to using anti-matter for practical uses.
Not engines.
You know, the alternative is to just not read slashdot. :)
Star Trek becoming reality, one cool invention at a time.

The world is a very complex, and large thing. It's no wonder they don't understand it all yet. Hell, we don't have a clue about the oceans yet either.
okay, okay, I admit, that sounded bad.
But, I got it from super cheap.
Like $20 or something.

This is an Ecellent idea!

Come on guys, give it a rest . . .

Thanks for the info.
I guess I could have found that on my own. ]:3}>
Now I have a game more stimulating that Photoshop and dreamweaver to play on my Mac!
Now that it's 5.2, is it safe to move mission critical systems from 4.x ?
