  2. Re:Great! on Videogames Used to Treat ADHD · · Score: -1, Flamebait

First off, there no real disease of adhd. This was made up by psychiatrists to sell these stupid little drugs. Most kid's diagnosed with adhd are simply kids who have too much sugar and caffeine in their diets, or watching too much TV and those damn commercial intermissions. Here is a test to see if there is really adhd. Put one of these kids in front of their favorite video game. (I have never seen a kid in front of their favorite video game zone out, they are completely engrossed in the game) If they can play it for more the 30 minutes at a time without a break, then they have no problem concentrating. It is simply a case of teacher to stupid to really teach kids (which is where most cases of adhd are first found) or parents feeding their kids junk. Although I must say that it is nice to see an alternative to doctors and parents drugging their kids. I personally can't believe that parents are willing to start drugging their kids at such an early age. No wonder illegal drug use among adolescence is on the rise.

  6. WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND on Tsunami Satellite Images · · Score: 1

(boortz.com) Well, what a difference a week makes. After the initial charge that the United States of America was being stingy with its response to the tsunami disaster, the glare of scrutiny has been focused elsewhere: Arab countries. First up, Kuwait. Kuwait has pledged $10 million, up from an earlier pledge of $2 million. Some are pointing out that's not much, when you consider how wealthy that country is. The price of oil has roughly doubled, and Kuwait now has a $10 billion budget surplus. They've got the cash. So how's come the figure is so low? More on that in a minute. Other wealthy Muslim countries have contributed as follows: Qatar - $10 million, Saudi Arabia - $10 million and The United Arab Emirates, $20 million. So what's the problem? Well, there really isn't one, since money apparently isn't the problem right now anyway. What's interesting to note here is that these wealthy Muslim countries are not jumping at the change to help their fellow worshipers of Islam. Indonesia, the most affected country, is the most populous Muslim nation. Yet, countries with enormous sums of money aren't really putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to helping their people. Some believe that the earthquake and tsunami were the work of Allah, punishing Thailand, for example, for prostitution. These Muslim nations sure can whine about the way Muslims are treated around the world, but when it comes time for them to step forward and show how much they really care, they're out to lunch somewhere. That's okay, though....as always, the United States, who has freed more Muslims from tyranny than any other power, will be there to pick up the slack.

One of the Democrats' and Kerry's favorite ploys is to harp on is that Saddam had no connection to Al-Qaeda and no weapons of mass destruction. Despite mounting evidence to the contrary, the left continues to advance the lie. Well, now comes even more evidence of Saddam's ties to terrorism and his weapons of mass destruction. Iraqi intelligence documents taken by U.S. forces show a number of efforts by Saddam's government to work with Al-Qaeda, along with other terrorists. The documents also show that Saddam had mustard gas and anthrax, both considered weapons of mass destruction. By the way, some of those weapons, artillery shells with sarin gas, have already been found. You did know that, didn't you? The papers also show that Iraq trained terrorists, along with orders by Saddam to attack Americans in Somalia. Remember that? The particular memo in question was written 9 months before the Army Rangers were ambushed in Mogadishu, And if that weren't enough, the documents include lists of Saddam's terrorist buddies that he worked with, including al-Zarqawi and al-Zawahiri. The former is still in Iraq, and is responsible for beheading a number of Americans. The latter's voice is believed to be heard on the latest tape broadcast on Al-Jazeera (where else) calling for attacks on Americans everywhere. No matter how much evidence comes to light that Saddam Hussein supported terrorism and that Iraq was a terrorist state, the Bush-hating media and Islamic terrorist apologists will never concede any justification for the war in Iraq. Why? Because it would help Bush and hurt Kerry...why else?

Speaking as someone who is fairly new to world of linux based operating systems, I would suggest the courses on www.linux.org. They are based on a debian system, but most of the basics for all linux systems are there. I learned more from that then any other information I have come accross so far. First take a look at yourself and see what you would like to stress as important and go over those sections in the time you have with them. Then you can give them some homework by having them go over the courses at home.

  11. Changing WMs and DEs on Gnome 2.6 Usability Review · · Score: 1

Not being a power user or computer guru I find this to be a bit silly. One of the main reasons I tried out Linux in the first place was the fact that there were so many different desktop "look and feels" included. I change Window managers a lot. Every couple of days. I stick mainly with KDE because it was my first desktop and I have it sort of figured out. It, to me it seems fairly easy to use. I like a lot of the others though. It all depends on what mood I am in at the time. Sometimes I feel like a "start button" sometimes I don't Sometimes I feel like desktop icons, sometimes, I don't. My favorite thing about Linux is the diversity. I have never been a fan of the way the Mac OS looks. I am sure it is a great OS but I am not that fond of the bubble gum cartooniness of the latest Mac OS. I am not that fond of the Linux WM's that try to emulate that look. I prefer a different type of look to my desktop. I am not sure how to describe it. Window managers like enlightenment, fluxbox, windowmaker and afterstep. They usually have a clean look to them.

I would just like to say that the rumor that there was a connection between Iraq and Alquada is true. There has been evidence found that there was a man that worked for Saddam whose name I forget who attended the meetings that planned not only the attacks on the World Trade center but also on the attack against the USS Cole in Yemen and some embassy in the sudan. Also I think it might be too dangerous for contractors in the Iraq right now. It is like help building the Death Star in Return of the Jedi. The worst of it is not over.
