As great as YouTube is, I wouldn't want to sit down in the living room and watch it like normal TV. Maybe it works for people with a 5 minute attention span but it doesn't really offer movies or TV shows.
There's nothing wrong with gaming, it's just idiots who spend $3000 on an Alienware or Voodoo instead of building a better machine themselves for half the price that are the problem.
They're quite different beasts, I suppose the main advantage MySQL Front offers is that it's a Windows app, so it's a bit more responsive than doing things via the browser, particularly if there is a lot of data to load (although obviously with either it's down to transfer speeds a lot of the time). But there are little things with MySQL Front that I appreciate, like being able to edit fields by just double clicking on them (like a spreadsheet), with phpMyAdmin you have to highlight rows and hit the edit button to load a new page to edit data. Also you can just quickly right click and export to CSV or SQL on result sets in MySQL Front which is quite handy sometimes.
I would be happy using either of them really, but I'm quite comfortable with MySQL Front now, and know all the features it has. Obviously it's not platform independent like phpMyAdmin so you're stuck using it on Windows (I assume it won't work under Wine, I've not tried it) but as long as that's not a problem it's worth giving a try IMHO.
Dude, I'd give you mod points if I could. According to your link it's still going strong under the name HeidiSQL. I just downloaded the RC3 on their site and it's really good. Thanks for finding the link!:)
Does anyone know why this happened? MySQL Front was my favourite front end for MySQL, much better than the one on MySQL.com IMHO, so I'm curious as to why it was killed.
I didn't say anything about Sony losing money on their consoles, I don't care if they or MS do or not. I was commenting on them charging the consumer a fortune for their console because they were trojaning a new video disc format into the living room and causing a format war that no-one wants. MS might be losing money too, but they aren't charging people as much for the console.
I'll be buying all 3 systems because they all have exclusives that I want, but Sony are really pissing me off with their arrogance. They should earn their customers with good games, not bullshit about "the next generation starts when we say it does" or "the PS3 is the only console to do true HD [1080p]!". How does any of that equate to good games? The DS is underpowered compared to the PSP but it's by far the better system. Sony need to learn graphics != good games, they used to know that.
Wasn't David Yarnton the one who categorically denied to the media that there were any plans for a new re-designed Nintendo DS about 3 days before Nintendo announced the Lite? He was either deliberately lying to the media or so far out of the loop that he didn't even know what products were on his roadmap for the rest of the year.
Maybe the US/Japanese Wiis won't be region locked, but systems in PAL territories will be, to avoid people complaining to Nintendo that their PAL TV won't display an NTSC image? Hopefully we'll find out soon!
No, no, no. The PSP has better graphics so therefore it must for hardcore gamers. Mario is all colourful and gay so it can't be for hardcore gamers.
Sadly that means I'm not a hardcore gamer because aside from GTA I've not been impressed with my PSP. The DS goes everywhere with me, while the PSP languishes waiting for something interesting that's not a PS2 port to be released for it...
While I do enjoy Edge, it's usually a month or more out of date by the time it reaches me. Traditional paper magazines just cannot compete with the speed at which gaming information can be disseminated across the internet.
Instead of trolling like the other reply, I'll be helpful.;)
IIRC you unlock the random track mode by completing the Joker cup on Expert difficulty. It then shows up as the X Cup and randomly generates new tracks each time you play. And as the grandparent poster said, some tracks would cause all the CPU cars to go flying off the track to their deaths!
And I must say that I still prefer F-Zero X to GX.
Yep, just what I was going to suggest. The DS is quite ideally suited to point and click adventures with it's touch screen for pointing and the top screen for displaying close-ups of what you're inspecting.
I believe the difference between this case and something like Terry Schiavo is that there was still measurable brain activity in this guy so he wasn't brain dead.
But I agree it would be pretty shitty to wake up and find half your body gone to organ donation. The recent successful face transplant in France used part of the face of a brain dead patient. Imagine waking up to be told you'd had your face removed and given to someone else!
Having read the whole article it's pretty clear the people writing it are biased towards the consoles they owned. Describing Tomb Raider as having a more "high brow" design than Mario 64 is just mind boggling. I certainly know which of those two has withstood the test of time perfectly.
I can safely say that the Dreamcast kicks PS2 ass!
I totally agree, even now I still much prefer the DC over the PS2. I dunno what's going on (maybe it's something in the water) but everyone seems to be in Dreamcast nostalgia mode. IGN has relaunched their DC section and I keep seeing Dreamcast nostalgia threads all over the web. I guess people are now starting to realise that they really miss the "Old" Sega.
Sadly "New" Sega aren't much cop IMHO. They've had a few classic titles, particularly OutRun2 and the early Xbox stuff, but aside from that they are nowhere near that peak they reached with the DC where they were literally churning out classic after classic.

Same here, fuck Sony I'll stick with the 360 and Wii for this generation.

Are you sure they're talking about Nintendo and not GamePark's GP2X?
No it doesn't it has 1 CPU running at 222MHz (333 if you overclock) and it has a GPU running at 166MHz.

"Sony was worried that if they put the HDMI in the lower version, some would complain about having to pay for something they don't want."
It's a pity they didn't take that view with Blu-Ray!

All it gives me is 127.0.0.1, did I do something wrong?
I should point out that it's Pac-Pix not Pic-Pax. As it's one of my favourite DS games I thought I should mention it! :)
Yep, if the big publishers killed E3 because they didn't want to pay for it, I can't see why they would want to make Gen Con the new E3.
Plus Kazaa also had porn, which automatically makes it the better program...
You will all be John Romero's bitch at the same time!

Educate yourself, Schiavo showed no signs of brain functions whatsoever.

That wins the funniest thing on the Internet award today!
