    As someone who has commuted in DC, I welcome this. Nothing chapped my ass more than watching a douche take the HOV all on his lonesome. He didn't earn it, he can sit in shit with the rest of us.

    I'm afraid I still don't understand. My math is no longer strong enough to derive any new information from Turing's papers.

    I'm only really aware of two types of parallel programming in any case: the type available through multi-core implementations, and the SIMD/MIMD style available in GPUs. What else is there?

    There's very little need to make it a class warfare thing. The large ISPs are publicly owned, and lots of people make money when they do well. Certainly, some people do very well, but they are exceptions. Holding them down sure doesn't lift everyone else up, in any case.

    They also found it's easier to provide high bandwidth connections when you limit their total number. That lesson is so basic to Internet2 that it's hard to say what other lessons could actually be applied to the Internet.

    Although I don't disagree that higher bandwidth could be provided without much trouble, and it's mainly greed holding things back.

    How are you forced, exactly? Does Steve Jobs stand next to you, ensure you're on the Internet, ensure you have the latest iTunes, dock your iPhone, and make you update the firmware on it somehow?

    And even if he did somehow manage this, what does it have to do with threatening to rape my (non-existent) wife? Do you really think that's in any way a reasonable parallel?
