Could Microsoft have created a new C/C++ standard library that was.NET enabled? Effectively giving the advantages of.NET (managed code) to standard C/C++ programs? Or maybe a better question would be could the VS compiler create.NET byte code from C/C++ programs? If doable this would have been an interesting solution as all programs compiled for Windows using VS and/or Microsoft's standard libraries would automatically become.NET applications.
The original goal of iSCSI wasn't to avoid using Fiber, it was to avoid using Fiber Channel and requiring the creation of a second network, dedicated to storage, that is managed separately from the standard data network.
How secure is data when using EAP-TLS? I understand that the device is authenticated by a certificate and the users credentials are also validated. But what protects the data? WEP? WPA2? TLS?
This new controler design will be TONS of fun. But I'm worried about 3rd parties porting games from the other systems, seems like it could be a major challenge.
As long as developers really think outside the standard control setup this will be a great setup.
I've been working with a guy helping him setup his home theater system. Right now he's upto 9 TB of storage all running off of external firewire drives (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?P roductCode=102670-1 1TB each drive). What I really want to do is get him setup with some sort of easily upgradeable system that is redundent. Price is not the biggest issue, easy of use and ability to upgrade is the most important. Right now he's expanding at 1TB every 1.5 months.
I was looking at http://coraid.com/, anyone have any other suggestions.?
I have 4 phones in my house and 2 phone lines, how would I go about setting this up so that all out going calls would be on line 2 and incomming would be line 1? Would I need 2 X100p? Also, how would I connect the phones to the system? A picture would be nice;)
I've used my laptop under linux for about 6 hours on more than one occasion. I currently own Xnote Friday from PC Club, It's a nice laptop (I do work at PC Club btw). Everything works great under linux and I can throttle it down to 600 Mhz and the damn thing just runs all day. 600 Mhz is fine for everything I do, dvd's, programming, web surfing and bzFlag.
Computer Science has nothing to do with using the computer. It's about how to design a system. The computer is only a tool in CSCI. An entire class could be done using nothing but paper and pen. Here at Fresno State the CSCI lab has Red Hat Linux, Win98 and 2000. But the OS is only used to get a network connection and login to a Sun OS system using telnet.
I haven't been taught anything about a Unix system besides how to move around directories and open files in Pico. Actually no one ever told me how to do any of this, maybe I missed that class as I am a transfer from City College. I've never taken a class on how to use a computer. I've taken classes on how to use a software product or a language but never a computer. What exatcly would a "how to use a computer class" involve?
I fought with SBC for 3 months last year in an effort to get my phone line fixed. I had a constant buzz on BOTH of my lines that I could hear from the point-of-presence. The buzz made using the phone annoying because I could barely hear people on the other end sometimes and dial-up internet was 100% useless, 30 mins connected would be a good run. I called almost daily in an attempt to resolve this, nothing was ever fixed. They hard wired my PoP so I could no longer jack a phone in and listen (this removes your house wiring from the equation). I have requested on 2 occasions to have this repiared but nothing has happened yet.
Let's not even get into the DSL issue here in Fresno, CA. Cable is kicking DSL's ass here mostly because SBC is too SLOW to expand. A HUGE housing development 1 mile from my house that has been there for 10+ years and has 1000's of people living there (I have no idea how many are in the area, but there are 3 brand new schools) and has ZERO DSL service. And me living just 1 mile away I have poor phone service and zero dial up internet. Luckly I found a wireless bussiness provider who has a T-1 service that I had installed and then I linked the office and the house again with wireless.
SBC is a joke, if I ever see 15-25mbps in the Fresno area using SBC I'll be shocked.
Does this really need a standard? Seems like something that a manufacture could just do.

A VLAN is a layer 2 technology and can span across multiple switches. In Cisco IOS you can create a layer 3 interface to a VLAN.

What would be a better solution that is as easy to implement?
Like how rape is the same as saying "hello" in Japan.
I always just open cmd.exe then use runas to open another cmd.exe process as administrator.
USB A fits into an ethernet jack quite nicely....
I already get drunk and play video games might as well help out the world while doing it.
GAH!!!! Looks like when linked from slashdot the page becomes goatse. Sorry :(
The second page is safe
Use it to crack some password withCisilia.

Left handers? I thought we killed them all off.

pics.w00ttech.com/wc I used an older scsi hard drive for all the parts.
OR just use a CDRW. When you need to upgrade just erase and start over... OH TRICKY!!!
Damnit there goes my $15 labor fee! Hopefully the USB and firewire are all still seperate little pins or I may be out of a job. ;)
See it's not only open source projects that never make it to version 1.0!
