To wait until that happens would be folly on their part. Do you think they should wait until Linux starts to take a large part of the pie before responding? It is always better to recognize a small threat and respond before it becomes a major threat which is usually too late.
When the opposition starts to use fud and only fud to defend itself it can only mean that it is scared. This is a sign that Linux is gaining momentum and MS will go to any lengths to stop it. The tides are turning. Stay the course and in the end the better OS will win. These are classic tactics used throughout the business world on a daily basis, do not think that this is a personal attack. But also remember that when the enemy is on the ropes, you should do everything in your power to deliver the final blow.
I would like to know a timeline in which this happened. How long ago, remember, times change and despite what you may think, something may have been learned through that ordeal. p.s. not a fanboy - just looking at it realistically.
Been using it for a few weeks now and seems to stop just about everything coming in. Don't know if i can really vouch for it yet but it seems to stop stuff on the way in which is easier than cleaning up after the fact.
Let's not be too alarmist here. This is the automotive market here, bad press for them is the deathnell of a product. If anybody is going to test, retest and test again it will be them. I am not a fanboy but I know that this is a market segment that relies heavily on reliable products and will spend untold millions if not billions just on testing alone.
As an anti-enviromentalist (movement not concept), I don't beieve this is the right apporach. I believe that what comes from the earth should return there. The idea of taking stuff from here and transporting it to somewhere off planet is messing with the balance. I remember trying to put plastic containers in a field to use as markers for trees (long story) and after about 2 years had to be replaced as they had decomposed. This flies against all the enviromentalists saying they will stay here forever. What comes from mother nature will be returned there soon enough with or without our help. Nature will find a way and if you think you have control over that that you are sadly mistaken. - Caution - poster has been drinking heavily.
the government is your enemy - no exceptions. This was the reason the US was set up with the sole intention to limit the Governments power. They will always seek more power and control no matter how good their intentions. If we all start to realize that good government is always less government, the better the world will be.
I don't see the same people that respond to spam, as the same people using telephoney. I will predict that the profit margin to people that respond will be too low to make this worthwhile until VOIP becomes more mainstream like email. (I can dream can't I)
A post to/. with reference to nudity. Just to stress test a server. What, are you sick? I don't care what you are running - it just can't be done. If this link lasts for more than 20 minutes, this guy should be given a medal and hired by the US government on the spot.
I distinctly remember thinking of how dim-witted my teachers in high school were and thought that it was because I was just a kid and should think that way. Now that I'm all growed-up and I meet these people I realize that I may not have been far off the mark. I know a couple down the street that has no desire to have children yet the wife is an elementary school teacher. This strikes me as odd in a profound way.
Yet slashdot will continue to up the stock prices. It may be have already been said here but this is becoming an advertising showcase site instead of a news site.
That has got to be the most long, drawn out review for a product I have ever seen. How about not writing it like a book that involves your mothers TV viewing habits, and your walk to the store.
The RIAA obviously took it seriously when pople said that they would go underground after they started to sue the Kazaa crowd. This is a show of force when they can bring in the feds to help in their cause. Now that the feds are in on the big ones, how long until they start to move on the little guys?
I would rather get the reports right from the competitors but the reality is that this is not about the people that are actually competing and more about the talking heads of the networks. Unfortunately we will put up with this and just say tsk! tsk!
Come on - be realistic here! Ralph Nader! Is this the same Nader that belongs to the same clubs as the Bush's? You assume that he would be all that different. I think it would be almost impossible to have someone that actually thought differently to be able to run for office in the US. Negative thinking I know but until the electorate actually wakes up it is a lost cause.
Obviously the hype around this IPO is all that matters. When was the last time an IPO made the 6 O'clock news? Any serious investers would be scared as hell to touch this before it levels out a bit and all of the wannabe investors leave town after losing their cash.
Been hearing so much about the Bush vs. Kerry thing that it is getting rediculous. If Bush is gone and Kerry is in - what does that do? Titanic deck chairs come to mind. The problem is with the two party system and the Repubican-Democrats are not the ones to be elected.

FYI - I am not an american - this goes for all nations.
Got sucked into another AC troll again - DAMN !!! there is a reason I put them at -6
I don't like the term Libertarian. I prefer crazed right-wing zealot - thank-you very much.
Nobody seems to know - just different theories.

sorry - couldn't resist: Those who sacrifice liberty for security obtain neither.
I never realized that animals needed subsidized housing.

What exactly is the definition of a moon? Is it a size thing or is the fact that it has it's own gravitational field?
Touche.
