    The people there DID decide. That is what the approval process is for. Are individuals not allowed to have a voice in what corporations do? Ridiculous.

    I don't think you know what a data center is. Go visit one. There are plenty in Northern Virginia. A typical data center employs about 100 people.

    Data centers mostly do run themselves. Do you guys think data centers are staffed with thousands of workers?

    What tech workers? A data center like this would likely only employ 100 people. And not all those would be tech workers.

    I don't think you know what a data center is. It doesn't create many jobs. The construction is just companies bringing in crews and when it is done they leave. The only effect on the locals is that they now have a big ugly data center and their utility rates probably go up. My guess the "green energy" source that Apple was going to use was hydro, which isn't "green" at all.

    No, US companies are not allowed to sell to ZTE. That impacts their entire company, as it would be hard to create products without American companies in the supply chain somewhere.

  17. My local police force has something similar already. You get SMS when there are "issues" in your neighborhood. A website also allows you to view recent crime in the area. You don't need to be paranoid to be vigilant.

    What does calorie counts have to do with being a healthy option? 1000 calories of vegetables are more healthy than 100 calories of red meat.

    I know the difference. There is no such thing as "strong" or "weak" AI. What you are calling weak AI are just parlour tricks and computer programs. Stop calling it "weak AI". It is just computer programs.

    Baloney. Wages are stagnant due to the top 1% taking the money from the other 99%. There is no one bargaining for the 99% in 2018, mostly due to the decline of the unions.

    No, AI is not a form of automation. Words have meanings. The "I" stands for "intelligence" which automation does not have.
