AMD and Intel CPUs both require between 300 and 450 watts of power to operate
Well, I have a PIII 600, an AMD Athlon XP 1900+ and a 19" Sony monitor running on a single UPS. It claims that there's only a 350 watt draw on it when everything is on and functioning. So, I think your numbers are a bit high.
When's the last time you saw a PhD in CAD? That doesn't require you to continuously learn new technologies and paradigms like software design/development.
Sounds like the way the Foundationers were hidden in the Foundation series at one point. They made a religion out of it, and controlled all the advanced technology that way.
Pretty cool.
I like it. Let's start a religion! It'll be tax deductible too! Cha-ching!
I suspect there could be marketing problems with this though. Even though people are aware of the fact they are drinking cheap mass produced lagers, they still like to see it being poured. Having it appear in a glass as if by magic, makes it seem all the more instant, and disposable. It may makes some people question what on earth they are drinking that can be poured that quickly and easily.
You must not be American!:-)
There are some people, like me, who do like their beer and like to see it poured, but the vast majority of people here do not care about that process. We are an "instant gratification" society and want everything bigger, faster & stronger ( I think it comes from watching too much Six Million Dollar Man & Bionic Woman).
Heck, with words in here like "publican" and "drawn" (I don't want someone to DRAW me a beer!), most Americans' eyes just got out of focus and they started reading to themselves: "words, words, beer, words, words, weird words, words" a la Butthead.
In other words, I don't think it would be a problem here if we had Star Trek style replicators making us beers. (mmmm... replicated beer...)
This is weird. I just surprised myself when my first reaction to this was a very deep sadness, because I will be in the waning years of my life when this happens and will never live to see any of my children or grand-children go to another planet.
Heck! That's for sure! They'd have this light fluffy exterior. It would be hard to dislike someone with a light, fluffy exterior. Just look at Natalie Portman!
Of course, if they were then to be deep fried, they'd be a bit scratchier, although oh so good!
How do you think Natalie Portman would tasted deep fried?
I might be interested in helping out, but I'm not going to kill myself going back to a language that I left in the dust 8 or 9 years ago.
If it was at least an OO language, I might be able to wrap my head around it, but I'm not stepping back into C for any amount of money.
Oh wait... there is no money... yikes. That might have _something_ to do with the problem.
If they want to do a redesign and start from scratch, tell them to give me a call:-)
2) I have _no_ problem with people who are citizens of this country showing up and replacing me. I have issues with a fake "overwhelming demand" justifying cheap labor from other countries.
The fact that H1Bs _exist_ is certainly not protectionist! I don't think H1Bs should even exist at all!! There are plenty of developers having a hard time finding work nowadays without us bringing in third-world workers who think that driving a 1981 Civic is a wonderful privelege!
Well, actually, ++C would have been the more optimal way to write it, since doing a "C++" requires the creation of a temporary variable in order to return the current value of C and increment it. So, it really should he ++C.

Ahh... I didn't understand. I thought you said you were a CAD operator. Hehe... didn't mean to insult you there.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

I think I need some more coffee.
I'm sitting here at work trying to stifle my laughs so that nobody knows that I'm not doing a god damned thing. Thanks for the chuckle...

mmmmm... deep fried Natalie Portman... *drool*..

Well, most banks that I've heard of will let you download the transactions right into Quicken for you.
Sounds like Windows isn't the only place you run into "DLL Hell"...
Huh? I'd say probably about 95% of the people who own Quicken or M$ Money use it to keep track of checkbooks!

Good for them! It was a crappy movie anyway!

I love when someone marks a post as Redundant when it was like the 10th post in the whole discussion thread!
1) Get some balls and post as yourself.
2) I have _no_ problem with people who are citizens of this country showing up and replacing me. I have issues with a fake "overwhelming demand" justifying cheap labor from other countries.

I know that. That doesn't mean that all those people should come here and drag this country into their poverty!

At least appropriately attribute Bjarne with that quote!
