  2. Glass while driving is extremely dangerous on Google Glass Integration For Cars Is Coming: Neat Idea Or Crazy Town? · · Score: 5, Insightful

This is a terrible idea. Trying to read Glass while driving is VERY difficult, and you get the false sense of security that you are still "looking" at the road, when really you are not at all focused on anything in front of you. I tried it for a bit and was amazed how hard it was and how dangerous it felt. I would never use it like that. I think I'd be safer taking quick glances down at my phone with the maps app than trying to use Glass.

Microsoft has been moving very strongly into the IaaS and PaaS market with the various Azure offerings over the last 5 years, and it's totally clear that they are making this a huge part of their business going forward. This is why they are promoting the number of servers they have, because providing those resources to people on demand is how they will make a large part of their revenue going forward.

I have been trying to hire a .net developer for 6 months now. I have had person after person come in with great resumes, 5 years experience, 10 years experience, 15 years experience, only to watch them crash and burn when tested. My test is just a series of questions, usually open ended, that I ask during the interview. Just last week a developer with 15 years experience couldn't tell me what an interface was. Clearly the question about abstract classes and factories would be pointless so I just skipped the entire OO section. Another guy didn't know what a web service was... and this is a web developer position. I have found that once you get past the general BS answers and actually ask them to explain something: "What I type in google.com, how do I get their web page?" they (unqualified people) crash and burn. We have had a few who did fine, but we couldn't hire them or couldn't seal the deal, for a number of reasons. I bet lawyers get asked similar test questions "If you had a client who ... what would you suggest to them?"

    The program is fantastic!

I went back and started reading more of the comments and it became clear that many "reviews" either a) hadn't used the program, b) were just bitching about the cost $20 in hopes of getting the developer to drop the price or c) just doing basic trolling like the reviews saying something like "Obama must like this b/c he wants everyone to learn spanish" 1/5 stars.

I submitted a positive review, but it seems unfair to everyone that the system is used in this manner.

Yes, and as I said in my post, Conyers has already HAD a copy of that bill in his committee for months, and has already decided "what happens next", he will let the bill die.

The reason Kucinich brought it to the floor was because Conyers and the J.C. were refusing to do anything on the matter.

Here, this article pretty much sums it up: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/11/6/164257/349

"The previous question was ordered, Hoyer moved to refer the bill to committee, and the 80+ Democrats who earlier insisted they didn't want Kucinich's bill to die on the Speaker's table instead voted to let it die on Chairman Conyers' table instead.

So the bill goes to the Judiciary Committee. Where it will sit next to Kucinich's other resolution calling for the impeachment of Cheney, which was offered through regular channels back in April."

  24. Phishing Filter Killed Our Site on IE7 Compatibility a Developer Nightmare · · Score: 1

I wrote some realy slick server controls for our web app that used Javascript/DHTML to provide a series of panels that you could expand, and it would load the content dynamically.

Basically, you would click on a menu, and it would expand a panel below the menu (in a cool sliding fashion) before finally resizing the panel based on how large the dynamic content was.

Well, if you have the Phishing Filter turned on, this would process would spike the CPU, and the "cool sliding action" was reduced to a super super slow crawl.

This happened even though our site was a "Trusted site".

We even found that if you disable the phishing filter when you install IE, you have to still go manually disable it later. So retarded.
