    The RIAA has said it expects to file at least several hundred lawsuits seeking financial damages as early as next month. U.S. copyright laws allow for damages of $750 to $150,000 for each song offered illegally on a person's computer, but the RIAA has said it would be open to settlement proposals from defendants.

    The RIAA, the trade group for the largest record labels, said it also found other hidden evidence inside the woman's music files suggesting the songs were recorded by other people and distributed across the Internet.

    why dont they just start lawsuits, then settle out of court for the people to pay subscription fees into one of thier music websites?

    that way, they keep thier customer base, the consumers dont get up in arms, legal music grows in users... etc

    instead of suing them for $250,000 each song...

    One Piece is a currently running anime (163 eps so far) about sea pirates, very cool stuff...
    it was licensed by funimation, so expect a long wait until dvds/tv.

    word on the internet says ep 112 and movie 4 will soon be out subtitled.

    Although I agree that this is sort of tenuous as far as /. news goes, my guess is that if the story really was submitted by an undercover marketer, they would have at least waited for the website to be online. At least, I'd wait until then.

    its just a plot to advertise on slashdot without getting slashdotted.

    i have been using popfile for a while, but its accuracy still isint good enough to skip over just yet...

    maybe i should restart it, mightve let one or two spam emails go into home, thats the problem with bayes filtering is if you make a mistake you have to restart ;\

    2.) Sex. While it may seem a bit innapropriate for the older crowd here, most people from the age of 13+ have sex on the mind, either sex appeal or actually shagging. While of course there may not be a whole lot of knowledge in the area, there's still the curiosity and since mom and dad usually won't take the time to explain sex as it might actually lead to little billy and suzie wanting to try it, they turn to the one source they can find.


    heh, i find this silly, has anyone actually done this? sex is instinctual, you dont need to tell anyone anything. only to watch for disease! eek! thats why each and every teenager, whos generally not-stupid as hell, will scoff at such an attempt to teach him/her.

    when was it said that just because a thing uses batteries instead of fossil fuels means its less-pollutant?

    electricity has to come from somewhere, coal or nuculear plants. has anyone done the math to count in a battery operated car vs a conventional car?

    i'm not trolling, i'm all for new technology. just dont stuff it down our throats because its new or different.

    otherwise its a great idea, albiet way too late, pgp and others have been out for a long time. pkware should have had encryption from day one, instead of simple password protection.
