Build Your Own Cell tower

There is no way, even if this works for 30 miles, and they fix interference problems, and it is declared safe for use; there is no way the cell phone companies will alow people to own them. They will use thier lobbys to outlaw cordless phones with a long range. If my phone worked 30 miles from the home, I would not need my cell phone. Cell phone companies will do the same thing telcom companies do, when they lobby to make it illegal for small towns to provide free internet access. Life is all about money, and the big corporations will not allow for anyone to take away from their profits.
Is it a good idea that everyone sets up more towers to broadcast these waves that cause cancer? Are we slowly introducing a carcinogen into our homes? I have read in the papers that cell phones can cause brain cancer in people who over use them. Will more of these waves in the air cook people like a microwave? Do we want everyone setting up a cordless phone with a 30 mile range? What are the consequences of doing this? What kind of power will this produce. Will it be like living next to a power line?
I also remember my high school biology teacher claiming how 100-200 years ago Latin was considered the language of learned people
100-200 years ago, the language of the learned people was French, not latin. French was the language spoken by kings (like Czar Alexzander in Russia) and educated. I think latin died around the time the Bible was published in German by Luther, some 500 years ago. Nobody spoke it or used it except the church.
But I've since come to realize that now I'm really glad I studied a living language, because I can actually use it.
I agree with you. I wasted time studying latin because I thought it would be useful for the SAT's or knowing more about english. 100% BS is what that thinking is. I learned more about English learning French. Latin is a waste of time. I would go as far and say it is a waste for people in the sciences to study it. Learn a language you can use, that you can meet people with.
Why is it that people insist on categorizing all fundamentalists as being the same? I am a fundamentalist Bible-believing Christian, but that doesn't mean that I checked my intelligence at the door.
I believe it is possible to be religious and at the same time believe that God did not tell us *everything* and we are in the process of figuring it out. It is like that scene from "A Few Good Men" where the marine is under questioning and asked "turn to the page in your manual where it says where you eat", and he says "it's not in the manual, you just follow the line at chow time". I don't think the bible is intended to be an all inclusive fact book. I think the bible is more like a general guide on how to live life and what values to have.
I also believe it is possible we might not be ready to learn some of the "stuff" out there, we are a society in an infancy stage and too much knowledge is dangerous. We went from fighting wars with swords to guns to airplanes to nukes. And as the "good" guys developed the technology, eventually the "bad" guys also learned to use it too. Did we need a nuke to end WWII? And what if a terrorist uses one, is it still as valuable to us then, considering all the good and the bad? I would also consider- are we living happier than our predecessors who did not have all this technology and science? My grandmother believed if you left food out, flies would spontaneously generate out of thin air. What was the net happiness of this "modern" day science for her? Nothing really, it did not affect her happiness one bit. But the values she lived by had a huge impact on her happiness.
The more resistance there is to science, the more I suspect people are not ready for it. I am not really sure, because I am not that bright to know, but I do suspect it. I also believe, the more "efficent" science makes us, the more it amplifies our mistakes.
Trouble is, even the tiniest changes might have profound effects, so theoretically you supporting Apple might through some Rube Goldberg-esque chain of events, be catastrophic.
God forbid if the Mars Rover had Mac OS 10 running the show. I was going to say the name of whatever OS the Apple II had, but I don't remember. I just remember putting my 5 and 1/4 inch floppy of Bards Tale in the floppy drive and typing "load bardstale", then waiting and typing "run bardstale". Man, my Garth was up to level 127, and we had a cold horn. And my wizard, you did not want to fuck with his Mangars Mind Blades. It was so cool!!!
What makes you think that people would respond any differnetly than they do now?
Because back then, M$ was not a monopoly. There was choice. Today, M$ is a monopoly. Apple is not a mainstream choice.
In 1985, my school has a computer lab, and it was filled with Apples. What happened?? McDonalds spends a crapload of money getting kids hooked young. Apple had the school system coronating their product.
Dude, you read my mind!!!!! You must watch Family Guy. You are a-okay in my book! Just remind me to take away all civil liberties first, before I start eating. Cause once I start eating, I forget to do stuff like that. And then the town might decide to throw me out and I would be screwed.
First, you are the anonymousCOWARD. You won't even post with your account because you are scared of what people might think. You poor thing. Life must be hard. I am sure, one you marry who your daddy tells you to, and secure the family fortune, you will be happy.
Human nature is human nature. There is a saying, "in the dark, even a dog knows if you kicked it or accidentaly stepped on it".
The truth is out there. But who is looking???????????? Do YOU care enough? Me neither. I got money to make. When a nuke goes off, I'll just do what everyone else does.
If the terrorists succeed and set off a bomb in the USA, more power to them. If bush was born poor and his family was slaughtered, he would be doing the exact same thing as the guys who flew into the WTC. as the louisiana chef used to say... "I gaurentee it!"
i think the whole plutonium thing is propoganda, trying to make the terrorists look for it. what happened with the H bomb? has anyone looked at the sun (come on people, there are only two elements there)? why plutonium, because it is rare? all they are doing is shoving crap down the throat of a atom. how hard is that??
if peace is to be had, people must be respected as the same, without regard to wealth. the uber rich are the shadow government. and it ain't limited to the usa, they are foreclosing on the usa quicker than GM left michigan. don't fall for it. god gave you a brain, and they can only take it away with mindless tv and alcohol and unresolved suffering. think about it.
Most likely he was motivated by sheer boredom. There isn't a lot to do in Louisiana if you actually live there (as opposed to being a tourist). I speak from sad experience.:-P
He could have tried:
taking a shower
washing his pits
brushing his teeth
figuring out how the damn comb works
applying deodorant to his pits
applying deodorant to his nut sack
using toiletpaper til it no longer turns brown
not reusing the same toiletpaper over and over again
read the website "how to pick up women"
test it out on bessie, the family cow
new day, repeat again til results are more favorable
Granted, it may take away resources from people that are actually in need, but it still is a bit funny.
You know what else is funny. Sending weak people to jail who don't have a prayer of surviving the first week. Watching them get raped and beat up. That is funny. I also thought it is funny to watch neighborhood kids pick out the smaller and odder one, and make fun of him. That is funny too. And it is funny when the football team gives the chess team swirlies.
I could see the courts giving him some leniency if he was 12, but at 43 years of age
wrong is wrong. if a 12 year old did this, it is just as much damage. hey, just a few days ago a court sent to prison a 13 year old who killed his grandparents because zoloft made him flip out. if a 13 year old gets nailed while on a doctor prescribed drug, who is going to give a 12 year old a break who is in their right state of mind?
i think what would be interesting is laws that punish parents for what thier kids do. but that could ruin a whole family, i could see someone losing their townhouse and having a mom out on the streets with 3 other kids because one of her kids is a nerd.
This reminds me of the viruses free porn websites you to send out that cause computers to call 1-900 numbers, or out of country numbers. I always was suspicious of those pictures with.exe file extentions.;)

You don't have $10,000 to spend on a Steadicam? Make this ultra-low-cost video camera stabilizer and see how much better your video shots turn out.
I think I'll pass on this one. Maybe when they get to 12 issues for $12.95 I'll think about it.
this is the best kind of advertising a company could get, word of mouth. no comercials jamming their product down your throat, no psychologists that figure out ways to get your attention. just a company that makes good products, and offers the community what they want. eventually people start talking, and people find out about them.
who cares if he stole something or not. he invaded the privacy of other people. this reminds me of a guy back in college. about a month after moving in the dorms, i was stuck in the elevator with this guy. on the way up he was snickering and laughing, and finally let out a "you won't believe this... you have to come to my room". this guy was a loner, and a bit of a weirdo. but i figured fuck it, and went to see what he had. it was a big ass radio which could be tuned to listen in on wireless phones. he had it attached to a tape deck. his room also smelled like stale cigarettes and weed. it truns out his hobby was to smoke weed and listen in on peoples personal conversations. so i did what i knew was right, i took away his radio and told him if i ever caught him listening in on other people, i would call the police. i also took all his tapes, and told him to get into drug rehab.
he should go to jail. why reward bad behavior? it is about ethics, about right and wrong. the hacking was wrong, now he is going to jail.
better yet, pass a law that says anyone convicted of a computer crime can't work with computers. something like what they do with criminals who harm children. laws make it illegal for them to work or be around children.
even with driving privliges, after so many tickets, they will take a drivers license away.
oh, about your statement that incarceration is a waste of money, no it is not. it keeps these animals out of mainstream society, and after their sentance is done, they will still be in databases so we know who they are. that is the real value. employers can weed them out. better colleges can make admissions more difficult. neighborhoods can make living there difficult. it is all about punishment. no more three strikes and you're out. i say, fuck up once, and that is it.

it sucks!

Or telling people how computers would change, and what M$ would be like. If I went back in time, I would be 100% Apple II all the way. Fuck the 8088.

But post as AC. It suits you well.
I say kill 'em all, and let the paramedics sort them out!!

it is possible to make a nuclear bomb out of any element. for some odd reason, people think radioactive = nuclear bomb.
while it will not tell you anything about bombs, watch october sky to see something about thinking.
if i knew then what i know now i am sure i would not be a virgin.

Do you think if it was more challenging to do this, it would have a more "cool" factor making it okay?
