I've been awaiting my cd since SUN first posted the whole "Mad Hatter" blurb. By "live CD" am I to understand this is the same deal as Knoppix? I installed Knoppix as a lightweight debian system by running "knx-hdinstall" at the console. Any such install possibilities with this puppy?
How true and the point in the article about the unavailability of high speed access in rural areas turning people off is valid. In Maine you can be a few miles off the grid and be screwed. I've got an offer of a sea kayak for my laptop
Adios!
You've totally overlooked Debian Libranet which has an easier install than Mandrake, fantastic hardware support and the power of apt-get. Makes my old IBM laptop (Coppermine) faster than my Powerbook..

Wait 'til they all run it for awhile-and pay their "dues" the proof of the pudding..
I'd say the mouse next to my Next cube workstation here in the lab would be right up there...

We/they could spend the money on already existing five year olds...
I installed Libranet 2.8 (Debian) and it installed my PCMCIA card flawlessly.
