What your vote does count for is telling the electoral college their chances of getting re-appointed to their position. If the votes represent a statistical winner then they better vote that way or they may not be voting much longer themselves.
Ballot counters only matter in as much as what the Electoral College sees as their chances of getting reelected once they vote their own way. However, I don't know of any circumstances where the electoral college votes differently than the populice (with the exception of statistical ties).
And you wonder why they jump on the bandwagon with responses such as this. Frankly, you don't speak for me. I care very much about the rest of the world. ESPECIALLY in Austrailia. I have friends there. They are good allies of ours. They are one of the few places left where Americans can travel and feel welcome.
Of course, I know I just took the bait but I hate to see responses like this further the supposed stereotype that the world has of us (Anyone see Team America? That was somy funny shit).
Consequently, I don't want to see Bush win if it's just for the reason to piss off the rest of the world. You must be like 15 or something.
I would have to say, however, that you would not have put your.sig there if you did not intend people the read it. Therefore, I would suppose it becomes part of your content indefinitely. Especially given the fact that you have part of it in bold thus trying to attact (perhaps) even more attention to it.
I am not saying I agree with the Mods modding you down just for your sig but you cannot say it is not part of your content.
BTW, please disregard the shameless plug I have in my.sig. If I were modded down for the plug, I would understand and would accept it. Afterall, I AM the one who put it there.
I am actually getting her close to being O/S agnostic. I have converted her to Firefox (she got us one serious PITA virus via IE) as well as getting her warmed up to OpenOffice. However, she always finds that one thing she "needs" from IE (her work uses an older-shitty Outlook Web access for email) or from Office (their work computers have Office so for things like PoweerPoint she needs 100% compatibility).
However, I do have Linux running on my laptop and she barely notices (read: complains) the difference. If I were to go to MacOS X now she would proabaly say "Woah... what's with all this new stuff, I want my Windows back"
You forgot to add into you lawsuit the hate crime because of the color of it.slashdot.org. Even though we don't know your ethnicicity/creed/religion we intended it to be hateful torwards you anyway.
Also, make sure you disgrace your actual heritiage by constantly trying to us it to your advantage in a court of law.
I would not. It has nothing to do with which OS deserves the most merit. I started on a PC, I work (develop) on a PC and I have the most experience with a PC. I have a few computer running Linux so if I were to swtich (permanently) to anything it would be Linux.
If I had started on a Mac, developed on a Mac, and had more experience with a Mac I wouldn't swtich to a PC. Linux would probably remain the constant in the equation.
I have Mac experience, only OS 9.1 though, and the first thing I did was put Mandrake PPC on the hardware. Not that I didn't like Mac OS but I decided to "switch" to Linux.
Now, the only two things holding me to Windows (and not going totally Linux) are #1 my wife and #2 the games. I even tried to get the wife to use MacOS 9 a while back and because she was not familiar with it she hated it. Chalk one up for "Microsoft Zombie" I suppose.
Uh... speaking as a man (lemme check... yeah I'm a guy) I can attest to say that any food smell is an aphrodisiac... hell, a swift wind or a "honey, let's go" is all I ever need.
To me, this is just a little but too large. I would much rather see something in a pseduo-rack mount chasis (e.g. low profile) with a rise card for the expansion slots. Personally, I have pretty limited height in my "media center" so I opted for a nice black mATX case that sits on it's side.
And as many have mentioned already, I think the price is a big issue here as one could buy an older Tivo/ReplayTV and mod the crap out of it for under $50. If you mess it up or can't get it to work it's no big loss.
I agree. If you are going to say something "jumped the shark" I believe the precedent is to specify the episode and action that you believe caused said jumping.
In my opinion, I haven't found it funny recently but I do not think the "mass" agree with me so I do not feel it has jumped-the-shark officially.
Heheh. I said hole... hehehehe. Er... that was supposed to be whole in case anyone out there actually didn't already figure that out. Thanks for listening, please carry on with your -1 Offtopic moderations.
I thought the "money changed hands" was the hole point the ancestor::poster made. He cannot cash the check or use the cash. Chances are the scambaiter isn't going to be "long gone" as are the scammers.
... which is exactly what I did with DVD. Had I jumped early and got a digital video player I may have been talked into Divx by the pushy salesman. By the time I got a DVD player, Divx was looong gone.
Same held true for a DVD burner. I waited a VERY long time before getting a burner. It wasn't until last year when I was able to pick up a multi-format RW for real cheap.
I'll plan on doing the same thing for HD-BlueRay-VD.
I cannot count the number of times a DISTINCT has burried a flaw in some SQL of mine and developers on my TEAM. Now I give people a slap on the wrist during code reviews for using DISTINCT when not absolutely necessary.
I actually just submitted a comment in total agreement. Same goes for PHP or any other script/programming language out there that is widespread. People can write some scary code and then just blame it on the engine.
I find MySql to be very high in performance when queries are written concisely and correctly. Heck, I have seen (and written) some Oralce PL/SQL that has horrific performance just to rewrite it concisely and correctly and have it perform very well indeed.
The engine is only going to run as good as the crap you (developers) put into it. I would go so far as to say the simply due to the pervasiveness of MySql there are for more horrible script examples out there than for PostgreSQL.
Personally, I use to correct tool for the job. BLOG? Hell ya use MySql. OLAP? Hell no. But you could make it work and work well if you wanted to.
I do enjoy a good piss into the wind while picking my belly button lint.

And his heiress made some deeelicious ketchup. Well, maybe not personally, but you get the joke.
Riiiight. Self-loating .... 15 it is then. Have you even met an Austrailian? Do you know where Austrailia is located?
... I know ...baited ... but this is fun.
Yeah yeah yeah

I take particular offense to that. Since humans can also be food for some other animals on the planet I am going to sue you for a hate crime.

I remeber frequently seeing the crash screen from an Amiga on the cable tv guide channel. I always thought that was funny.
Amen Brother. MySql is blazingly fast when used correctly as are most RDBMS'. I am sure these people disagree though: MySql Customers

I think the fact that this is modded +Informative is damn hilarious. Almost as hilarous as Tyson Chicken and Sanders' Fried Chicken. Mmmm Chiiicken.
In this case you're a third reply troll. Ha ... ha ... ha... but seriously folks, I'm here all night. Try the veal.

-1 Overrated? You, Mr. Moderator, must have been offended by "writing bad SQL" remark...
