    I remember reading about this some time ago.

    IIRC the denser matter is pulled towards the centre of the proto system.

    A close binary/hot jupiter causes large tidal effects that prevent other bodies forming.

    Anything that forms further out is made up of the lighter material.

    I'd be interested in the views of any planetary formation specialists.

    LOL that's an excellent point!

    SCOX is probably only rising as the senior traders are on holiday and the juniors think they see a chance to make a quick buck and a name for themselves buy trading SCOX.

    Wait till the summers over - things'll get back to normal then.

    In the last few years Odeon has lost market share to multiplex cinemas.

    10 years ago they were one of the market leaders.

    IMHO Odeon are a fading star. This is just an attempt to raise their public profile.

    With the rumours of Cisco interested in buying Nortel and the Canadian government may well be motivated to step in if theres a chance that Cisco would pull out of the Canadian market AFTER acquiring Nortel.

    Did you install firefox 0.8 in the default directory?

    If not then the installer doesn't know where to look for the bookmarks.

    The Mozilla developers really should have fixed this by now :-(

    OK almost an MCSE (only 1 design left too take - so sue me :-D).

    Been supporting windows networks since nt4 was released. Taking the MCSE simply cos I have to support it day in day out.

    Of recent improvements only the run as option and the gpo software control have an real use.

    I love returning home to my gentoo laptop and my slackware server. I keep a win2k pc for gaming and thats it.

    Linux is better suited to the corporate desktop and I'd be so much happier supporting a Linux only network environment.

    Its ridiculous having to pay MS for CALs when all you want is storage and samba will more than suffice. It's better than NFS but MS are giving away Services for Unix with an NFS client. Why use a Windoze server for anything other than glorified LDAP/DNS boxes. And you can do that in a *nix environment.

    Still Windoze admins are cheaper and more plentifull than *nix admins so who can blame ignorant employers for going doze??

    Just to add that although anti-bacterials are loosing effectiveness, bacterio-phages (microbes that specifically attack the type of bacteria) are highly effective.

    The only drawback is that you need to specifically target the phage to the type of bacteria.

    True very little is fixed by algae. However there is massively more surface area that can be covered in this way.

    That being said I'd dearly love to see our hills and vales covered in forest.

    I also agree 100% that all rainforest clearance should be stopped.

    A device to remove CO2 from the atmosphere that has a very low construction cost.

    That'd be vegetation then?

    You could conceivable seed vast areas of ocean with algae to fix CO2.

    It'd probably choke of vast amounts of marine life tho.

    It'd be a interesting to see how many /.er's would be willing to pay for tcp/ip.

    Patenting a secured version which, if it took off, could conceivably own the entire secure IPv4 infrastructure, would mean that Cisco could force every non secure IPv4 client to pay a royalty to access a secure ipv4 network.

    Soon every developer/hardware manufacturer would have to pay Cisco to use their version of TCP/IP to communicate with their systems.

    Granting patents to companys for this sort of technology is akin to drug dealers giving away enough free samples untill the user is hooked then charging massively for something they can't do without.

    Small rant :-D

    The comparison chart linked to in the article points to planmaker -> windows -> comparison.

    The linux version is still listed as beta and expires June 1 and there is no visual comparison of the Linux version with excel.

    The windows version is listed as final beta.

    Sooo basically it's not finished/ready for full release yet.

    /me decides to wait.

    Try an alternative theory.

    Young galaxys may be formed around the black hole nucleus of ancient dispersed super massive objects (quasars, collapsed galaxys, gamma ray bursters, who knows?!?)

    This may give them sufficient mass to appear to invalidate current galaxy formation theory.

    Also this theory could be the result of too much beer.

    Lack of detection could be down to the size of the final detector.

    If it's in a layered cooling system it must be significantly smaller than neutrino detectors which are vast vats of heavy water. Even then they detect relatively few neutrino interactions.

    If WIMPS are much less commonplace than neutrinos (which we get bathed in) then detecting them in a smaller container is going to be difficult.
