Jennings has an enormous advantage in that every other contestant has to work their way through the tournament and Ken gets an automatic seed in the final game.
They ought to throw him into the tournament with everyone else. If he won the tournament legitimately, that would really be something. Sticking him in the finals to win one game is less impressive, as really impressive stuff goes.
You need moderation IN THE WORST WAY on the discussion boards. Something I picked out just going to my local Craigslist Open Forum:
Do you have a problem giving a guy a BJ right after he takes a piss? If not, then have you ever tasted a bit of his piss when he cums inside your mouth?
I mean, if you want to have an "Adult" board or let's say, a "Racists" board, then fine. But this stuff really doesn't have a place on an Open Forum for a decent-sized city.
Prediction: Microsoft is purposefully sitting on 64-bit Windows until Intel gets their 64-bit x86 chip out the door. Although the Athlon64 is selling well, I bet AMD is PISSED.
The problem isn't lack of expertise. The problem is shitty documentation. I'd LOVE to use Open Source more often. Everyone I work with looks at Microsoft first. I think that's insane. I ALWAYS look for an Open Source solution first. (As a side note, why in the hell is ANYONE paying money for WinZip when 7-Zip is free?) Anyway, OSS documentation tends to be poor, non-existent or outdated. (Functionality changed a few hundredths of a version ago and nobody updated the docs.) Yes, I know I can contribute, blah, blah, blah. Doesn't change the current situation.
Parent: I'm sure you're a reasonably intelligent person. You're screaming on an Internet message board (blog, news site, whatever...) about what are, to 95% of the population, highly esoteric IMAGE FORMATS. Maybe try channeling that considerable "energy" (relgious fervor) into something a little more worthwhile? Just a suggestion.
I agree that RAW formats and an image format like PNG are apples and oranges. (Not really econo cars and jumbo jets.) Point is that what's wrong with PNG as an image format is that it does not support EXIF tags, which makes it pretty useless for storing digital images.
You've never ripped a CD to MP3/FLAC/APE/whatever? I rip all my CDs, and they serve as backups to the originals. I'd imagine that there are tens (hundreds?) of millions of people who have ripped at least some of their CDs. If my originals are lost/stolen/ruined, I can burn another copy. You really don't know anyone who has ever ripped a CD?
Ever heard of Tim McVeigh? How about William Krar? Google him. Tom Metzger? How about Jerry Falwell, who blamed liberals for 9/11? The Anthrax terrorist was likely a right-wing extremist. The Atlanta Olympic bomber was likely a right-wing extremist. How about Kevin Ray Patterson and Charles Dennis Kiles? I could also throw in Neo Nazis and the KKK.
Left-wing extremists are by and large, non-violent whackos. Right-wing extremists tend to be violent. I can't see basing my vote on the extremists in either party. Extremists are by definition on the extreme. If anything, I'd say Republicans have a bigger extremist tent than Democrats. Why not make a decision on, oh I don't know, policy?
I will agree that DOSing these sites is NOT a good idea, though I sincerely doubt that it's going to turn anyone off to John Kerry. You seem to be trying to rationalize a decision you've already made.
There just seems to be no good reason to do this. They claim that they're doing this to get rid of their DOS-based system. The application has nothing to do with the network transport mechanism. They could just as easily re-write the existing application to use private lines as they could to use the Internet.
This project was apparently driven by the vice president of national marekting at the Fed. Why does this position even exist? Does the Fed have any competitors at all?
For those of you that have never worked in Government IT, there is only one thing you need to know. Write this down, because you may need it one day: Government IT does eveything the stupidest way imaginable.
VMWare - Nonpersistent Disk Mode
Changes to disks in nonpersistent mode are not saved to the disks, but are lost when the virtual machine is powered off or reset.
Nonpersistent mode is convenient for people who always want to start with a virtual machine in the same state. Example uses include providing known environments for software test and technical support users as well as doing demonstrations of software.
Who says what Apple's intent was in making the iPod? The fact is that it CAN be used as an infringing device and this law would make its non-infringing uses irrelevant, ergo - the iPod is illegal.
If you have DirecTV, call 800-347-3288 and opt-out.
If you have any other TiVo, call 877-367-8486 and opt-out.
I don't know why we're still having this discussion. Either the parent is ignorant or has an axe to grind. Parent - crying wolf about this hurts the fight against REAL invasions of privacy (PATRIOT Act, Operation TIPS, Total Information Awareness).
Parking meters are simple and reliable. Nothing like taking something that just works and replacing it with something else that is infinitely more complex, break-prone and expensive. Besides which, people will never use these things successfully. "Put coin in slot next to car" is as smart as people are. Seriously. People are going to pay for the wrong parking spots, pay too much money, and so on. Bad idea.
In George Carlin's latest act, he talks about how someone should make an 'All-Suicide Channel' because that's the ultimate reality TV. And people would line up to watch. That's essentially what's beginning to happen here.
It wouldn't be the first time Carlin predicted a trend. A few years back, he predicted that some nut would go apeshit and shoot up a church. Not more than six months later, it happened for the first time.
One last thing - you people that thinks a man killing himself is funny, go back to Fark, where you belong.
Wrong! Every one of those costs are recoupable by the record company. That means the record company fronts the money for these expenses, but the money is taken out the band's $1 per album before the band gets a penny. Bottom line - record comanies don't pay these costs, the band does.
Americans give less than a shit about their right to free speech or their Fourth Amendment privacy rights. But if you mess with their right to drive an grossly oversized vehicle or watch porn, you're playing with fire.

This doesn't stop people from putting Anthrax in an envelope and mailing it, so once again, we have a solution in search of a problem.

The actual updates are here:

Windows Update wants you to download Windows XP SP2, which I'm not ready to do.

I've got a 120 GB drive in my DirecTV DVR and I have never had this problem. Maybe they gave me "the good code".
Not sure if you're in the UK, but in the US, DirecTV PVR with TiVo has dual tuners.

My DirecTV with TiVo works fine for me. Maybe it's just you.

Keynote is a very good open source hierarchical notes organizer. However, it's Win32 only. http://sourceforge.net/projects/keynote/
All conservatives spout the same nonsense: I will say the exact opposite of what I do.
Yes. They bought TechTV to get rid of their competition.

It's still unusable, in my opinion. How about the option to do it either way?
I disagree. I think it will be a DMCA violation to circumvent your BIOS to run anything other than Windows.
