  1. Deep learning isn't deep on Machine Learning Confronts the Elephant in the Room (quantamagazine.org) · · Score: 2, Insightful

Deep Learning isn't deep. And "Neural Networks" work nothing like a real neural network (a.k.a brain) does. They are all terms that "AI researchers" use to inflate their importance and to obtain funding for their work. The entire AI field is a massive joke, but now we have dropped some major taxpayer money on it so it isn't going away anytime soon.

Exactly. A bunch of people complaining over nothing. The models coming out next year will have much improved connectivity. Until then just be happy with what you have.

  4. Antenna on iPhone XS and XS Max Users Are Reporting Poor Cell and Wi-Fi Reception (theverge.com) · · Score: -1, Redundant

This is due to the superior antenna in the new models. The users are holding it wrong and this causes the antenna to work sub-optimally.

  7. Yeah, who cares if it uploads all your contacts to anyone who asks for it? It has a cool new Dark Mode and changing images based on the time of day.

  8. Who cares about privacy bugs? We have a Dark Mode.

The dirty secret is that the autonomous vehicle has a driver in it to react to situations like that. But some company made a bundle selling electronics on the taxpayer dime.

First line: "“This is the type of situation I face every day,” said the tram driver, who has 25 years of experience under his belt, as he rang his bell."

Why do all these "autonomous" vehicles always have a driver or two? Amazing. I am sure it is right around the corner though. Tesla has a breakthrough AI chip which will fix it.

  14. That is really comical if you believe that about "western culture". Rather cute. Anyhow, apparently western culture lacks reading comprehension. I never said they "deserved it". Read it again.

  15. Exactly. Furthermore, only a fraction of people care, and apparently even those don't care enough to use an open source browser.

  21. I find the term "extra" terrestrial to be offensive. It seems to imply that those that come from outside of Terra are somehow special, or "extra". Anlso, the pejorative ("non") obviously has a similar issue. In order to promote inclusiveness and equality I would suggest the "MTL" (migrant terrestrial life).
