Maybe they need an "off-road" model. It'll really be the same of course, except it's always got dirt on it, and it uses a 15,000 volt battery that you need to replace every day...
My brother tried skateboarding on it. God, that was a fun night in the ER.

im not sure, i can do most of those thinks, but on a cell phone, i cant even think right.
i did sideswipe a honda (in my SUV, duh) the other day, and my scapegoat was distraction by the roadsigns. still, i guess this shows im not that great of a driver to begin with.
i, for one, am really sick of all the "news for nerds, stuff that matters" bullshit. if you don't like slashdot, stop reading it (pretty much what i do, except for the occasional visit).
and if you want to bithc about teen movies, go see waking life. you'll feel better.
Seems like a valid point, both video games and drugs being little "escapes" from facing reality. I don't play videogames very avidly, but quite a few people I know do; my brother will tell me he simply _has_ to get on the computer, then procede to just play QuakeIII.
It does get addictive, just like D&D, just like coffee, just like obsesivly clicking the gnome-fish looking for bits of wisdom.
And just a little bit like drugs.
I've no objection to games at all; I even play them sometimes. But to spend you're entire summer vacation playing Evercrack, as a certain friend of mine is doing, this is when it becomes a problem, n'est pas?
>Almost any moral system is preferable to having

Nope. Morals simply do not work. You see, you can't command goodness. I would go so far as to say that morals are the source of the problems that they cause. People shouldnt be nice because its 'moral' or 'their duty' but because they want to. And if you leave them alone and stop bugging them about being good, then they probably will.

And 'ethics' are just another way of telling people what they should do. Maybe my point was this: If you let people do what they want to they are more likely to do good things.
And I'm sorry for being offtopic. I wanted to say that morals and ethics really have no place in society, let alone the net.
and to flex my keen sense for the obvious, id like to point out that this only effects mac users (duh), and i (a mac user) plan to use linux and os X anyway. although i have to admit, linux on ppc seems a little patchy. maybe its me, but i seem unable to compile half of the games i download, or to get 3d acceleration working (ati rage 128, blah, blah, blah), and a bunch of other mishaps that i would otherwise whine about to try to prove my point that.... uh i like linux anyway. must be that penguin.
i guess im a bit deprived for games (i have a mac), but the most addictive games i remember were escape velocity and snood. and quake 3. and reckless drivin'. and xpilot. err.... yea those games.
when i was toying around with spriteworld (a mac animation library) on my g4, it kept giving me estimates like 1000 frames a sec (yowza!)... not sure what i get for quake3 though.
ok, i now realize it was a mistake to use 'zen' in there with occultism, but no religion likes to be classified with that. what i meant is that _often_ people in 'alternative' religions (not meant to sound bad), are not as fanaticall as others see them. if one beleives in occultism just to be different, then thats fine. but when they start living their life around it, thats when i worry.
although i try to repect all religions, my lack of knowledge about them seems to cause unavoidable offense (just like in geeks in space).
ok and one other rant (this is bound to offend some folk, and its a bit off-topic) but i do appeaciate the way most smaller (smaller in people, not faith) religions treat other religions. i live in north carolina, and i am surrounded by rural baptist hicks who constantly tell my i'm destined to hell because i'm not even christian, but if i beg forgiveness then i will be fine. (my apologies to any rural baptist hicks who were offended by this). being a unitarian, i often judge religions based on how aggresively they push their beleifs on others.
(again not to accuse anyone of doing this).
i don't mean to offend anyone, i was just sorting them together as 'alternative' religions. im sorry if i offended anyone (i myself as a unitarian, so i'm pretty accepting of most religions.)
i think that most who partake in zen/occultism/whatever seem to treat it as more of a game then a way of life (at least i hope so). sorta similar to the reason we play d&d or magic.
im not really sure how much bob knows about linux. if the stocks go down, then that's that. linux won't need the stock market to survive. it just needs debian (pity i can't use that on my ppc g4).
you should present a list of cool things and descibe whats involved and what they are used for. personally (i'll be a sophmore and be taking ap comp sci at jordan in north carolina) i like doing games and encryption (games in macos, and crypto in linux) but someone else may like doing tcp/ip stuff. maybe you should have each student do whatever they want for some project, and let them collaborate as they might in the real world.
i first got started with turbo c++ at my high school (and i hated it). i had already used makefiles, but never to make my own stuff. right now, i've found that codewarrior is what i wanted. at least in macos it has a nice point and drool interface, and i've always shyed away from makefiles (i'm not sure why). unfortunatly, metrowerks has not made codewarrior available for linuxppc, so i guess i will have to learn how to use gcc....
im not too worried.. yet. so far halo is 'undecided' as to what they will platforms it will run on. its not entirely true that 'bungie has been assimulated and will only make shit games for xbox.' their web site says "we don't know what we're going to do, but we're not a bunch of latte sippers yet." i think there is hope for halo running on linux/mac/even beos. it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
ok, bungies web site states that they will still choose what platforms to port their games to. they're still undecided as for halo, but i hope they will still port it to mac (i have a g4). also, bungie did not bring myth to linux. it was loki.
i bought a new hard drive (wd 10g) to run linux on my g4, and it is incredibly quiet compared to the other drive. in fact, several times i found my self leaning over to find out if my box had hung (its linux, it cant hang) because i did not hear the usual growling of the hard drive as it chews on my data. interestingly enough, the disk that came with the g4 is a western digital too.
i remember seeing some quicktime movie the features a mac in space. it automatically ejected a disk which could have gone on forever... guess that wont happen with the g4, because it has no floppy drive. but mine has a zip which auto ejects..
i learned pascal in the 7th grade, and i think that was the way to go. a bit before that i made a basic program (a text based adventure game) inwhich you destroyed microsoft to save apple. now, when i look at it, with a goto statement every few lines, i wonder how i ever came up with such a beast. after i learned pascal, i discovered c, then c++, and now macos toolbox and opengl. i dont think i would have ever understood anything without that pascal experience.
also regarding pascal; after you've moved on to c++, it is extreamely hard to do anything in it. when i took a pascal programming class my freshman year of high school, i detested everything, and continuosly stated what a great language perl/lisp/c++/tcl/intercal was and how much i'd rather use that..

on that title note, allmovie.com says the title was almost "Ten Things I Hate About Clueless Road Trips When I Can't Hardly Wait to Be Kissed"
i guess that was too long
maybe you should demand your money back.

Eek! Im turning into dubya!
that should read "morals are the source of the problems they condemn."

car companies can now give the bonus of free cryogenic freezing to anyone in an accident....

oh yea, the other noisy thing about my g4 is the dvd drive. when i spin a cd, a constant hum fills the room, part of my desk vibrates.
