If I had a stab at it, it means the region is under our sphere of control (control means political as well as economic).
This is not (if you need to be told) about peoples good, as I seem to remember Colin Powell (the Bush administration) were for moderate (i'll allow you to define moderate) Taliban in Afghanistan initially, as apposed to the war lords (the northern alliance). The people are the Bombed from the air, if there are any casualties we mean good, dammit. If innocent Women and Children are harmed the justification is usually, we were after a terrorist (again I leave it to you to define terrorist). What we have to under stand is if we kill some kids family who will look after him/her, the war lords or our army. The Taliban will most likely take up the role as foster home, so strengthening them. Before you ask me what side I am on what side are you on, is it with the innocent in Afghanistan/Iraq and else where.
We have to question our self sometimes, I remember When Iraq was being sanctioned (during the 90's) and hearing the problems this was causing the people there, my initial reaction was so what. Children where dieing because of a lack of medicine and supplies getting through. Would we do this in Northern Ireland, if not, why in Afghanistan/Iraq. Are we that Conditioned by propaganda that we don't care about others suffering, that the suffering of one group is more or less dependent on there skin colour, and whether we have had hostility to them in the past.
One thing that I have noticed is that the original article, written by Richard Gabriel, outlining c/unix (worse) over lisp (better) has been totally ignored. Richard Gabriel was suggesting c/unix had got some things right and conceded
It is important to remember that the initial virus has to be basically good.
he also said
However, I believe that worse-is-better, even in its strawman form, has better survival characteristics than the-right-thing, and that the New Jersey approach when used for software is a better approach than the MIT approach.
MIT approach being another name for better/lisp model of development.
This leads him to say
I think there will be a next Lisp. This Lisp must be carefully designed, using the principles for success we saw in worse-is-better.
I intend (at some point) to learn lisp so this is not an attack on this language, as I believe learning it will make me a better programmer.
As for the Alex Payne I choose the great programmers who have worked on TCP/IP etc over the past 40 years, than him.
Sorry jumped the gun there is video in the article, but the article I linked to has
Spacewar! - mistakenly said to be the first video game ever.
Magnavox - first ever commercially available home videogame
Nolan Bushnell's - Atari
All with more detail than the main article, along with video.
Python is a simple but powerful language. Cambridge University Press is about to publish this book by Allen B. Downey. The link above shows a free online version.
Was getting rid of Glass-Steagall act a good idea. This act meant banks and brokerages were separate entities. Banks could not deal in risky transactions (such as underwriting corporate or municipal securities), keeping private money safe.
Maybe youtube needs to have some sort of moderator system, like slashdot, so that deleted content can be viewed by them and reinstated if necessary.
We then can have a balances between peoples right to security (which out weighs your right to free speech) and free speech. Thwarting any reasonable sounding excuse politically motivated entities have for curtailing free speech.
This guy seems to have bothered you, I have never read his blog but, as you find it so threating there must be some value in it. Thanks for the recommendation.
Understanding complicated matters, such as law, is always hard because of the bad advice that goes about. I commend you RIAA for your services to education.
ps. please note that this is just the communicational style of spin, spin is a uthamism for PR (Public relations). Public relations was a term coined by Bernard Hays, and was a rebranding of the word propaganda. It involves manipulative techniques aimed at misleading the general public. A fictitious example would be Tony Blair announcing a new initiative. This initiative was also announced a number of years ago, along with other initiatives. As no one is keeping a track of his ideas its seems he is full of ideas and busily working on many important objectives.
This is a fictitious example but I am sure Ian Duncan Smith (Conservative ex leader) caught Tony Blair doing this in the house of parliament during prime minister question time.
Having had Tony Blair as our prime minister for 10 years I feel that I am now an authority on spin. It is essentially another word for BULL SHIT. It involves an individual talking without semantically meaning anything*. Specially chosen words are used that have resonance with individuals, thus allowing the listener to feel they empathize with the speaker.
* Please note this gives advantage to the bullshitter in that he or she is not held by anything that they have said
Seriously with the kind flexibility Linux gives the computing world, it will invent (and has) new markets (super computing clusters, cloud computing are examples). Microsoft can't compete with this (and can't kill it).
Mr Gates you can't compete!
Linux has opened the market on price (MID/Sub notebook). It has opened the possibility of other architectures, (MIPS etc). Is on mobile devices, where is your margin on these systems Mr Gates.
that includes the public.
Telling every politician and journalist in earshot is hardly effective, what if they ignore you, or can only add there sole voice to yours. I am not saying people working to gather can't change things but words won't do a thing, there needs to be a stronger civil society.
Plaintiff Jonathan Lee Riches sued Defendants Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Maddox Jolie Pitt, Zahara Jolie Pitt, Shiloh Jolie Pitt, and Pax Jolie Pitt. Plaintiff alleged that Defendants Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie kidnapped Madeleine McCann in a major conspiracy plot to adopt her against her will, as part of a secret plot to take, kidnap and adopt a child from each of the 192 world wide countries. Plaintiff stated that he learned about the plot from his pen pal Billy Bob Thorton.
I agree, I wish I had mod points, please mod this guy up, if you have any problems with his views discuss them here first, instead modding down. Then mod down if you don't agree
2001 - Banning real voters (using data meant to ban convicted criminals, but targeting democrat voters, mostly black people), recount proves Al-gore should be the president, republicans fail to get recount stopped in supreme court
2004 - One million Diebold voting machines, votes counted on private Diebold premises. Results known only to select individuals (media looks the other way, announcing no dimpled chads etc)
2008 - ? Whats going to happen this year
Is this for real, i mean guardian say it is while the bbc say it isn't
P.S. Guardian is a bit left wing, BBC prone to side with Government/Official view.

Sorry but after being enticed to idle I always get burnt, from now on I will not come hear.
are you crazy... idle is crap, rid us of this abomination now.

You need to understand propaganda China, never tell overt lies. Look to the masters in Europe and America for guidance.
never been to London then.

P.S. I am not American
don't expect the media to notice, they'll look very hard for dimpled chads etc and announce no problems with this election.
the worst thing is even if the next election was rigged no body would really do anything.
Loon or visionary
