What's wrong with CRT? I recently purchased a couple of 21' CRTs, though I admit that cost was a major factor. That said, after I had them gamma-calibrated, I now look at images I took with my digtal camera or watch movies and I'm so pleased with them. I can also watch them from any angle, something that can be said even for TFT.
Only thing that worries me is how much power they consume, I still need to get that tested.
I already am recording my life; I use a small logitech pocket video 550 that uses SD cards and AA batteries. I can record over two and a half hours of good quality video with audio (how good? I watch it full screen on a 22' monitor and it looks great - it's that good!) on a 512mb SD card and sometimes more, depending on content, as the other night i forgot to switch it off as I slept and one recording went on for over 4 hours as it recorded me asleep in the dark, and there were already other recordings on the SD card (it was amazingly interesting to hear me breathe and move as I sleep and the noises i made; a bizarre insight, but that's not the point, I mainly use it as a video diary or journal and found it extremely useful). The batteries I use are 2300mah AA NIMH rechargeables. So storage and batteries are not a problem as I already have two 512mb SD cards and over a dozen high-capacity batteries. I download them regularly to my other 160gb HD, which has enough capacity for a year. I can also burn them to verbatim datalife DVDs which aren't that expensive over time.
Sounds crazy? Not at all. I would say I'm a much much healthier and self-aware person since i started recording and watching myself. It was difficult at first, both in terms of how uncomfortable it made me feel and building the habit, but now it's an essential part of what I do.
What is the problem? information overload! Say I record 5 hours a day, which I already can, when will I find the time to watch all this?! as a result I've been recording roughly two hours a day or quite often less than that and then just watching random bits whenever I'm on the computer, using the shuffle mode in the player to play items from either recently or the hundreds I've accumulated so far as they all can be playlisted with a simple search for a keyword they all have in common. So there you go, I'm already using half or less of the capacity I really have.
The idea of recording even more makes me feel a certain degree of uneasiness about how the information overload may dramatically worsen.
Yeah it always amazes me how the media always seems to detail terror possibilities, and do so competitively.
As for al-Zawahiri, I recall seeing a documentary on the BBC that had a clip of his trial in the early 1980s in Egypt for the assasination of Sadat and I was amazed when he seemed to directly address the media from behind bars and speak defiantly in very fluent, very clear and very articulate English.
"In November 1995, the partially completed (Russian) shuttles were dismantled at their production site. The manufacturing plant is scheduled to be converted for production of buses, syringes, and diapers."
I second this question. I have installed SP2 and I can't say that I noticed much difference to my machine. It seems more responsive but I honestly don't see much difference at all. Certainly nothing that's a linux Killer.
Which of them do I dislike more; christian preachers or gay activists?
It's a tough decision; christian preachers don't wanna stop telling me about Jesus and how he'd "save" me while they siphon the money of the disabled who wish for a miracle to make them "walk again", and gay activist don't seem to wanna stop disgusting me with their "pride" in flabby, pasty, acned, hairy and badly tanned bondage asses on their marches in the middle of my friggin' afternoon.
The games will make money from advertising and commercial sponsorship deals, but eventhough, it's already clear that the Greek taxpayers will suffer for a decade out of hosting the Olympics.
What is ominous though about this 1.5bn cost is how it'll serve as both a precedent and a de facto early-adopter funding for the emerging "security" technologies and therefore providing you with *security*, an act that's indistinguishable from monitoring your activities, will be a thing that's far more normal and affordable for a government to do.
After all, who would be opposed to "security"? surely someone *evil* who's up to an *evil* thing; The good, law-abiding citizens have nothing to hide! *sarcasm*
This is in quite the same way the CIA conducts "enhanced interrogation techniques", more commonly known around the world as *torture*, but hey, torture is only ugly word, gotta use more palatable words that the public will accept such as... ummm... homeland security?!
Thanks for mentioning the contextual menu. Yes, the contexual menu was one main thing i didn't mention, but I certainly remember made a big big impression on me. I remember that on mac there was a hack that someone who used to work for Apple did and released personally, but it was a joke because the context menu options weren't really as useful as those of windows. Ah, those cut/copy/paste with a right click! Whereas with mac you had to use both mouse and keyboard, and not only keyboard but hold a key and press another on the keyboard! Okay they were close to each other but still, not as smooth. As for windows, I still think it's more usable than mac; I hated that I had to travel from window to menu then to window back again on the mac, whereas on windows you just kept your attention on the window of the applications and your menues and contextual menues were all inside it. Also, things on windows were just simpler; quick launch, task bar, system tray, it was all just so simple, no nonsense and very practical.
Oh come on. Windows 9x/NT was better than Mac OS 9 and prior.
I know this for a fact because at one time I owned a mac that had OS 9 as my only computer and I recall going with my girlfriend to her college computer labs that had windows 9x/NT with MS office. Windows was just no nonsense usability. Write your paper, print it, simple no-nonsense usuability. The Start button just made perfect sense, task bar, quick launch, system tray, file explorer, and having menus on windows did too. I really wondered then why I was using a mac.
I used to read zdnet a while ago when David Coursey was there, but ever since he got squeezed out it totally sucked. They have this self-promoting Esther Dyson working there whom they interview every now and then and headline her on the front page for a whole week or so; she's such a bore to listen to and her "release 1.0" monthly newsletter is priced at ~$800 yearly subscription. She made me hate the word "visionary".
If your client just wants to write an article, then he may want to consdier a laptop alternative such as those made by alphasmart; they can get 700 hours from 3 AA batteries, it's palmOS-powered, and it has full-sized querty keybaord. Or maybe they can use a PDA with an AA battery extender and an optional keyboard.
I think he probably meant that instead of you recording a sitcom and then burning it that you would actually go out to the mall, BUY a DVD of the show that they sell and then send it to your family member or friend.
I usually read slashdot for the funny posts. It's remarkable that all the top-rated ones in this thread regarding the INDUCE act are either rated "interesting" or "insightful". I guess this sums up how seriously people feel about this issue.
it's interesting that more and more japanese companies are merging; seiko epson, konica minolta... etc. I wonder what this says about the state of japanese and global economy.
It's very understandable; people needs jobs and governments want taxes, not the propagation of hippie dogma (don't say this is trolling or flamebaiting, it's reality).
Imagine the sky squirming with vehicles going at 365mph.. How safe can this be considering all the trouble we're having on the ground already despite our slow cars and their constrained paths.

In the coded message of what seems like an email about a boy's Birthday party, it says:
"Don't think of showering as it may harm your health."
Okay stinker!
But then it finishes with
"I don't have any gravel [probably ammunition or bomb-making material]"
How this is supposed to fool anyone, I don't know.
From this page:
"In November 1995, the partially completed (Russian) shuttles were dismantled at their production site. The manufacturing plant is scheduled to be converted for production of buses, syringes, and diapers."
Gotta love capitalism.
Make me wanna see them all; especially the very worst. I've been quite bored with supposedly good movies failing to excite me.
STrangely, for all the bad things I heard about this movie (gigli), I really wanna see it now to understand what all the condemnation was about.
I second this question. I have installed SP2 and I can't say that I noticed much difference to my machine. It seems more responsive but I honestly don't see much difference at all. Certainly nothing that's a linux Killer.
Naiive logic; you're forgetting the fact that financial incentive is one of the strongest motivators.

I'd say to hell with both.
A hope that Dextre won't be a prank in the good ol' tradition of Canadian sense of humor.

Man, you're gonna upset hippies who'll be totally against the idea of us poluting virgin space with our radiation-emitting scrap. *tongue-in-cheek*

"When using hundreds encyclopedia-like together it cannot concern to gereihten terms,..."
I don't know why, though i've never heard the word before, gereihten sounds a 100 times more expressive than any English word.

they can always look it up in urbandictionary
