We currently use their equipment for our company after doing a trial test over 512k WAN links to support workgroups of 5 to 50 people. The key thing is you will need additional hardware at the home data center: their IShared if you have files to share back at corporate for the Ishapers to talk to, and then a IShaper controller (for central configuration of all shapers and QoS classes) and at least two shapers at the home office (for redundency). When you have that hardware, expect to see a large increase in file access times (2x to 10x as fast) and then your QoS for your traffic.
About time with the virtual windows! Took them long enough...all other major *nix based window managers have them. Makes their "photocopying" comment at WWDC seem double edged, eh?
Too bad about natural virtualization in OS X though. At least VM Ware is now coming to the party.
No. The Origami (generation 1) all are using onboard shared video of either the Intel Mobile or Via chipset. They can barely play games from 3+ years ago with Direct X 9.0c.
You will get your account turned off. I run a community based site and that's what happened to us...we had over 10k unique hits per month, and they were clicking on and off. Google when coming time to payout pulled the plug claiming "click fraud".
And most don't. That's why to always get what they want in writing and make them aware any changes to the agreed plan WILL throw back any dates and WILL cost them extra $$. When they change their mind (and they usually do), shove it back in their face and tell them to cough it up.
Never ever do a verbal contract or agreements. They will get you in the end. The parent post is right on real world development with users.
Interstate commerce law (since spam is a form of commerical email communication) would kick in if you consider it a form of harassment. Then you would be playing in the federal court circuit, not state.
I am also in Maryland, but if the server that is sending spam is in New Jersey, Maryland law can't touch it. You would need to get New Jersey law officals involved.
Sadly, I know all this crap due to someone harassing me on the Net and carrying it across into real life that was both across state lines.
Yes, this is the same store. The last time I checked for modded Xboxes there was back in March 2004 when I was looking for someone to pay to mod mine. I eventually did it myself since they clearly said in person and over the phone "we do not install mod chips in Xboxs"
I was just in there a few weeks ago and did not see any "super xbox" on display. I did see xboxs that had custom cases, but none moded on display. it *is* possible they were selling them if you asked, i will not deny that.
I agree. Depp is not *that* dark. the 1971 one *was* dark. This film would of been much better if Marylin Manson played as Wonka. That would really keep it dark and Burton-esque.
The trailor was just way too happy. There was no darkness. I've read the books also.
Same here. I have my own car, apartment, and make good $$, and I'm no where near close to their electronic toys.
Of course, this is all of our own fault for A-bombing and carpet bombing Japan. Japan had to rebuild almost everything from nothing...while the US just lived in our existing infrasturctures and *slowly* upgraded. Just like Europe, but only with more $$ support. Read a history book!:-)
I know specfically that the Pandora' Cube in Baltimore (technically in White Marsh, MD) does sell modified PS2s and XBOXs to play imports...but not to pirate other games. They will also not install mod chips not bought by them or can be used for piracy.
I personally think these people were basically doing it on their own.
One thing the article leaves out is which games. All we know it could be some freeware games.
Tis a sad day indeed that you cannot hack your own hardware anymore.
I'm in the same Xbox modding boat with 2 Xboxs. The DVD drives in these things *DO* matter. There is a mod to put your own DVD-ROM drive in, but if you have a samsung, you should have no problems.
In addition, Xbox's only have a shitty warranty of only 90 days. You crack it open, warranty is gone.
Why be an idiot and sue when you can just fix it yourself?
I actually use the Targus CityGear Chicago Notebook Backpack for my AMD 64 3000+ 15.2" laptop and all its gear for gaming. I bough it before going to QuakeCon 2004 and was a VERY confortable backpack to wear while standing in line and fully loaded (laptop, power, USB 5.1 device, headphones, trackball mouse, reading materials, digital camera, GPS, wardriving geer, drinks, food, etc.) I had no problems in sticking it under my seat for flight on American Airlines, Airtran, and Southwest.
My major problem was finding a laptop case that would hold a 15.2" laptop...and backpacks seemed the only way.
That is all good for Linux, but what about Windows 64 bit edition? Then you have access to more virtual memory and the like. I know on some games like Battlefield Vietnam I get a large performance boost.
This is very true. I've been an oldskooler playing Doom and Wolfenstein since they were released on the market. You always worked your equipment at that time to get as much as you could out of it, which usually ment AVOIDING windows. Hell, those were the days that your CPU speed was set by good old jumpers on the motherboard!
The funny part today is we still strive for that, but instead of DOS, its Linux.
What happens if you are both types of people? Then you are a FPS Doom gawd to make the oldskoolers drool and the newskoolers back into their diapers.
I can agree things can get out of control if every individual professor/teacher alter their text book to their specification, but they are already doing that by TEACHING.
Hell, even the text books are skewed by the publisher and the author's personal viewpoint on the subject. Since you are hitting history, try comparing the American Revolutionary War from the US and British textbooks. Very different ways of telling the events.
Only good if you are the professor or a friend and relative. Meanwhile, you are still ripping off the 300-700 students the "freebie" dished out by "Mr Big Book Producer"
Unfortuantely, that is how the cookie crumbles. Reason why i wait till 3 weeks into the course to see if i REALLY need that text book. 8 times out of 10 you don't.

Some guy here got WOW to run (barely): http://www.umpcbuzz.com/blogs/jayhawk_phrenzie/arc hive/2006/05/30/9488.aspx
The 800x480 resolution is another limiting factor. Most games today do not support that resolution.
For the curious, you can read some of the attempts here: http://origamiproject.com/forums/thread/4000.aspx

At least mirrordot was able to save a cache:

Looks like their news page died at 17,000 hits after 12:17 today. Very sad.
*nods in Agreement about serious articles getting "REJECTED"*
*points to top banner* Am I missing something here? I thought Slashdot was suppose to be about news...not making a bookmark of a page of bookmarks?
Since when was this "Slashdot: Post no real news, slashdot effect, and bitch!"?

Agreed. On their website, it was burried in the small fine print. It definitely was not easy to find.
I'm a consumer whore! And how!I am also in Maryland, but if the server that is sending spam is in New Jersey, Maryland law can't touch it. You would need to get New Jersey law officals involved.

OR with the WinXP install is running under Virtual PC for Mac running Mac OSX under PearPC with Xebian Linux on my Xbox cluster.

I left out of the "just like europe" comment in referencing Japan, not the US, you incensitive clod!

same here...i am also interested in buying one since they are low power, fanless, and would make a good hardware/software hacking project :-)

Now just wait for some geek to daisy chain several of their Xboxes together so they can actually run OS X on their Xbox cluster :-)
...and the look on Steve Job's face that you just undercut all the high priced Apples: Priceless
Another thing brought on by Big Government and Evil Corporations. BLAH!
