Bit-Torrent is just a protocol, like HTTP or FTP. It's just another bad eye for the internet, which amounts to directly buttkiss.
I'm glad you're observant enough to realize that software piracy happens on the internet, asstard.
If I ever see one, I'll make sure to walk in it's exact path and go very slowly. If they hit me I'll sue. If they don't hit me, they'll be really annoyed.
I can't imagine that you would be able to take it anywhere without being a menace.
I tried eDarl, but couldn't get it to work. Kept asking for a license fee for stolen code, but I didn't know what it was talking about, so I deleted it.
Don't get me wrong I am all for free speech, but free speech generally comes with some catch, like imprisonment, pressure from the law, or spending time listening to someone whom you'd rather not....The act of creating free speech produces waste, notably CO2.
Speeding, the offense of hardened criminals.

I tend to think that just because someone creates a virus that happens to work well, and causes massive amounts of destruction isn't a horrible person at heart.
I think if you've ever done any amount of prgramming, you've been there before, little mental masturbations of doing bad things to people to clever programming.
This is like refusing to hire someone because they got a speeding ticket, or downloaded music off of the internet.
That's been the biggest problem that I've noticed. Everyone wants to jump in and start spouting, "You just need to grep the ps and kill -9 the process ID, Duh!"
If you want to simplify the problem, and make it easier for new users, it might be a good idea to cut the jargon.
For example, why would someone even care the q! quits vi when they don't even know what it is. You've got to admit, that even tough it's been named that forever, it doesn't really give any clues to what it does.
I hate to use Microsoft as an example, but "notepad" does give you a little better clue as to what the program is and does...
...two things that are inherently "Male-Centric". Get over it or write your own video game. The world is driven by sex & greed. People (males) buy games that are sexy.
Quick solution, put down the remote control and get a life. TV isn't really that important, if they want to prevent us from watching it, then good. It'll be doing us a favor as a society.
"Oh man! I could have left the theater an hour ago!! nO!!"
Dear god, what have we been doing without cellphones for the last 2050+ years. Not having instant access to such important information as a death in the family. Look they're dead, there's nothing you can do about it, so what's a couple more hours.
So you say you're a doctor, well that's great, whoop dee doo. They make up, let's see, maybe.000001% percent of the population. That's great. Sucks to be you, making the big bucks, slave to the people.
I feel sorry for those of you who somehow are too stupid to realize that you're not chained to your phone. Ya know, it is possible to just simply silence your phone and not answer it, it really is.
All the people that I work with are always getting annoying calls throughout the day. I just say screw the whole deal and don't answer my phone if I don't feel like it. It's been that way for ages and the world hasn't stopped turning yet.
Yes, I'm flaming the crud out of you, I don't really care. I think most people are idiots anyways, feel free to think the same of me.
The recording industries of the world have decided that it's much more profitable to simply make all music illegal and sue everyone than it is to try to market a product...
For those of you who don't fully understand the problem. You have to understand how google works a little, or at least one major point.
Google considers that if someone links to your site, you're probably better than someone who has nobody/less people that link to their site.
(If anyone has more detailed info on this, please feel free to post a reply)
One of the main reasons why spammers are stuffing their urls into your referrer logs is to boost their page rank in google. To combat that, google has a simple method for page designers to instruct its bots to not follow links from a certain page. Thus taking away the benefit of spamming your referrer log.
First of all, this opens a huge hole for url hijacking and obfuscation.
Say for instance, you get a spam that has a url to http://www.microsoft.com/freeoffers
You too were tricked, but you'll notice that instead of a normal i, it is instead replaced with an accented i or an i with a grave (slashdot strips these btw). Anyone that doesn't use accents (english, japanese, chinese, etc) probably won't catch the minor detail and will probably think that it's really pointing to www.microsoft.com.
This is very similar to, but less obvious than using:
http://www.microsoft.com@via.gra.biz/offers
Most non-tech internet users will also believe this to be Microsoft's web-site. Spammers will have a hay day with all of the new opportunities.
The second non-technical problem is that say I want to go to a Japanese web-site that doesn't have an english url. If I don't know kana/kanji (like most countries don't), then I don't know what letters to type in to get the correct japanese. I would have to get a dictionary and look up each character to figure out what to type.
I agree that it's lame to only have it in english, but at this point, any country that uses the internet already has the ability to type english, but now they will need to be able to type in Japanese, Chinese, Russian, Greek, etc, etc, etc....
Okay, so say that I'm with Voicestream and I want to move to AT&T. Who actually makes the transfer? Or more specifically, if Voicestream makes the transfer, what's to stop them from screwing it up or just not doing it at all. It's not like they're going to care very much, you *are* leaving their company after all.
Turning 5 lanes freeways into 1 lane.
My comment was in response to someone mentioning use of one at the boardwalk of CA. CA is too crowded for a small bike, more or less a huge one.
Some asshole out there would purchase this bike and ride it himself, just so he could take up the entire sidewalk and part of the street.
I think it's a competition, to see who can be the biggest asshole without breaking the rules (because you'll be sued).

I have a DMZ set up with a patched box connected with it's own IP and virus scanner. This is my sacrificial internet box, if you will.
The PC with real information on it, is behind a small router, with virus software and firewall to block it off from my servers and internet box.
I don't access the internet through anything but my net box, which I generally terminal into.
A ghost disc generally remedies any virus / *ware that I may encounter.
Nothing in there says that you can't use programs that anonymously share files, so long as you're not sharing files.
If the programs are truly anonymous, then how are they going to catch you anyways?
Continuing to beat the horse to death since 1984.
Torrent: If you can find the torrent, you can usually get the file.
ed2k: You can find the file, but good luck getting it. May as well hit some 1337 0-dAy wAReZ sites, or the T500 lists.

No, it's dead. Face it, you've got 1 billion people connected and a grand total of 10MB shared.
I don't care to use it, whether I can connect or not.

I totally agree, just stating the facts here.

Oh yea, and soon that will be illegal too, because my patent for the number 0, and all of its uses will soon go through.
Good compression? Even Winzip will compress it down when it's a million lines of:
int x;
int i;
char u;
for(x=0; x etc...

How can I prevent Googlebot from following links from a particular page or archiving a copy of a page?
I would suggest adding these if you insist on keeping your referrer log on your web-site.
