Ah now I see, you conveniently took the quote off the "anywhere from 11MB to 75MB" of microsoft.com and used the highest number. Thanks for your time, your arguments are weak.

Ummmm, and where do you get your numbers from? IE is not available as a standalone download as an executable. When you download the ie6setup.exe file which is the FULL ie6 with outlook express for 2k/xp it is 11.6 MB. So please inform everyone where your numbers come from instead of spreading fud.

IE6 is bloated? Ummm, please don't make blanket statements without any backup. If anything, people complain that it doesn't have all the extra crap that comes bundled with mozilla and opera such as popup stoppers, javascript debuggers, etc. But since you made the comment, it is your turn to reply.

_Great_ idea! First thing at work tomorrow I am going to disallow the microsoft crawler from our site. I am sure when I tell my boss about the news that I have now blocked the search engine giving us 70,000 page views per month. I can just see him giving me a raise for sticking it to the man! Thanks again!
Agreed. At my school a CS degree requires far fewer and easier courses than a CPE degree does, which is why I switched. I wanted the challenge and also the knowledge of hardware as well.
Yes, but remember normally 'mom & pop' do not have nationwide access. The problem with local providers is that when you travel you either don't use it or you have to pay for long distance phone calls.
I find it odd that the foo fighters cd has copy protection on it when dave grohl was quoted as saying "I don't care if you download our songs, we are already millionaires so as long as you enjoy the music go ahead."
So you are saying a DOS game 5 generations old in the series did not work... Every single game I have tried works fine in 2k, granted I have not tried any dos games.
Not true. From what I recall, windows 2000 was NEVER bundled with home computers. At the time it was being launched, Windows ME was still being shipped on home computers. According to the statistics of browsers at my work for December 2003 (minor fluctuation each month), windows 2000 takes 21.2% of browser share compared to 43.9% of windows xp. While it is less than half of the XP, the vast majority of those windows 2000 users did not get it with a new PC they bought.
Some software, that runs on Windows 98, does not run successfully on Windows XP (and especially on Windows 2000). Sure, such software is usually woefully written but, if users rely on it, so what?
Can you name one widely used application that does not work on 2k natively or using the compatibility layer provided on the cdrom?
Windows 98 SE came out in various language versions. In many cases, equivalent comfort levels for non English speakers are not readily available in Windows 2000 or XP. While the NT based systems allow input and output of the appropriate characters, this is not the same as having menus and error messages in ones native language. With 2000 and XP, multilingual user interface packs exist for many of the languages with specific language Windows 98 versions. These packs are only available to corporate customers.
Both 2k and XP are available in different languages available to home users, not just language packs. Research a little before you type.
Your last two points are both about money and people not being able to afford it. Windows 2000 has been out for almost 4 years now, this is plenty of time to prepare for an upgrade.
Yes, but you need to have software that shrinks DVD-9 (9 gig) movies down to the 4.5 gig barrier. DVDXCOPY does this as well as the guides on doom9.org
Soooo what is your point? You think all video media should be able to make itself better when a new standard comes out? You will still be able to watch the old dvds as clear as they were when you bought them, however, now when you buy any new movies you can grab ones with higher resolution.

A video usually recorded form a promotional video tape or DVD which is sent to censors and film critics etc. The quality is usually as good as a commercial video or DVD. Sometimes a copyright message appears on the screen.
What does the read speed have to do with the write speed? Once the disk is written, the readers can do whatever they want with it. If you burn a dvd at 8x it can still be read in a 1x player.
I got the panasonic 3DO for $800 from a cell phone store in the mall when it first came out. The thing was amazing compared to what was out at the time. The game crash and burn was way ahead of its time but did not get much attention because of the price of the console.
This is a very good idea. I bought a $130 physics text book from amazon.co.uk that cost $55 after shipping and euro conversion. Amazon.com had it for $130. The best way to compare this is to check out www.addall.com and they can search multiple websites for an isbn number and give you the results of prices. Also the book is *identical* to the US version. Same ISBN and everything.

Such as? I have been running 2k for 3 years now, never crashed or gave me any nuisances. Please back up your claims or do not say them.
Amazon is partners with borders, the B&M store. When you buy a book on amazon you can pick it up in the store instead of waiting for it to be shipped.
Well now that you mentioned it I am sure SOMEONE here has ties to a government agency and will let them know about this whole 'World Court' deal.

This is getting out of hand, the last 30 or so comments have all been bsd is dying trolls. Maybe censorship isn't such a bad thing?
