Hopefully the optional use of biometrics will solve the password memorization issues in the future... as long as actual fingerprints etc are not stored (could be privacy issues, hacking etc.), only a fingerprint signature is stored...
I disagree, PVCS is awful... it's expensive, the 'GUI' interface is not at all intuitive, the server is unreliable and it doesnt scale. It also lacks (or hard to find) a good diff'ing utility and a useful search utility. I prefer CVS with one of the gui add-ons like tortoise. In my opinion, the cost/benefit of CVS far outweighs PVCS. I have not used Subversion but hear great things about it.
I disagree. It is very intuitive and functional. It is used at more than 16,000 customer sites worldwide with more than 400,000 licenses (I saw this on their website just now). Here is a demo. Some parts of demo has screenshots. Make your own judgement if you have patience to watch the whole demo.
Disclaimer: I am in no way related to this company. Just happened to use it at a client site.
I have used PVCS in the past. Very good version control application. I am not sure about the cost though but benefits could outweigh cost. Here is the company website.
After being a complete computerholic for a while (not to mention the evenings of keyboard games like tetris, pacman, racing games, etc.), I began to have pain in my forehand and wrist, especially the righ hand. I thought about going to doctor but after doing thorough research on web, I decided to try these first: (1) Buy Gel Pads for keyboard and mouse for every computer I use. (2) Reduce the frequency of keyboard/mouse use (I quit playing computer games, can you believe that). Give short breaks to forearm when working on computer. (3) Start working out. Lifting weights (resistance training) is the best thing you can do. It helps tremendously by strengthning the forearm muscles which provide extra support.
Above 3 things worked great and I don't have the symptoms since then.
I would also recommend changing posture even though I am lousy in that department.
I believe that motorola builds a lot of weatherproof ruggerized devices running Windows CE and other pda style operating systems.... I know this because one of my friend works for a fortune 500 company that sells meat and they needed such devices in pig farms!!
You are lost in a foreign city, you don't speak the language and you are late for your meeting. What do you do?
You start thinking about what the hell is this that is so important that you go to a foreign country to have a meeting where people don't understand your language and you bet all your chances on the assumption that your cellphone will find the carrier that will allow you data transfer without a subscription plan. If the meeting is so important in the foreign land, I would think that you would do little more homework than to just depend on a cameraphone!!
So if they plan to launch something like this on a national scale, how are they going to get pictures of every nook and corner of every town and keep the database up-to-date. Seems like huge investment and effort and I am not sure how much of such data they can buy from govenrment agencies. Plus lot of construction like apartment communities, etc is done on the basis of same model design. It could definitely get a person lost if the building signature happens to be alike. With high volume, the probability of signature matching increases.
Simputer has a built-in Accelerometer and it runs Linux. Since this device already has built-in support for accelerometer, it should be relatively easy to add support for more using the SDK. Also, simputer can use USB flash memory. It also is one of the rare pda-size devices that has 2 USB ports (one master and one slave; most PDA's only have a slave USB where you can not plug any other usb device). It also has IR port. I am not sure how bluetooth would fit in but it shouldn't be too difficult with a device with such features...
1)Run Windows XP. 2)Install CoLinux 3)Install Wine in CoLinux 4)Run windows applications in Wine
Well, if you have nothing else to do on a weekend.........
Gmail Viewer software with 2048 bit encryption

I am patenting the encryption software and Gmail Viewer that will interface with Gmail with one Click. Basically, you use Gmail/GOS for storage and email delivery but your content is encrypted using 128 bit or 256 bit or 512 bit or 1024 or 2048... encryption before it goes to Gmail servers. You just upload and download encrypted files and email messages to the Gmail Viewer on your PC using 1-click feature with your gmail user name and password... Well, I am just kidding but what is to stop someone from creating such a viewer/encryptor if they want to keep their information private(less readiy accessible to Google bot/PhD's). If they want to read the content, they have to first break the encryption....using email viewer means that once you download attachment, the viewer decrypts it with the key and you can read the mail as if you were using it in your favorite POP mail reader....
If Google starts offering a free 1000 MB of email account, what is stopping Yahoo/Hotmail etc from offering a 50 or 100 or even 1000 MB of free email account by making money in a similar way as google ?
From what I remember when I lived in NC (it was at least 3 years ago) that the state tax form had an item to report out of state purchases so they can be taxed. If you didn't remember how much exactly you bought, there was a blanket $1000 option with certain tax amount that you could pick....
I have never used a packet sniffer before. If I want to try Ethereal, where do I install it ? I have a router and couple of boxes in my home network... Can installing on one box monitor all the packets of the other box that aren't being sent to the box on which it is installed ?
I'm a developer and have been given a task of creating documentation, for fellow developers, on how the system (a CMS) I have implemented, and adapted, works and how to develop for it.
Are you sure that it is for fellow developers ?? Sadly, you never know these days...
Why is this article a News ?? For example, this is what I did: (1) Find on Google. Look at first phonebook result. Took 30 seconds. (2) Find address on terraserver Took a minute. Now before you flame, all this is public information. It takes less than 2 minutes to obtain...so what's the big deal about the magazine's offer other than that they are printing it and mailing to you...
Prior to this, mapquest was providing free aerial views as well...
So far, no one has found a road-and wheel combination in which the road has the same shape as the wheel. That's an intriguing challenge for mathematicians.
Well, if you consider earth circular (albeit spherical), bicycle wheel and earth already have same shape....just different scale!
What if someone comes out with a way to encrypt all communications to use with Gmail...\ I wonder what effect will it have on their ad-delivery as well as tracking when they would have to break the email content encryption...
I wonder if the Gmail service would be available to general public before their IPO? That might increase the value of their stock significantly. Also, once public, they have to answer to investors to maximize the return...and change of management/merger could very well mean significant privacy issues. If/when Gmail is available, I would use it to store big file attachments (mainly storage) and still use my regular ISP for normal day-to-day communications UNLESS GOOGLE GUARANTEES COMPLETE PRIVACY NOW AND IN FUTURE and no caching of deleted emails and no tracking (seems highly unlikely)...

Check out item number 5 on the list!!

A good analogy is telling picasso that you only want the top half of his painting for half the price.
No, a good analogy is telling picasso that you only want the one of his paintings...
A good analogy to your half painting analogy is buying first 3 minutes of a 6 minute song

So you'll get ads for PGP, GnuPG, Enigmail, GNU/Linux, and Mozilla.
That is funny!
I can't mod in this discussion or I will mod you funny!
