when Visicalc first came out, i read a magazine article written by a small business owner. he had put together a WHAT IF model for his business and was enjoying himself and modeling all the various "i wonder what" ideas he had had for many years. we did the same thing as soon as we copped an Apple II. you can pry my spreadsheet and PC out of my dead fingers. they are that important.
as a business owner, i make my decisions based on the skills of the programmers involved, my tolerance for demanding that documentation be done regularly, and whether the 'team' can produce and keep current a modular flowchart-roadmap of what the project 'is' 'does' and what resources it 'uses' and 'connects with'.
in the MS world, their NET language and development tools are really the only way to go. if you are doing Unix/Linux or web stuff, you can avoid VB/VBNET.
our favorite tools for heavy data work are VB Studio , VB (.NET compatible language), MS Access, and SQL variants.
if we have a real puzzle of a program, it is far better to see if a highly talented person can solve it with the language they know and think in, than forcing a new fit along the way.
assuming the DOD and the FAA coordinate where planes can and cannot fly, this is manageable. the prolems i have heard discussed are when these drones fly ad hoc missions on short notice... or when they malfunction.
as long as my family can sue the crap out of the feds for messing up, i am happy with their mistakes.
Greg;
Bro!
would a car based mesh network device (non internet dependent) run the same version of Apache as a normal webserver or not? what changes would have to be configured and is this a major project?
my friends want to network with each other, not the internet, for a variety of reasons when we cruise and run 12VDC mode. i am just looking for a server to find and mesh WIFI-like with all the other car based dudes when we drive. that way, we would have a system that is free of the ISP world and make it work ourselves.
this idea has balls.
the poster who mentioned that Apple uses context rather than devices is on the mark. Apple has always been more about the inner things working well... they have also been more about locking them away...
almost any of these Linux flavors is a good match for their modest computer work. i think the stability of the Linux product promotes a lot more confidence.
i vote to do two things; 1 - let ICANN do their thing. 2 - encourage the rest of the world to put their own system into place.
if the rest can make a better internet, a more functional internet, a more speedy and helpful internet on their own root DNS system, we should be happy to check it out... and improve ours.
i probably already knew that due to the idiot lights coming on... what would be far more killer would be for a smart panel display, they could even use the CD/DVD player if connected... to tell me and the mechanic right there what the F____ was wrong without having to wait or go into the dealership or crap like that which is how it now works.
GM does not have a clue about what customers want...
if a BTU of energy is produced with wasteful methods, the waste will be reflected in the cost.
i really worry about the place where the energy comes from or is produced.
if we produced all our auto fuels in the USA, the wasted value would be made up for in terms of value spent and invested here...not somewhere else...
to the input on my DVD and CDR recorders grab the audio (7 channels now) just fine.
i can't hear the difference.
maybe you can.
i have also set my system to audio grab internet radio and store it in MP3 format.
so, now, between the two methods, i have
too many tracks to listen to in one lifetime.
i can pass ownership of the burned media to anyone who is interested.
digital rights protection is over-rated.
i have had very good experiences with Amazon and less so with eBay since their customer support policies are specific to a particular member or seller.
the history of big box stores like Best Buy around here is that sooner or later they go bankrupt and shut their doors.
when you need a part or service,
then IF you can find a repair depot
close and IF they fix your closed
box and then IF they still have
parts and IF you can afford the shop
costs.... perhaps you will want
a PC with this feature added.
still the best way.
over about 30+ years, i have been
highly impressed with HP on many levels,
in many different equipment and software
departments.
if you have a crap product, they
would/should have replaced it or repaired
it until you were satisfied.
at least, that has been my experience.
often, the issue is finding the contact
at the manufacturing office where
the device was made. they usually take
a degree of responsibility for both
the quality of their runs, and
your satisfaction as a customer.
just what i have found.
large segments of society feel they should be freaking free to avoid the responsibilities of life.
i mean, in real life, we have these issues and if kids and groups think a background check is a burden, i say 'tough'. someone else will see it as a small price and a smaller burden for the greater good of chemical / propellant and explosives regulations.
it is not aimed at the kids, it is aimed at those pretending to be kids and them blowing society up.
welcome to adult life class 101.
internal feature set and the hack will
be of interest.
actually, this looks like a controller
for a video gamer setup to me. perhaps
their USB will support a LAN port
dongle thing...

this is not something that is purely NT or PLC but a hybrid of them, at least when used by US military contractors.
the way things are ratcheting up in
our industry sector ( transportation )
i would strongly suggest kids or techies
not screw around with federal property
or anyones property for that matter.
does the term zero tolerance ring
these guys bells yet?
spend some time in the bureaucratic
system after a stunt like this and
then respond please... your whinning is not
an effective legal defense...
WE ARE THE WEAK LINK!
with the 9/11 memory in mind, we
have found out that using intellingence
information, sharing, and then effectively understanding how it relates to national security it is the weakest part of the puzzle.
if the bad guys start putting their messages into 'Songs of Allah', our music inclined kids will have a good career in Echelon related technical MP3 file decoding positions.

If the O/S allocates a core to an icon, that would work.

don't we all wish that the things we

over engineering features that these
peppy little scooters have?
GM ought to take a lesson in
how to build things that work

low sales crater.

that is what we do here and is
a general rule in most businesses.
by the way, we do a lot of highly customized
software development and 'buy' that part since
it becomes a part of our core business value.
we view computer systems as an information
utility, and do not 'buy' utilities. we
rent them such as power, water, etc.

even though some sort of separate
and off site backup is needed,
i might suggest you do not depend
on manually mounted tapes.
you will turn into a tape
tenderer quickly and the
issue of time needed to do
the job will reduce the
frequency you use them.
system to system backup is
still my favorite and in the
Windows world, Ghost works.
now this is my kind of software. stupid governments.

which is the range of a lot of mid size artillery and motar shells dude. this is serious distance.

avoid keywords encrypt data steams insert random data noise change all three frequently. it will just be like rain on the roof at that stage.
