My box is running SARA. I have those buttons but I do not have a 'Series Manager' screen. Believe me, I've looked all over for it. The only series management options I get are 'record one episode' or 'record all episodes' when I record a new program.
I've had my SA8000 for over 6 months and I've experienced quite a few problems with crashes, garbled recordings, etc. I'm starting to think that the SARA software sucks compared to Passport.
no, it doesn't. Out of curiosity do you know which software your box is running? SARA or PASSPORT? Try this: hold down the center "+" button on the set top box and see if the green 'mail' light flashes after 5 seconds. If it does, press the 'info' button. Then use the "->" button to scroll over a few pages and you should see the software versions.
When the first show ends, in real time, you are jumped to the second show no matter where you are in watching the first
Actually you don't even have to be recording the next show. If you're watching a show you're recording and it gets to the end you skip to the live signal. Then you have to go to the recorded list, re-start the program you were watching, and use the excruciatingly slow fast-forward (what it needs is a 5 minute skip button).
That bug has been there since I got my box a year ago, it seems like someone at SA could fix it.

Yes, we've found it is better to pay the folks who love killing rather than forcing a bunch of reluctant civilians to do the job. ... This is a big problem with a democracy, when citizen volunteers make government run
Do you actually think about what you're typing or does it just sort of spew forth from your fingers like diarrhea?
This has actually been done, but using specially created crystals instead of a gas. Somehow when the two lasers hit the same point it causes the crystal to fluoresce. Unfortunately the process to create the crystals is extremely expensive and they were having a lot of trouble with the scan rates of the laser, iirc.
FTP does not use UDP for the data socket, it is also TCP. Why on earth would they have gone to all the trouble to implement reliable communications (kind of necessary for file transfers) over an unreliable protocol?
Are they going to produce one of their Unixes for Itanium or try to convice people to move to Windows? Some of us have to produce software that actually works (ie industrial and civil control software) and NT just ain't gonna cut it.
Well, I guess we can all move to Linux or Solaris.
We believe that Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema's actions are in fact hate speech. The movie is intentionally being named The Two Towers in order to capitalize on the tragedy of September 11.
Um, you don't think maybe it was named for the book written like 30 years ago?
I was just reading through this article and I realized what a bunch of losers the/. crowd really is. What I'm curious about is if this spec is really better than the old cd spec, and I figured someone would discuss it here. But no, everybody whines about watermarking taking away their right to steal copyrighted material.
recursion doesn't have to be slow or inefficient if the compiler handles it right. In fact if you use tail recursion and your compiler knows its stuff you don't even have to worry about stack overflow.
Seriously.
When does he turn 35?
Electrical Tape.
Problem solved.
There have been no comments in several hours. Did I miss the apocalypse again?

There's no "C" option after I hit "List". Sounds like I'm a rev behind.

I'm from Rochester and have had the DR for about a year also. I guess it's a geek thing.
Mine crashes pretty frequently too, about once a week. And the fact that it doesn't have the ability to not record reruns really pisses me off.

Clear Channel owns every english speaking music channel in the Los Angeles area, with the exception of a few college and NPR stations.
I think they already have a virtual monopoly on FM.

Carmack is only 31? Damn, I better get to work.
absence of puzzled looks from the natives is a good start.
usually people use 'shots' of beer in circumstances like this.
Actually, I bet there are case-modding gamers out there who would pay good money to have current FPS showed on leds on the card.
It could be pretty cool if you had one of those case windows...
A reader recently submitted a ?, @stake?, and the general business of security. The article itself is harsh, but raises some interesting points.
