How are they fitting 88 dual cpu computers in a rack? Last I checked, racks were between 42U and 46U. That is 42-46 1U computers. I have seen 1/2 U computers, but never dual cpu 1/2U computers. I can see 88 processors per rack, but not 172 processors per rack. Plus, when you have such a high density of computers, you need lots of power and cooling. Most racks have UPSes and cooling fans that take up rack space.

  13. Protocols on Large LCD HDTV as a Computer Monitor? · · Score: 1

You guys got it wrong. Although there are 1920x1080 pixels, the display chip is made to only display it in an interlaced format, which reduces quality. For a similar idea, look at a regular CRT TV, although there are 640x480 pixels, when you run a computer signal at that resolution, it is very blurry. Also, the image chip in the LCD TVs is designed to display only the HDTV signal. This means that it converts the signal from your computer several times (digital to analoug in the computer, analoug to digital in the LCD). The image chip in the TV is not meant to do VGA quality conversions, but those of regular TV resolution, for playing video games and watching SD tv on the set. If you want an LCD with a beefy enough image chip to diplay at full resolution progressive scan, than buy the $2000 Apple display that others are talking about.

  14. Better way on The Bugatti Veyron · · Score: 5, Funny

I can see a better way to get that much power. Make a redundant array of independant cars, or RAIC. Take 10 Kias, and weld them together. You get 1200 hp, plus better mileage. Also, who needs run flat tires, if it breaks down, pry one of the Kias out and drive to get help.

Is that just at full throttle? This car reminds me of some of the huge Dusenburgs in the 1920's. These cars were such gas hogs that you had to turn the car off while pumping in gas, becuase they used it faster than the low power pumps of the day could get it in the tank. Also, I remember Bugatti calling this car a show car, but I don't remember them ever saying they were going to make it. It seems to me that it is not practical enough to drive. At 1.33 GPM, you would need to drive a gas truck behind it to get more than 5 miles! How big a gas tank can this car have? 15-20 Gallons? Think about it...
