    On Windows the DVD's can be played used DirectShow. In the Directshow all the pieces needed for DVD playback are set in a so called FilterGraph.
    You can Render a graph, intercept a pin (with a YUV or RGB) and drop it uncompressed to harddisk with a Dump Filter. You can even recompress them on the fly and Dump them in a DivX
    The audio you can intercept as well in the same graph and you will have it syncronized with the video.

    Anyway, whichever protection will be choose, the solution of puting a Video Camera ;-) in front of your PC Screen in a dark room is unbeatable. With additional post-processing you will get even better quality.

    Did somebody try to press by mistake the Scroll Lock key in Lotus Notes Client under Windows?
    It becomes unusable until you depress that key.
    Some people are even reseting the computer for this reason, not knowing what happens (especially on Wireless KB's with no Led indicators).
    Of course, after Reset everything is back to "normal".
    I cannot say that Dominos is bad, but the client software really sucks.

    I live in a small village in Germany. Some weeks before I did a test.
    I've passed all main roads with my PDA and a WiFi scanner. From around 200 hotspots (mainly home users), ~150 were were Open (no WEP or other encryption) and free to use.

    Here in Germany, T-Online is providing a Box for Video on Demand which you can find it new, on eBay for ~70-80 $. It has a Celeron M 700Mhz processor, 128 MBytes RAM, WiFi access point etherenet and two Scart connectors. You only need to add an 2.5'' harddisk (~100$) and install Linux/Gentoo. The model S100 has no DVB tuner but a free PCI slot. You can also add an external DVB tuner. Model S101 has even DVB tuner incorporated and is only 20-30 $ expensive.

    So, I built my lite Media Center bellow 200$.

    And of course the best benefits.

    Model S100 is is very small (like a DVD player) and it is totally FANLESS
