I'm not commenting on whether or not the above is correct according to the decision, but in response to it, you would then be grouping email with medical records, in a sense. Yes, a third party has access to them, obviously. But a warrant will be required to look at them. At least, I think. Interesting to ponder on whether or not we really regard our emails so highly, though?
This doesn't seem terribly new or revolutionary...
Here in SE Michigan we've had a "little amber light" in the box out back connected to the electric supply for the A/C for at least 10 years.
During the summer, during peak hours when all of SE Michigan runs their air at once, they shut off A/C units for a couple of hours randomly to avoid brown/black outs.
DVD is dead just like we're being forced into HDTV in... oh wait, it's smoke. How many people do you know that just got a DVD player? It's hardly dead.
Actually, VoIP quality is quite good (at least in my experience with SunRocket). Cell quality is a whole other matter, though.
And yea, this reminds me of the story about the "cheap" air conditioner on Slashdot the other day. It's an interesting idea, but in practice, it really isn't that feasable to most users.
Yea, the problem is no one gave a fuck enough to actually check anything out. Had they, I'm sure some bell would have triggered somewhere. Thusly, they're actually checking shit now.
And please, I really doubt the government gives a fuck about when you go to Canada to visit or travel or shit. Stop being so bloody paranoid. So they might know you left the country. And? They could know that by looking at your drivers license too. Not to mention "he went to Canada" wouldn't even be helpful should they want to track you.
Could the most of you get any fucking stupider? It's a bloody passport. Welcome to what most of the rest of the world does. It's not like they're going to fucking strip search you or something.
"Hi!" "Hi. Citizenship?" "US *show passport*" "Why are you coming here, for how long, and are you carrying anything?" "Visit friends, just a few hours, no." "Have a nice stay!"
Good fucking god, the only difference is you have to show them a 2 in by 4 in by 3 mm booklet. HEAVEN FORBID. God sakes people, you act like they just told you you could never leave the county without being strip searches and have your dick photographed or something.
Evaluate your fucking priorities. I'm not for the Patroit Act or hell, even Bush, but I'm not as stupid as to think having to show ID is that awful. Perhaps if you morons left your house you'd see that compared to almost any other border, the Canadian border and entering and exiting that country is 5000x times easier then traveling to most other places. I mean, hell, ofen times you already have to show a driver's licesne anyways. OH NO, ID! EVIL!
It clearly says AT THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST. It's no different then parental controls except your kids can't circumvent what you have in place (at least as easily).
I use XP because I... *shockhorrorgasp* like it! Is it the greatest? No. Is a flavor of linux? No. How about OS X? No. How about... You get my point? They're all good at something. Ideally, I'd like to use all of them, but at this point I can't afford to get a Mac, and Linux is a bit too much work when I want to just boot up and do something (though it is fun to play with) People can have prefs as to which OS they like, but that doesn't mean if it isn't Windows they need to go around Windows bashing.
(Oh, and if I had a choice on which platform/OS I could stick with, I'd choose Mac, but that's only becuase I'm a sucker for pretty things:P)
Ok, honestly, it's not like the covers of violent games have like giant dicks or something on them. Instead of making a solution to mask the problem, lets fix the problem. Let's crack down on people who should be ID'ing but aren't. Let's get parents to *gasp* teach kids between make believe and real so that if they should get a hold of the game they will understand it's fake.
First we had to have automatic sinks because we were too lazy to turn them on
I'd imagine it also cuts down on germs since your hands never have to touth the faucet.
then we had warning labels on toys with a circumference of four inches
I'd take labels over injered/dead children
Could this further the argument that we focus more on price then on quality? Much like the argument of people upset ehir tech support is in places like India...
Not like I think this would actually happen do to it's unrealistic needs, but, don't forget, for every new security measure there is eventually something to get around it.
It may sound neat, but think of what the kid will have to go through in his/her childhood. It'd be really tough on them to have a name spelled in "1337," and would probably end up causing undue emotional trauma.
I think it's a really great thing, but how practical is it? To me, it just seems a bit to cluttered. I think sometimes we focus more on how good something looks as compared to it's actual use.:/
This strikes me as odd. They are one of the founders of the TCPA, yet they want collaboration and the like from others? I dunno, something it that doesn't seem right:/

Adium... "Group chat support Only join existing" I must be schizo then when I make those chat rooms....

Subject/Verb/Time or Time/Verb/Subject, generally speaking.

At least the idea of riding around with one is. They followed one around on TSS a few years ago (before G4/Comcast ruined the station)

Do the f'ing editors even read the news stories?

Good god.
they don't make them because they're two damned stubborn to admit they were wrong
No one cares..

Pollute more! It will prevent global warming! :P
something wrong going after something else wrong... it's like the government going after microsoft!

Awesome idea, but I don't think I would want to see everything I see again. Not to mention what would storage be like for the thing?
Local libraries might have the internet :)

Unless they didn't tax it by a percent of the amount it costs, but rather a flat rate.
