Well if you find someone who could steal the source to their x86 tiger Im sure I could find someone who will hack it to work on x86 and release it anonymously to some sort of encrypted, easy to use, Bittorrent like network (hell I'd learn how to do it and how to create a program like that) Then lots of people would get a taste of OS X on the PC but would soon find it is difficult to use because of lack of support However they would be unable to blame Apple as they offer no support. Unable to quit their addiction to OSX they would then go out and buy an Apple meaning many would be forced to buy a mac, thus bringing balance to the Operating System market
Disclaimer: I know none of this would work. And that it would bring imbalance to the hardware market.
My god that is funny... You do realise the PSP isnt really directly competing against the DS (different markets) but against the iPod. Its supposed to be the device that will make Sony hip again...Time will tell obviously, but I doubt Apple will just hand over the market to Sony. Seems unlikely. I think Apple should partner up with Nintendo and release The Fanboy AdvancePod. Man I know I'd buy it, being an Apple and Nintendo fanboy.
IANAE but could it be that Photoshop is a natural monopoly ie the barriers of entry in photo editing software industry are too high, ie it is to difficult to create a high quality photo editing program from scratch? Couple this with Photoshop's strong brand image in the corporate world and you maybe you have a naturally formed monopoly.
Oh gee cause since Sega stopped making game machines the games have been SOOO cool. Oh wait thats not true. Sonic games have been a big dissapointment and who knows what would happen to Nintendo if they stopped making games machines, they might implode.
Don't listen to the other posters. VLC (VideoLanClient) is da way to go man. Well thats my personal opinion. Makes Divx on OSX easy... as far as I can tell it plays even more formats than mPlayer. But neither of them can play WMV-3 or whatever it's called. Stupid format can't be used on OSX.
Using your iPod as a booting operating system kills the battery. I don't know why or how, but I'm pretty sure it does. Did mine anyway. Mind you that was an old 5 gig one (that I'd luckily replaced for a 3rd generation one).
True. I hope that the Revolution is just as innovative. Look at all the things that evolved from the Dreamcast. Even though it died many of the concepts it tested have dramatically improved the console gaming world of today. Even if the Revolution fails to profit, doesn't mean it wont innovate.
Wow thats just so...stupid. Like saying 640k RAM is all you would ever want in a computer. Without knowing how much a new interface could improve your videogaming, how can you say that its worth just dismissing. What a...troll.
Do you think you could counter-sue the BPI/RIAA/WFCWFC (Whateverfuckingcompaniesinwhateverfuckingcountry) if they sued you for downloading her song because she told you to?
I don't understand why people on Slashdot are under the delusion that it is okay to have monopolies in a capitalist society. Except in a few rare cases (natural monopolies) a monopoly is a bad thing for society, for the economy and for the consumer. The software industry is not a natural monopoly therefore Microsoft is an example of a market failure. In this case it is in the consumer and the economy's best interest to break up the monopoly. Now the government wont do this because they are unable to talk as there mouths are stuffed with dollar bills that Microsoft keep feeding them. But as a consumer surely you must realise the monopolies kill innovation because there is no competition? How can you refute that basic economic principal?
Genuinely sorry, Ive never watched Babylon 5 before.
'Zathras warn, but no, no one listen to poor Zathras, no'
Just looking at the web page you gave me and isnt this line ripped straight out the lord of the rings book? Just replace Zathras with Smeagol. Or maybe Im confusing the book with the film and in which case its the other way around. It all gets very confusing once youve seen/read both enough times.
You realise that the main reason you are buying xbox 2 is for a reasonable console third person shooter and a service that all three next gen consoles will offer? Good plan!
I think he's saying it will be different. Probably more focused on gameplay than flashy graphics. I really hope Nintendo are moving in the right direction because the game industry blandness that is creeping in worries me. Also, in the competition they probably couldn't offer Xboxes because they were too expensive, not in terms of console price, but usually they have to send competition prizes out by mail and the price of sending something as big and heavy as an xbox is phenomenal. For a long time the xbox and Gamecube were neck and neck (with the gamecube a little out in front) but xbox has become more popular recently. It seems a more adult console. Which may be true but I own a Gamecube and my brother owns an xbox and I can promise you Ive had more fun playing Mario Kart: Double Dash than my brother has playing either of the two Halos. In fact, my brother doesnt play any of the other games he bought for his xbox. Except Splinter Cell but that game is great on any platform.
So did I until I got to the tedious triforce part. Then I used a guide and nipped through it (gamefaq obviously, never buy strategy guides, they only tell you what they want you to know). Don't normally ruin games like that but Id already read about how boring it was so I thought; fuck it! Made the game a bit shorter but more enjoyable I thought.
I have a family friend who works in the music industry today who spoke to the BPI after receiving a letter detailing what the BPI was doing and how they were suing people who held copyrighted material that his company was involved with. In a telephone conversation he had with a representative of the BPI he inquired as to where the money was going to. Originally the BPI replied 'the artist' but on further inquiry they admitted that the money was going to be used to... sue more people!!!!
Hmm... How many people do you think they will sue? 10? 20? 1000? You know I don't know anybody who bothers to use p2p to pirate music anymore. There are easier ways to get old or indie albums by borrowing off of friends and everything new or mainstream is crap. My friends and I share music perfectly easy without P2P, in fact one of the first things I do with new friends is share our music collections with each other. The genie of digital copying is out of the bottle and it's going to take a lot of restriction to get it back in again. Enough restriction to destroy the music industry itself. Record sales aren't going to improve until the BPI or the RIAA stop stuffing crap down our throats, stop suing us and stop treating us like criminals, even if from their perspective we are. Society has changed, forever.
This is really starting to annoy me. Apple is acting as a company protecting it's interests, it is not the same as a monopoly protecting it's monopoly. Microsoft and Apple as companies are totally different. Apple are not trying to sue this blogger into the ground, they just want to know his source. They are in the RIGHT!!!! Microsoft operate in order to tighten their stranglehold on the OS market. Therefore many of the things they do are WRONG. This is not to say that Apple are always right and Microsoft are always wrong, but in this particular case Apple are right. So stop whining about bias in Slashdot, thats the way it is, the majority win.
Sure I knew that, but Australians still export it. Very few English people took opium but we still exported it. And I think if you ever watched Neighbours you would think it even more insidious than Opium, not only because it is mind draining drivel but also because it creates a poor perception of Australian people, portraying them as mindless idiots AND bad actors!

American Psycho - Bret Easton Ellis. Lots of prostitute killing...

Not to mention that the forbidden fruit that Eve and Adam ate is often called an apple. Or at least often portrayed as one.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is out on the mac. Google it.

Sure you can get a quiet PC... For about $1000. Now which computer was overpriced again?

Furthermore who the fuck is Zathras? Zarathustra's younger brother?

Hate to say it but The O.C. is Shakespeare compared to Neighbours. Then again Phantom Menace is still worse than Crocodile Dundee.
Call that a lack of morals... Hold on... Ill get back to you after I've finished punching this cat in the head.
