Despite the fact that HL2 is sitting on my harddrive waiting to be unlocked, I predict that it will become completely irrelevant to me as Halo 2 is soon to be out and I am currently playing Tribes Vengeance. There is no room for another FPS in my life right at this moment. If HL-2 wanted to be bought and played by me then they should of got it released a damn sight sooner!:)
I started off with Mosaic then went from Netscape version 1 to verstion 4.7. I remember that god awful animated blue 'N'. The shooting star was a godsend compared to that.
When Netscape 6 was released I dumped it out of dismay and used IE until Mozilla was released. I have not looked back since.:)
The proper governmental controls have been put in place by the movie classification. If the cinemas let underage people watch it, then they shoud be punished for doing so as the applicable laws permit.
All that is left is for the proper parental controls to be in place to know what your children are doing. That is the responsibility that the parent takes on when they have children.
I have taken what I consider to be better path through all this console war PS2/XBOX/GameCube/GBA-SP is better than each other or a PC is better than consoles crap.
I have become a fan of games and I don't give a crap what platform it comes out on. A good game is a good game and that is what matters, if it is good enough I will by it (and whatever platform is need to play it). If a game comes out on multiple platforms then I choose what I think will be the best version of the game to play and get that.
Not needing to get caught up in non-sensical arguments about which thing is better than the other is a burden I can do without. Then only one opinion matters, mine and what I find to be good and fun to play.
I played Halo XBOX, Halo PC (for online gaming), Doom3, UT2K4, am about to get Tribes Vengeance and Halo 2. HL-2 misses out because its got bad timing even though I have pre-installed it, I will get that later probably.
In Australia we have a show called Media Watch. I don't like the current presenter but the previous presenter, stuart littlemore, was great (he had a law degree so anyone that threatened him, and believe me there were many, had better watch out!). Basically it looks at journalism in Australian media and comments on it exposing mistakes, lies, fallacies, and sometimes dispensing the odd bit of legal advice to victims of journalism. All done with a good dose of humor so that it didn't become boring. Some REALLY big gaffs, lies and just bad ethics have been exposed by it, even leading to journalists being disciplined (I can't remember if fired) for outrageous lying.
The i love bees site is so obviously a work of fiction that I don't think that there is cause for concern about whether it needs to be trusted or not. As far as I'm concerned there isn't an issue with this site. I would only have a problem with this type of advertising if it was passed off as the real thing and basically used to mislead people. As I'm sure there are others out there that are meant to. Opinions can be bought just as readily as advertising space.
But then just follow lifes lessons. Educate yourselves about the subject matter at hand and then it becomes much easier to spot this type of manipulation, find trusted news sources and just become cynical like me:)

Well if fileplanet is "giving" them away then you will have to be a fileplanet subscriber to get it. Perhaps thats what the credit card number was for?
I can't bring myself to pay for something like fileplanet when the rest of the internet offers what they have for free. I understand that bandwidth isn't free but when my ISP downloads all the major demos to their local file servers so that they save bandwidth, it just doesn't make sense.
This is actually a common practice in the training of soldiers et all, they simulate the placing of explosives by sticking stickers onto the targets they are meant to destroy.
Of course they are not meant to get caught before placing them, and well sometimes they don't use stickers either:)
I just did a web survey form for the company I work for and part of the survey information it gather was the user agent string of the browser.
I was quite suprised to see that various "helper" applications (that some classify as spyware) actually modify the user agent string to indicate to websites that they are installed.
If a sizable population of people start to affect the cashflow, that its possible that it will be represented by the MPAA and RIAA as the effects of piracy rather than disgruntled consumers. I mean they are shouting about piracy right now, and thats when their members are making more money than ever before.
Of course that kind of spin could only be sustained for so long until the cashflow problem became so acute that there would have to be an admission about what the cause of the problem was so that it can be fixed.
We may control the cashflow but they still have the books. Perhaps a independant third party review of their claims about piracy and the effects on sales volumes and profits should be conducted, just to make sure that the truth is not being misrepresented.
Why I even choose to reply to a trolling coward I don't know.
I simply don't buy anything unless its in its original packaging. There is hardly anything lazy about that, and it does create some inconvenience every now and then. If in its original packaing it's damaged I take it back.
I choose to have standards and if shops can't live up to them then they don't get my business. I hope that I can at least have some small influence on them, but I expect the masses negate that.
Another reason I pre-order, not only to guarantee that I get a copy (there have been instances that something I wanted HAD been sold out), but to also get a copy that hasn't been opened everything taken out and the manual bent and whatnot.
It just really hacks me off when something that I am expected to pay full retail price for has been opened and damaged in some way (especially if said box has been sitting on the shelf). Of course if I actually tell a shop assistant this they look at me as if I am some deranged lunatic...:)
If I am buying second hand then I hardly expect a pristine copy but for new, that is something I do expect.
I will need a valid email address (Not Hotmail) to send it to. Is there a way through slashdot to message privately? That goes for you others to, except Eric:)
I seem to have perpetual invites at the moment. I don't give a damn about anyone giving me anything. I have six invites now to the people that can reply to this the quickest and actually want an invite.

Looks like MS may go to some lengths to stop the piracy of this game, and in this instance I say more power to them!

Ok one done here
Wasn't there a previous Slashdot article about hotmail blocking Gmail invites? I'm to lazy to find the link :)

I'm sure I will get more later on.
No this is not a joke, because of the parent post.
