The religion you talk about is merely an excuse for the evil doers to do their evil. Not that they see it as evil, but merely protecting themselves - a common reaction to having your homes fucked with for decades (or even centuries) by foreign powers. The religious people do evil because they feel persecuted, and we do evil stuff because we feel we have a right to do so. We *all* need to adjust how we treat each other, and taking the first steps will be painful. Getting plentiful, cheap energy is a great start - it's a massive burden on a lot of societies for a shitload of different reasons, and once removed from the equation, the real world-building can start.
Wow. You'd want to live in a 1700s country for the rest of your life? Because that's what's going to happen if the government spends like a 1700s government. For fuck's sake - governments, just like everything else on the planet, need to change with the times. Human kind has learned a great deal since the US was first created, and yet you are willing to flush that down the toilet just so the founding fathers were infallible? Muppet.
I'd rather have 10,000 locked, binary drivers to which I have no access to source code over 1,000 fully-open drivers. Most people don't choose their OS for ideological reasons.
Let me make that a bit more accurate, no offence meant:
At its heart, fundamentalism is a death cult.
It's just that a lot of the world's meddling is happening where our most precious resource lies - oil, which is currently located mainly under predominately-Muslim populations. They feel the pressures of being screwed with - governments toppled or propped up, all for the benefit of someone else. That's got to piss you off, especially when you and your family is paying the price. Pinning this on Islam and not hideously selfish behaviour is folly.
World wars I & II were the same war with a brief pause in the middle. Saying there was no WWIII because of US troops in Europe is fantastically short-sighted. The "something" that happened was Europe finally destroying most of itself, realising how stupid it is, and doing everything to ensure a better life as possible. It's difficult for most Americans to understand what happened in Europe, as the war never made it to US cities in the same way as it did in Europe.
Maybe that stands in the US, but in most civilized countries that's not the case. Response has to be proportional. That means you can't shoot someone in the face with a shotgun if they slap you.
Christ I don't even know where to begin with that post. Comparing the threat of 1930s Germany with Hamas? Are you fucking kidding me? I live in Germany and I know you're full of shit.
Interesting position. I take it you welcome any attacks by Afghans who are defending themselves against ISAF forces in their homeland, then? Thinking like yours only serves to perpetuate this ridiculous cycle. The 9/11 attacks didn't appear out of thing air - they weren't a spur-of-the-moment flight of fancy by OBL - they were for a purpose, and one you apparently agree with. Damn you're stupid. You seem to love random destruction and welcome the killing of innocents.
I'm not condoning what they did, but the Taliban offered to turn Osama Bin Laden over to US troops if the White House could show evidence of his involvement in 9/11. The White House was surprisingly silent, and instead of faxing over some documents, we went to war, getting 5,679 of our allies (and over 11,000 innocent civilians) killed in the process. Nice work.
You should try to read the articles better before getting all uppity - it doesn't help your argument. The synopsis calls these 'features', but the article says they are tweaks at best. Also your comprehension of what the article is discussing seems to be way off - it discusses in great length what these tweaks are and how they work better.
True - people not cheaping out and using ad blockers on sites they actually want to browse would save them more money. Downloading MP3s isn't stealing - using an adblocker most definitely is. Man up and take the rough with the smooth, otherwise all those sites you want to visit but not pay for will disappear.
Wow you're unlucky. I installed Windows 7 on my notebook and it got everything except the sound card. It connected to Windows Update, downloaded the drivers, and was ready to go in under a minute. Please don't fall into the trap of "my experiences represent everyone else's", as that's bullshit of the highest degree. I'm sure many people have problems, but even more folks don't.
Apart from them stopping third-party manufacturers from making dock-compatible accessories, and charging an arm and a leg for replacement cables. Apart from that, sure. Great jerb.
Emo much? Christ. Windows is nothing of the sort. Sure, you don't have access to the source, but for fuck's sake - that's the least of most users' worries when trying to make a living. You're acting like Windows will rape your dog if you don't pay Bill Gates money every day. Grow the fuck up and stop being so melodramatic. It's not helping your cause one iota.

Quick repairs. That's it. That's why Arthur C. Clarke thought communication satellites would be manned - to switch out broken components.
Hawaii? That was a sovereign country annexed by the US. But I guess that's cool as all the dissenters were killed or put in prison. Nice.
it's still in beta :) click the 'send feedback' link and send some feedback!</whisper>
The terms and conditions of Windows 7 beta builds prohibit direct benchmarking, most likely because it's a beta.

Aaaah yes. That's why I love slashdot. Paranoid delusion. Excellent.

"Collective punishment" is a war crime. You are calling for it. You are a horrific cunt of a person.
My notebook deals with hibernation well under Vista and Windows 7 - faster than a cold boot. I guess it's down to luck. It's got 4GB of ram, too.

Short stroking will help speed up development, and without the write cycle issues of flash. It's also much cheaper.
You might have a point about the pizza, but the other three? Not so much.

I doubt that post will be modded as funny as it actually is :)

Windows users don't want to use the command line. That's why they're not using linux :)
