To wait until that happens would be folly on their part. Do you think they should wait until Linux starts to take a large part of the pie before responding? It is always better to recognize a small threat and respond before it becomes a major threat which is usually too late.

  2. This is a good thing.. on Latest Ballmergram Bashes Linux TCO · · Score: 1

When the opposition starts to use fud and only fud to defend itself it can only mean that it is scared. This is a sign that Linux is gaining momentum and MS will go to any lengths to stop it. The tides are turning. Stay the course and in the end the better OS will win. These are classic tactics used throughout the business world on a daily basis, do not think that this is a personal attack. But also remember that when the enemy is on the ropes, you should do everything in your power to deliver the final blow.

Let's not be too alarmist here. This is the automotive market here, bad press for them is the deathnell of a product. If anybody is going to test, retest and test again it will be them. I am not a fanboy but I know that this is a market segment that relies heavily on reliable products and will spend untold millions if not billions just on testing alone.

As an anti-enviromentalist (movement not concept), I don't beieve this is the right apporach. I believe that what comes from the earth should return there. The idea of taking stuff from here and transporting it to somewhere off planet is messing with the balance. I remember trying to put plastic containers in a field to use as markers for trees (long story) and after about 2 years had to be replaced as they had decomposed. This flies against all the enviromentalists saying they will stay here forever. What comes from mother nature will be returned there soon enough with or without our help. Nature will find a way and if you think you have control over that that you are sadly mistaken. - Caution - poster has been drinking heavily.
