And D Kanuth is in no way an Einstein. I stand by my proving of programs point, can you prove whatever you produce via logic or do you prefer to idolise a 'CS' guy?... up to you.

Here is a very simple trawl of BBC news over the past couple of months:

A link here (about MS), another here (about Alzheimer), another here about epileptics, some say it kills pain, oh, and here is something saying it may be available with a year. And this is a very simple search of the BBc website. How about searching the medical research council or even the medicine department of your local college.

This amount of material in (a tiny section of) the public domain being "virtually no studies to base any conclusions on" is just false. Medical studies take time but there are plenty being done.

Don't take the cr4p commercial providers throw at you, they want you to think they and you are right and everything else is wrong, so you trust and follow them more. Don't be a fool.

funny how the layman has an opinion but doesn't respect the experts in the respective field because he has been drip-fed 'revolutionary' ideas by CNN, hippies, etc who want to get the glory but do not put in the effort to see if it works.

I can publish a book "hackers guide to the medical community... how physicians fail to pescribe the correct drugs" and if it makes a nice pretty logical explanation of the subject you will beleive me and not spend 9 years in college getting a pharma PhD and some research experience which would allow you a position to talk with some degree of knowledge.

Like how sys admins are always cr4p because the computers don't run 100% of the time or programmers allow bugs in their code - clearly incompetant. These things are just machines and instructions afterall, you must be incompetant not to prove your software/hardware through logic... so what's the point of testing it?

    STFU.

Yes I agree with you seeing a movie is enhanced by the finer points, but there is nothing hard about opening Kazaa, typing the name of the movie you want, double clicking on the version that seems to have the most 'users' and leaving the PC on overnight. Of course I am talking kazaalite.tk which gives instant access to the kazaa network at god-like karma. Yes it is that easy... type the name, select a credible chance (selecting one with XviD and AAC is a bonus but not rare!!), double click, wake up the next day with the movie. Of course, I completely condemn this behaviour if the download file is not permitted to be freely distributed. Do not download _copyrighted_ films. No.. Don't... Really!!!!

DVDs are not too big for broadband. MPEG-2 (DVD) can be converted to MPEG-4 (Xvid, DivX 5x or whatever) more than ^1/4 size but little reduction in video quality (and hey, AAC audio is on many Kazaa'd .AVIs, MP3'd audio is not awful).

So on a entry level broadband (512kbps) I can dl an almost DVD quality movie in 3 hours (no extras, but extras suck compared to the finished product).

DVDs (DVD-Rs being writable DVDs) can be reduced to VCDs with a few bells and whistles. there is not much scope for size-bloat to prevent size-reduction and pirating.

In HK (used to live there) you could buy _legal_ VCDs (menaing guaranteed quality, recoursability, etc) of the latest DVDs a month after DVDs hit the streets at only US$3/movie. HK has a lot of piracy, but this policy benefitted the legal distro channels and originating studios a lot.

What's next? Everyone must accept the latin script (or rather the English bastardisation of it)? What will I do when I want to code my APL, I'll have no greek letters to use. And damn, think about the amount of money the US will lose from the lack of expansion of IT in countries which no not use the bastardised latin script??? Hell, computers were _designed_ to run in English after all. No accent marks? Tough sh!t I say.
