How is using euphemistic expression better than cursing? Just trying to understand the thought process - your meaning is clear, and the intent is the same, so I'm not sure exactly what you saved there.
Excellent rationalization. This is a nice murky gray area for you to have a swim in. Funny how copyright law never mentions 'the look of the bookshelf' as a valid reason for ignoring its provisions. Just admit you've done something wrong, and forget trying to make your greed into some sort of heroic stance against 'the man' for not producing the format you want yet.
I don't grudge anyone piracy - everyone is a thief at heart, especially when they can get away with it easily. Greed is just a fact. What I can't stand is the constant need to have this illicit behavior validated by others of questionable moral character.
Go ahead and mod me down - it doesn't make me wrong, just unpopular.
There is nothing special about laws that prevents your average Joe from understanding them and even creating them.
There's nothing special about cars or software or anything else that keeps "average Joe" from understanding or creating them either. Mostly, it's a question of time - it's just not physically possible to dedicate enough time to learning how to do everything at a level of competence necessary to do it well.
I'm not trying to argue against the idea of direct democracy, I'm just saying it's perfectly reasonable to expect people that don't understand the subtlety involved in creating laws (or software, or cars... so on and so forth) to still follow them.
This is probably going to come off sounding like a flame, but I seriously have to tell you - that's the most deeply twisted logic I've ever attempted to comprehend.
If I understand you correctly, you're saying that space research, which turned up ancillary technology with far ranging uses, was harmful for turning up said technology, because it prevented it from being found other ways, which would have been less harmful by virtue of not being related to the space race?
You need to be honest with yourself and determine how good you are, then move on. It's not worth trying to fight a system like you describe, and if you are in the top half of the talent in the industry, there's a job out there for you that's more interesting, pays better, and isn't half as painful.
If you're in the bottom half, I guess get used to it and be happy you're employed.
Are you, brother, an enlightened European or Canadian? Would that I could join you in the home of the free indeed, where people are reasonable. Unfortunately I am stuck here in the US of A, drooling and pants-shitting and fucktarding.
Oh, by the way, I think you missed something in this sentence, unless you intended it to be meaningless: When the US stops behaving like some pants-shitting infant who drools a lot and actually thinks very visibly mentally challenged rich-men's sons like Dubya, Prince of Fucktards, then the bashing will stop.
Are you sure you're safe, publishing an opinion like that on the internet for everyone to see? Aren't you worried the Gestapo is on the way now to break your kneecaps and crush your testicles for not having correct thoughts?
Dissent is being crushed as we speak! No one is allowed to think outside set NeoCon boundaries! 1984 is here!
Actually, over here in reality, people understand that 'open source' isn't a monolithic group of people behind one face, sharing one image. Actually, most of us realize that, since we are being provided with software that requires no investment on our part, being grateful is the appropriate response to pretty much anything.
Any expectations we as users have on the developers can be classified as unreasonable. They've already gone well beyond what is owed to the community (which is nothing - the whole point of the community in the first place.)
I suppose you'll continue your pointless crusade. It only makes you look worse as time goes on.
Actually, I work for myself, and I do no lobbying or political donating at all. The last time I worked for a large company, I was also in a union, so I guess that balanced out.
I see your point, but I don't agree - mainly because when a corporation uses its own money to do political activity. After all, I don't believe people are in the practice of paying a company for the privilege of working there. You may want to turn your scorn toward customers - they seem to fit the parallel much better.
Incidentally, using the word 'retarded' to make your point goes a long way toward robbing you of your credibility. If your position cannot be expressed without disparaging the opposition, you might be just a little too emotionally invested to be making arguments in a public forum.
What exactly is your basis for comparison? Do you have anything other than your opinion? I've noticed this trend in heavy drug users - seems like hubris of the worst kind to me. Then again, people also think creativity comes from substance abuse, so I'm not surprised.
Before you accuse me of being christian right know that I am not even close. Hell, I'm not even judging you, just wondering what basis you have for your claims, other than "I said so."
You know what? I like the cruelty of meat production. It's my belief that the terror a cow goes through before a cruel death in a slaughterhouse releases hormones that make the beef more tender and delicious.
People by and large don't care and won't go vegan, which is why the movement is a minority and always will be. Sorry, but by all means keep pretending that trying makes a difference!
The only people that think Apple is renowned for extraordinary quality are those that close their eyes intentionally to the flaws in Apple products. There are plenty of us out here not fooled into thinking rounded-corner white plastic means anything more than decent corporate design.
In reference to the GP, the people on this site pile on Apple because of the zealotry. Calm down about how this particular company is the second coming of whatever, and people will calm down about how it isn't.
Round up the apple zealot downmods! Nail me, please!
See, here's how it works. I call this "executive syndrome" in a more specific form, but generally speaking, people consider anything they can't do beneath them.
Since geeks (by and large) can't fight, they look at violent expression as somehow being lower than reason, even though realistically it isn't. Actually, violence is a hell of a lot more effective.
Kind of a sorry truth, I guess, but everyone needs to face up to it.
I have 3 iPods
I can't be the only one thinking this - why?

Oh, great, so we'll have Nokia zealots to deal with now, too?
I don't believe you. Your definition completely reverses the meaning of the phrase. Can you provide some form of reference to this?

BSD is 10.
If you don't know how to write software, how can you be expected to use it?
If you don't know how to build a car, how can you be expected to drive it?
If you don't know how to write music, how can you be expected to appreciate it?
I don't think your reasoning stands.
Maybe then don't accept the cookie.
I've got to wonder why it bothers you, anyway. It kind of reminds me of the kids that wear their wallets on a chain. No one wants your bus pass, man.

I must have this confused. Please restate.

What say you, oh enlightened brother?

Ahhh, and here I was believing in private ownership.
I'll be right over to use our car, then. Make sure all of our money is in the glovebox, I'll be needing it for weed and hookers.
here's the part you missed: one fifth of the babies left
Although this seems too easy to me - it's a grade school level math problem.
Turn a light on.
Yeah, and what's with all these colors? Everything is perfectly servicable in grayscale. And don't get me started on images.
You know what? I like the cruelty of meat production. It's my belief that the terror a cow goes through before a cruel death in a slaughterhouse releases hormones that make the beef more tender and delicious.

Are you saying you expect a company to not only provide a free service, but to provide it on your terms?
I ask only because I can't tell if that's what you mean or not.

How do you take back something you never owned in the first place?
