    What is a "Computer" Daddy?
    It is like an iPad, son. Except it was used in the 21st century for things like pirating movies and games and committing terrorist acts. That is why we were assigned iPads by our local corpo-government association.

    We aren't even close to any kind of A.I. Of course the AI nutters will shout "Chess and Go playing computers!" and "Siri!" but neither of those things are A.I. And "deep learning" isn't a thing, just a buzzword. It isn't learning it all. I doubt we will ever acheieve anything even close to A.I. With digital computers almost at a dead end in terms of increased processor capability we won't see very many breakthroughs in the near future.

    That is because most new Slashdot stories are idiotic. A skintight exoskeleton? How about creating an exoskeleton that works outside of a lab first? What is there to discuss? You can't create a skintight exoskeleton. It isn't possible with Physics.

    I always wondered why there are Vive shills on here. How is the Rift "losing, badly"? The Rift is outselling the Vive by a very wide margin.

    Even in the cities ISPs use public right of way for their access and equipment. If they had to buy/lease that land it would cost them many billions. Once companies start paying for the COMPLETE cost of doing business we won't ask them for anything.

    People do want "dumb pipes". They just don't realize it. It is in their best interest to do so. The vast majority doesn't even know how networks work.
