If company X provide a product for a specific purpose does the consumer has the right to use the product in any way he feels fit?     NT, Linux, BSD, Solaris, MacOS these are only tools. Rememeber it not a war of OS here it is about getting the job done the best way possible.

    Now with this released let KDE/GNOME compete on merit not politics. The sad fact is that KDE is at a disadvantage because of the Big corporate sponsership of Gnome. This does not mean that KDE can not get sponsered by these same companies. It just mean that KDE would have to have another project within the companies. Intel sponsers BEOS and Linux because it helps them sell hardware. If a company can see that they can make money of sponsering KDE they will.

I doubt they would try and create a new market.

    These people do not understand that we are not tring to any wrong.
    Message to the company
    We are just creating an application that can use YOUR product. We would think you would be happy about this. Do you understand if your company tries and stop people from exploring the possiblity with your product. That you will hurt only your own sales. Instead of tring to stop this you should at least try and work with the people who could possibily be creating a set of customers for you.

    I believe they can do this with out breaching the privacy policy. For instance if company X wants to seel to Amazons' computers books buyers then amazon will contact those buyers with the offer and no data is transfered to outside parties so they did not sell your information to this company they sold the right to contact amamzon's user. I heard of this being done so privacy contracts are not breached.

    Companies sell your data all the time. They do not need the internet for that. Credit card companies, mail order companies, magazines ... ect. They were doing this before the internet exploded. I received a mailing for thinkgeek (which I think is cool) where do you think they got my address from them I never purchased anything from them. They bought my name from somewhere because I was labeled as a linux geek. On the internet there is less information being given out then your Credit Card company. People are complaining about privacy when privacy died years ago.

    If some creates a new distro or a sub distro that is complaint but would only give the source code to the owner of the product. I do not see the problem with this. It would not violate the GNU license since you only have to give the source to the people who own the program. That would solve the problems. Or just create a BSD distro that is complaint. You do not have to give any code to anyone.

I am talking about bacterial life that was formed from with the earth and then if the condtions outside were ok they came and formed into more complex lifeform the answer may not be above but below
