Not to jump in to a flamewar or anything but the taste of a turkey that is grown on an organic (no chemicals) farm is noticably different than one from the grocery store. I've had chicken and a few other things that are a lot better tasting - more taste.
Just get the download from MS - it's a general install that gives everything and may be a little heavy for most users. I believe they just don't want their servers crushed by people wanting it right away at 266mb. They want administrators to get one copy and throw it onto multiple machines without the bandwidth problems that are sure to follow.
Unfortunately - that "Sweet spot" is the one that will slowly erode the civil liberties of the public. The right place for the line to be is when it infringes upon the right of the public. My personal freedoms when not infringing on anothers rights is all that matters. When you decide these matters using other factors, like technology that is currently popular, it is easy to get from the basic premise of personal rights.
I believ you are right but then the question becomes - What if the people with the source want to charge for it? I believe that this is what is happening. Don't have the answer though.
This doesn't sound so implausible. An easy way to get on the 6:00 without spending cash. A new way of marketing - guerilla(sp) marketing and terrorist marketing. The news people foot the bill for pushing it out and the marketing company reaps the rewards as people hear about it.
This would only apply to companies in countries with such laws. It would not be a big deal to just move offshore - which most spammers have done. It is also difficult to locate such spammers in the first place. They never seem to put their physical address in the spam - clever eh?
The only ones that can stop spam in its' tracks are the credit card companies. You have to make a purchase with a card. Have the credit card companies stop any payments to known spammers - problem solved.
This is the bottom line - stop the flow of cash - stop the problem. Is there any reason this cannot be done? Why is this never mentioned. The companies that facilitate spam can stop it today.
That would be the way to go... but unfortunately life doesn'r work that way. SMTP is so entrenched everywhere that writing a new spec is like making a new internet. In theory, it's easy, in reality everybody would bitch that their email doesn't work.
Apple has been doing this since the beginning, since they control all hardware (or has to be approved by them). Having MS or Intel do it on a box that will have an immeasurable amount of peripherals by different manufacturers is only looking for problems. It may be possible but I fear it will be at the expense of creativity and thinking differently will not be an option.
Free website, anonymous email, cheap looking product. Am I the only one who sees this as just apipe dream by some 14 year old kid who got bored one day and fed it to a news source. I see no info that is credible at all.
This is not always the case. I remember the story of paper manufacturing that the real cost of making recycled paper is actually worse for the enviroment than using virgin fibres. The public wants recycled paper, so that is what they get.
The new disposable DVD will cost more to manufacture and they will charge less for it at the retail point. Doesn't this just beg the question of their ethics and business practices?
Your US-centricity is showing. Canada just had a 60th anniversary for D-day in which the Canadian troops were able to drive further into the mainland than any other troops. The US is not the only one who fought and died in WW2. Note that this article is made by a Canadian whose Grandfather fought, Geez!
You are missing the way these are done. A memo is sent to someone to have the info taken out. It's a hard copy to start with, just blacked out before being released to archives. Since it is paper to start with, you would have to reinput the doc which brings up a host of other issues. Good idea - not reality though.

Sick and twisted but it looks like it should work.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
But their site is obviously not.

Not sure if this is a stupid question - but why 1556. It seems like a rather odd number. Is it budget or does this number of nodes work?
I do!1 I do! - spamstuff264@yahoo.com
Now, now - that's enough of the negative thoughts. I think you should go to the M$ retraining centre for re-education right now.

Boy, now you are just getting me depressed. Now if all major conflicts could just be determined on the ice we could really kick ass.

Sorry, that was more of an aside than a comment about your disposable goods theory. My point is that the word "recycle" is used at any cost.

It can - you program to clean at certain times (like when you are at work). It goes to the recharger when done.
