I do boycott. I will continue to boycott. I don't try to rationalize copyright infringement. I have issues with it - the time frame, in particular - but that doesn't give me the right to dismiss it.

With that said, however, P2P and piracy is a much more desireable scape goat for the industry than accepting the "I am evil and do evil things" point of view. Whether I NOT spend money because I'm pirating or because I'm boycotting, in the end, I may as well be pirating, for what it's worth to the record execs.

That isn't to say, however, I will be pirating. Character is what you're doing when no one else is looking. My character is "I'm too fucking lazy to bother". :)

Not so. If you take the bandwidth you would have wasted on iMovie (or whatever) and set up a server to act as a seed (with all that bandwidth associated to it), you would be able to minimize the total used bandwidth (compared to that of your iMovie solution).

Let's say I have a server with 6TB of transfer to blow on releasing a movie. If people directly download from me, without BT, they'll use all of that 6TB up in no time. But if people use Bit Torrent, and the server is acting as the seed, that 6TB will still be there to be used, but with all the users seeding as they download (and after they're complete), that 6TB would last much longer.

Therefor, the user experience, if anything, is better. All you have to do is ensure that you have your own servers seeding the file regardless of whether other users are or not.

When I worked for Pac-Sun (don't ask), we had to match signatures. It wasn't a cursory glance. One signature was completely off. I told them I couldn't accept that card. She said "It's okay, it's my Daddy's!" and I'm like "uhh...you can't sign your Dad's name for a purchase you're making." She got all pissy, the manager came over and she told her the exact same thing. So then the girl called Corporate. They told her the same thing. She left, all pissed off.

Personally, I do the see ID route. I get angry when most stores don't check. A gas station we have in western PA, Sheetz, doesn't actually require a signature for amounts under 20$. So they don't bother checking. I don't know whether I'm okay with that or not, but I guess that, since it's under 20$, it's no big deal, to either party.

And if they end up dying from it - so what? If they're willing to make that choice, then more power to them. At least they're trying to get a normal life back.

And then, of course, it becomes a question of degree. When is it appropriate to risk your life to look better? Only when you're Elephant-Man hideous? Or when you have a pimple? Legally, I say "do whatever the fuck you want", but my personal opinion is that this should only be used in extreme circumstances.

Or maybe you could have your mouse emulate three buttons and click with both mouse buttons at the same time. Another idea. I don't know how practical, but yes.

Regardless, if Opera works for you, go with it. Personally, I'd find it alot like using a shovel with a fridge, toaster, and drill tied to the handle, but that's because I'm a firm believer in not mixing your tools. The then-alive people had to sign some paper work and such, but for the most part, they were able to say "I want my body to be used for _________ purpose". I wonder if we could do the same, and have our own bodies turned into fuel?

This is a bit different than turning your family members into fuel. While I think it's ridiculously silly that people are so intent on being buried in a certain manner, I also think it's their right to be ridiculously silly. If my grandmum didn't want to be made into biofuel, and instead wanted to be buried, or cremated, then I wouldn't dream of doing anything differently.

But I know for me, personally, I'd rather be turned into something useful. If not biofuel, then why not something like...I donno. Food for lions or tigers or bears at a zoo? I'd rather do that than be food for worms and bugs. I guess it just feels more dignified to be consumed by a mammal than it does a worm. :O

It is emminently possible that an overwhelming number of those making your argument are LESS racist, but considering my first-hand experiences, those making your argument are the worst racists of all. I've known half a dozen people, growing up in Ebensburg PA, who actually had "Nigger Hunting Permits", given out by the KKK. Maybe in your particular area, racism isn't a factor, but, at least in the area I grew up, it's alive and kicking. And what's more, they're making the same statement you are.

I wouldn't presume to act as if I knew the slightest bit about you. I'm just telling you how it is around here, with the certain demographics I was exposed to growing up. Another anecdote: I had to have back surgery when I was 18 to remove a piece of a herniated disc at L4/L5. The local neurosurgeon was a black guy. One of my dad's friends found out and started asking if I knew whether or not that "nigger" stuck his dick in my ass when I was under. I can tell other stories if you'd like. The point is - where I grew up, and the people I was acquainted with, those who made the same statement you made usually turned out to be the worst racist hatemonger cockbiting fucktards I've ever had the misfortune to meet.)
