    The point of the sports example is that this type of smart resizing would change e.g. the positioning of players on a field, making the situation completely different.


    This brings to mind, what about resizing of video?

    It doesn't make any difference whatsoever to the logic of the compiler, which is what matters. The compiler might be a tiny bit faster at compiling, though.

    But really, breaks are worse than a goto used in this context anyway. A break is just a goto without an easy to find label, so the goto makes it easier to read. I don't think so. A break is clearly defined, there's no ambiguity over where control will go, while goto requires a separate dangling label that can become misplaced, deleted, etc.

    It's the same as initialising some counter before a while-loop: moving the loop without the initialiser breaks the code, so that's why you use a for-loop for those instead, which keeps things tidy.

    They shouldn't tell anyone, just transparently redirect to the secure URL. Sane defaults, and all that jazz. Or at least semi-transparently, with a "redirecting..." page that has a link to both encrypted and unencrypted login URLs, in case some network blocks https.

    I agree, and I think converting to full-on, community-only editing would pull down the quality of the site. It's good to have some people who can keep things straight.

    Well, it was extremely slow and clunky on Opera for a long time, but now it's a breeze to use, so something changed for sure. Just the filter slider, and some icons in the prefs are a bit messed up.

    I'm thinking of cameras: JPEG is 24-bit, or 8-bit x 3 channels. Camera sensors can pick up more than that, however. Better compression also means better use of memory cards.

    Most importantly, lossless compression might mean that you don't need to shoot in RAW all the time, and be at the camera manufacturer's mercy.

    You are right, it is likely, I would not be forgiving, and I'd be demanding a harsh penalty. Being in a calm state that I am today, I can say, I'd be wrong, however... The sentence is almost as excessive as your use of commas...

    I don't think the rate at which addresses are running out matters. The end result is exactly the same anyway, so might as well try switching earlier, rather than after all hell breaks loose.
