I'd like it if a product's cost was tied to the cost of production plus a reasonable profit margin...
These days are long gone; now they take what they can get, and, since that is not enough, are inventing new ways to condense resources into the hands of a select few.
Sure, any photo taken in public is 'public knowledge.'
Depends on jurisdiction. In Germany, for instance, you own the rights to photos that identify yourself (unless you are a person of 'public interest', i.e. politician, artist etc.).
Safe way to the end of humanity as we know it. Was not worth too much anyway, so we are excited to look forward to a new category of first class world leadership.

"The economy of the European Union generates a GDP of over €12,279.033 billion (US$16,228.23 billion in 2010) according to the IMF, making it the largest economy in the world. The EU economy consists of a single market and the EU is represented as a unified entity in the WTO." (wikipedia)
but for the rest of us that do understand, this just adds complexity when it might not be needed
This would be 'adds complexity when it is not needed', but a prerequisite for understanding this is having a grip of everyday language. This might probably be too complex an endeavour if one is trained to live with 'simple' interfaces.

You get $200 functionality for a $200 processor.
No headroom for different layers of profits anymore? Good news indeed.

Nice example(s) of how marketing rules the world and owns you (while you (the customer) lets it happen).

I thought that it was "0" (zarro) if you answer "no page found" and "1" (uno) otherwise.
There might be shades of grey that introduce some 'fuzzyness', like in 'fuzzy logic'.

Bing returns results objectively.
Probably you meant 'less biased'; 'objectively' is just nonsensical.

I think the reason the community is shrinking is because Wikipedia, at least the English version, is complete.
Go tell it to the Germans, who, according to their front page, are still considering Wikipedia to be in the 'project' stage.

I'd have expected this to be news 5-10 years ago. ... dropped significantly in the last quarter
Consider this:
It is big companies, it takes time to wake up.
It never droppped 'significantly' in a quarter before, and it is hard to get the big picture.

people think it will let them pay spot prices for electricity, no no no, ...
Hard to believe that people can be so naive if confronted with a P_O_W_E_R_ _C_O_M_P_A_N_Y.

No, in the real world "using the best tool for the job" is just what professional people do.
And I always thought the professional domain would mention constraints and talk of 'optimal' instead of 'best'.

The problem is that the best class size is 1.
Wrong: e.g. if 'self conceptualization', 'social intelligence' (surely among others) are in focus.

Opera's market share is pretty small, but it's still larger than the bit of the bell curve with an average of 120.

And they can never, ever, shut them down.
Truly wondering what 'they' will do when they run out of money ...

'The problem' is not 'lack of intelligence' (thus no urgent need for improvement), it is lack of adequate distribution of resources.

We're certainly throwing away the idea of subtlety ...
Tenses! Bigger, faster, in this case 'louder' — things of the past already.
The development will end when 'they' listen to a continuous 1000Hz signal at maximum 'undistorted' (10%?) level.

Um... where do you think they came from before?
Probably things were (thought to develop) different(ly) before the FED was founded, WWII was fought and WTC came down.

All dollars are created equal.
Not quite yet, but soon, when the debt hits the fan and all those dollars will be created from thin air.

The best solution for the interest groups involved would perhaps be to declare all of the US a jail (with some islands for the privileged).
This would be a rather elegant way to get rid of the 'constitution' 'legally'.
