I can't give you much in the way of hardware feedback - my Mac experiences are mostly recent (within ~1 month) so the long term outlook I can provide isn't something you can use.
What I can tell you is that the issues you had with the operating system are a thing of the past. Aside from some interesting (and minor) quirks, it's incredibly solid.
4q.cc is the original. It all came from the forums at somethingawful. Like any good entertainment, Slashdotters have no problem ripping it off for their own gain.
You're being pedantic. My point was, you posted an anti-java troll by playing loose with the facts. Don't let it worry you - I know you're probably chasing karma, and I'd hate to stop you in your quest to bump the invisible number.
You're forgetting where you are. This is Slashdot, where anyone that isn't happy keyslapping arcane commands into a white on black console isn't really using a computer, and any piece of software that tries to do anything for the user is heretical.
Exactly what was it about Slashdot that made you think anything but sad fuckers populated these communist shores? The unrepentant geekery fool you? The non-stop proselytizing of an alternative OS like someone actually gave a shit? The grant-mooching hippie worship? The political idealism that speaks of a life lived on IRC, without real world contact in any way? The belief that the general population actually cares one whit for technology? The crowing about the slightest bit of sexual contact in any post from someone who's so much as seen the opposite sex? The evangelical atheism, as if steadfast faith in science weren't just as much of a religion as Christianity? The me-too moderation, demonstrating a deepseated need to belong heretofore only seen in bulemic cheerleaders?
I am white, male, 55, married with grown kids, lower middle class h.s. chemistry teacher, evangelical Christian who is not a Republican.
I am a pink, male, 30, too smart to be suckered into marriage and reproduction, upper middle class, self employed, keeps to my self dedicated atheist, who is conservative, but not Republican.
Does that mean we have to turn the whole world into weenies just to satisfy those who already are? That seems unfair. I mean, I'm a nerd, sure, but I'm not a weenie, and I don't wanna be.
How exactly could one bet their career on a decision like this?
At this level of spending, demand vendor demos and decide based on which package meets more of your needs.
If you just want advice from slashdotters while giving this little information, you'll get prejudiced "UNIX UNIX UNIX" all the way. I suspect this is your goal, though - the wording of your question suggests you have an answer in mind and you want validation.
It means your sense of humor is defective.
Past tense of the is thud. Like the sound this joke made.

so Jan 2006 - Jan (beginning? Let's call it January to be safe) 2004 = 3 years?
I hope your job doesn't involve your subtraction skills.
You're conflating ignorance with stupidity. Probably because you're ignorant. Or stupid. I can't decide.
Ah, because corporations aren't made of people, right? Wait, that can't be it. What is it, exactly?

It's fuckin simple.

Except, if you read the summary, you'd see it isn't, since OSX widgets can include Cocoa code, which KDE doesn't support.
In other words, you'll get your modpoints for bashing Java, but you lose in reality.

That's right, Timmy. Your purely subjective opinion is the ONE TRUE WAY. You let those dirty conservatives know it, Timmy. I'm proud of ya.
Ok

With perfect operation, you correctly avoid such issues.
What an original rant. You should publish that in a book of funny.

They compliment you? But all you did was buy it. That's hardly worthy of praise.
Don't let facts get in the way of a good old fashioned hatefest directed at success.

Color me surprised.
That means it's also logical to believe there is a boogeyman in my closet.
Not everyone can withstand the pressure of following clear directions with pictures.
Yeah, that's gonna do the job for people. Nothing like making it hard to do anything to convince someone to be security minded.
Is it just me, or was one incredibly poorly written article? I won't bother picking apart the content - that's like slapfighting a quadripilegic.
Call them sellouts and feel superior for knowing them first?
(Not the OP, just guessing.)
