I understand what you are saying, but it is worth 2.5m pounds because of it's age and history, not because of the raw cost of materials. It is likely worth A LOT less in terms of $/kg.
In addition to what "Jeng" said. You propose an extreme example, but skip hundred of other middle possibilities. Think, if you will, of all the little things that could go wrong with civilization on earth, with out INSTANT MASS EXTINCTION, that it might be use full to have other colonies to help out. Perhaps a disease which targets ALL algae on earth, that would be horrible but, if we had alternate eco systems to mingle with, we might be able to figure something out. Or global warming issue, or political problems- things (possibly) buffered by the existence of other colonies.
If you just look at survival, then sure. But what about quality of life? not everyone wants to live like sardines in a can just because it is possible.
It was more a joke that he was a college dropout. But if this were a debate class, and I were being force to defend this position-
If he simply wanted some skill like "java programming" or "the themes of moby dick" sure he'd pay someone from the local community college to teach him. But, if he wanted the to get an IVY league education, those professors don't just work there for the money. They have big egos too, and they might not be willing to just take a sabbatical for the money he might feel just. That is, just because I have X dollars in the bank, doesn't mean I'm willing to spend all of it on something. These people don't NEED his money, so they might not just be his servants.
Going to college is more than just learning a bunch from books. If that were the case, the professors would be tutors, and the tests would just be given by mail. That is, maybe bill gates could learn a little about working together. In reputable colleges, you get failed for buying out your competition.
Yes. People become enamored with people in power, or thing a quid pro quo might hold. There is far more motivation to commit this crime-for-request when a person in power requests it versus if I were to post it on twitter/fb.
hahaha, no. I can fill up 256GB as fast as the next guy, but nothing to do with games. Unless you need more than a dozen games installed simultaneosly. I'm a gamer, but I only play 2-3 games at a time, and then move on to the next one, so I only need to keep save files installed.
256 GB, on a laptop with no internal dvd player, gets filled up by video.
USA, in a pro-democracy stance, still officially recognize it as Burma because ruling military of Burma declared it Myanmar and refused to allow the democratically elected government to take power (1989).
While interesting, it isn't exactly the same; in linux, you can actually just change the kernel, without changing all the services and starting software.
In your scenario, the "broke in." Under everyday circumstances, I might not search my desktop for extra parts, but if I find a broken window/door. I might search my apt a little more rigorously.
I just started ME2 so I can't comment on that, Bioshock on the other hand- If you think Bioshock 1/2 were terrible games, then we simply have a different view on what a good game is. That is ok, there are many games out there.
Though, I'd be interested in what you thought was terrible about the games if you actually played them.
Play mass effect 1/2 and bioshock 1/2 on hard. They are fun and take a lot longer than 10 hours. They have the shooter element, with a story line. These are definitely my favorite games of the last two years.
For every war you find about people getting dragged into wars because they had armies (though you would be wrong because it was about a mistake in treaties and not the armies themselves), I'll find another two about people w/o armies getting destroyed because they had no way to defend themselves. One would be wrong to think iraq went after Kuwait because it had a good army, and wrong again to think the united states & others leave iran alone because it doesn't have a military.
...So it makes sense for Apple to continue to package Flash and Java, otherwise we'd wind up with a similar mess on OS X to what we have on Windows with every damn application running its own little daemon to check for updates...
YES! I would go on "Fear Factor" to prevent this from happening to OSX.::shudders::
Virtual box USB is specifically included in the free but closed source version. They also have an open source version you can compile yourself, but that doesn't include the USB sub-system.
same story, but for my younger brother. Unfortunately is allergic to a whole host of different stuff, but the only one he seems to be "deathy" allergic to is peanut oil [and its associated protein].
Immunosuppresents typically reduce immune reactions not enhance them; they don't just "mess with her immune system" randomly. She had an ENHANCED immune reaction to something that the previous lung had, that she didn't have before. Something like that if isn't taken into account now, should probably be looked into in the future of post transplant medical knowledge and patient instruction.
to fix it for her, put a baby in her belly and tell her to git off that darn computer and bake him some pie.
Intentional pun?

Bill Gates might have money, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't finish college.
Probably didn't make a new exam. Old exam banks are common for people with the right connections.
I want to know your techniques
Benadryl, man...every parent I know swears by that stuff.
are you an inmate?

because I already have the ipad.
No linux build?
As there will be a lot of text/html, compression will actually help, as opposed to when people make zip's of movies.

crime rates were lower (per capita)? ::citation required::
