  1. Re:Energy Independence on National Ignition Facility Fires 192-Beam Pulse · · Score: 1

The religion you talk about is merely an excuse for the evil doers to do their evil. Not that they see it as evil, but merely protecting themselves - a common reaction to having your homes fucked with for decades (or even centuries) by foreign powers. The religious people do evil because they feel persecuted, and we do evil stuff because we feel we have a right to do so. We *all* need to adjust how we treat each other, and taking the first steps will be painful. Getting plentiful, cheap energy is a great start - it's a massive burden on a lot of societies for a shitload of different reasons, and once removed from the equation, the real world-building can start.

Human kind has learned a great deal since the US was first created, and yet you are willing to flush that down the toilet just so the founding fathers were infallible? Muppet.

Let me make that a bit more accurate, no offence meant:

At its heart, fundamentalism is a death cult.

It's just that a lot of the world's meddling is happening where our most precious resource lies - oil, which is currently located mainly under predominately-Muslim populations. They feel the pressures of being screwed with - governments toppled or propped up, all for the benefit of someone else. That's got to piss you off, especially when you and your family is paying the price. Pinning this on Islam and not hideously selfish behaviour is folly.

World wars I & II were the same war with a brief pause in the middle. Saying there was no WWIII because of US troops in Europe is fantastically short-sighted. The "something" that happened was Europe finally destroying most of itself, realising how stupid it is, and doing everything to ensure a better life as possible. It's difficult for most Americans to understand what happened in Europe, as the war never made it to US cities in the same way as it did in Europe.

Interesting position. I take it you welcome any attacks by Afghans who are defending themselves against ISAF forces in their homeland, then? Thinking like yours only serves to perpetuate this ridiculous cycle. The 9/11 attacks didn't appear out of thing air - they weren't a spur-of-the-moment flight of fancy by OBL - they were for a purpose, and one you apparently agree with. Damn you're stupid. I'm not condoning what they did, but the Taliban offered to turn Osama Bin Laden over to US troops if the White House could show evidence of his involvement in 9/11. The White House was surprisingly silent, and instead of faxing over some documents, we went to war, getting 5,679 of our allies (and over 11,000 innocent civilians) killed in the process. Nice work.
