    If space is your concern, think about the square miles needed to permanently store the nuclear waste. Uranium also doesn't grow on trees, you know? The power plant that you can see four miles from your house is just a tiny part of the whole complex.

    Follow the link in that trick. Basically, Microsoft tried to make ACPI as incompatible as possible.

    Ruby (maybe Python) is one of the last 'frustrating' and 'discouraging' languages out there. To make it even more interesting, give him Qt to play with. With Ruby/Qt or PyQt you can open up a window in just a couple of lines. Even 3D stuff can be done with that combination and that keeps him entertained for quite a while. Bonus: object oriented programming from the beginning.

    Big distributions as kubuntu and opensuse offer kde4.0 as a default choice. Not because they don't understand 4.0 isn't ready, but because the demand is there.

    I've created a social bookmarking site for Open Source tipps, tricks and howtos. I'm thinking about adding a news section, since the former tech news site digg.com became a picture sharing site. :)
    HowFlow is about seven weeks old, but I'm getting great feedback from its users. It has some very unique features, like an intelligent pastebin that tries to find a solution for pasted error messages and so on.
    You can subscribe to several feeds: upcoming or published tricks and so called 'tag feeds'. The site is non-commercial, there is only one little open-source related ad on it.
