Of course one of the Byzantine Emperors married a 10 year old girl too. Unfortunaly in political marraiges of the time, sometimes, though rarely very young girls would be married off.

In casual spoken English this is okay, but it's not correct in formal usage yet. It's gaining acceptance but it still hasn't managed to become correct English, and probably will take a few years yet to do so.

Doubting their ability to actually pull it off is one thing, but that statement sounded like they did get it. They didn't say they wanted to make thousands of "unique" charecters for Fallout 3. He was comparing and constrating Elder Scrolls and Fallout, and at least to me seems to be expressing the fact that he does understand that Fallout is at a much more personal scale and had a small number of charecters that actually try to be somewhat realistic, unlike their previous games.

I'm still a bit cautious about Bethsuda having Fallout 3, but there's no reason to scream about how horrible it's going to be before it comes out, especally when they are trying to go down the path the fans want rather than the one they used for their other games.

  6. Good to see this coming over on Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne And Tokyo Culture · · Score: 3, Informative

It's good to see this series finally getting another chance to come over. Persona 2 was an interesting and unique game, and the main series has always been famous for giving an unprecedented amount of choice to players, it's really too bad it hasn't been released in America.

(Although those wishing to play Shin Megami Tensei I and II with emulators can look over at agtp.romhack.net)

My only fear for the game is that it'll be censored into oblivion for it's American release.
I've heard some of the scenes in the game are quite bloody and gory, and well, the theme's of the series arn't something I can imagine flying well in America... I mean this is a series where you can literally kill God. If all turns out alright it should be a wonderful RPG release though.

But in the end, it doesn't really matter. If you want privacy, don't use the service. You're not required to use Gmail. This would be one thing if they were trying to hook you into it, but they're being very upfront and telling you immedatly what you're getting into. Don't complain about what you get for free, epsecally when the negatives are listed right up front.

Most of those are pretty good ideas, however the idea of easy kicking kinda presents a problem, if you allow just anyone to start a kick vote, often times you'll get stuff like kickbanning the other sides best player or something, and it's not fair for people to be getting kicked because they are good. When it comes to kicking, it's still something that's best left to the person who made the game for stuff hosted by a player or the admins of the server otherwise.

Reminds me of a time in one game I play called Dragonrealms, where they changed how some aspect of experiance in the game worked, so all the healers in the game refused to heal any wounds. Between that and the general chaos it caused, the experiance system was changed back quickly. Sometimes a little in game riot goes quite far.

  13. Re:role playing... on MUD Co-Creator Bartle On Voice Chat in MMOGs · · Score: 4, Insightful

Personally, I think the problem goes both ways, the hardcore roleplayers often want too much from the people who are playing and just want to have some fun, and those people often just go too far out in having really idiotic names, and running about with leetspeak and everything. Personally I think it's best when you have a compromise. Make them have decent names, and not blantently go about with OOC stuff in more public places, but don't penatlize them for not having a 6 page essay on their charecters motivations and such and let them have their fun killing the denizens and getting loot. In the end it'd probally make both side much happier.
