Totally agree. Its just MS paying lip-service to open-source so that they have some more FUD rather than a definate NO when people ask about source availablility.

There's no way MS source-code is available to the lowly small-company developer who (real-world example) is trying to figure out why his DLL can't add things to the STL container he passed in without crashing.

You're just trolling. The hardware cost is the same no matter if you run windows, linux or whatever on the same box. (well actually you probably need more expensive hardware to get the same performance under Windows but thats another issue). The point here is that Windows costs a licence for each server, but Linux is free to download/use.

That means I always use intel CPU and intel mobo chipset, and Nvidia graphics, and don't overclock. Yes I therefore sacrifice a few frames per second but if you have faster/less standard hardware that the game doesn't run on, then your framerate is 0.

You may find it helpful to also avoid installing any redundant software ('helper' utilities, pr0n toolbars etc). especially if they run in the background.

In the article it mentions that Spiderman 2 was only just now realesed in the UK. its been out in the USA for weeks. No one can be surprised that piracy would be rampant prior to UK official release with:
    a) Mass availability in the US
    b) Mass demand in UK

If the film industry stopped trying to create artificial markets with differential releases and pricing based solely on geography they would experience a lot less piracy.

Can anyone even tell me why some countries should have to wait sometimes months longer for movie or DVD releases? Whats the point?
