You may not realize, but "libraries are the new language". Seriousely, what good is a cool language if you have to reinvent the wheel everytime you want to have something like a report printer with print preview - a bit upset on python, with which I'm fighting right now to get something nice for a business app, I would really like something like jasper reports for python. Drawing on the DC with wx sucks for more then one form, and using reportlab to generate pdfs sucks as well. I've settled on doing a mono-platform hack, generating html with simpletal and calling its print preview dialog through ActiveX.
Gnome is quite pretty, you just need to spend some time customizing it. There's a ton of themes with new window borders, controls and icons to explore, and most of them will get you a really nice desktop to work with.
You probably assume that CPS is written in PHP, which is not. I'm not familiar with CPS, but I am familiar with Plone, a somewhat related project. Zope, the underlying framework forces you to declare a security permission for every accesible method. Even XSS type of vulnerabilities would be extremely hard to find, as the CMF filters the dangerous html tags in content items(applet, script, iframe, etc). And while it's possible to create proxies for python scripts to run under a different priviledge, the framework also makes it easy to have validators for that script, so you can check for mailicious actions. Sure, there a few security related fixes in the Plone project, but I don't know yet of any exploit, as oposed to PHP counterparts, Mambo, Drupal, xoom and nukes.
For better or worse, Zope is certainly not an obscure platform. Sure, it's not PHP, but it's the most popular framework in the Python world and it's a really nice application server. Check out Plone to see what it's been done with it.

I think id and the others have an interest on having their engine run on more than one platform (think consoles). CivIV is still a PC only game.
I can attest to that. Several years ago I've gone from complete clueless about python to having created, in a month, an app created with PythonCard, distributed with py2exe and innotools installer, COM communication with Word and Excel, temp storage with cPickle. It seems a more "hands on" approach, but it's actually very flexible and easy.
Right now I've started a new version of that app, this time using wxGlade and I'm loving it. Python + wxWidgets = love
You are either ignorant to what a real open source framework would represent (limit code reinvention, benefit from community effort, etc) or are not in the target group of such a framework (maybe you work for a big company that has a large programming team, who knows). Either way, I can tell you that, from my personal experience, learning and adopting a framework in your work can have a lot of benefits, for me, as a small custom business solutions provider.
There is Zim, Newton, WikiPad and my favorite, Tomboy. I can honestly say that Tomboy changed the way I work. And it's just a very simple note taking with wiki linking feature that runs in the sys tray and opens all pages inside a new window on your desktop.
I don't know what's special about analytics, but if there's anything noteworthy, I hope the open source alternatives, such as awstats or webalizer will pick the ideas and offer versions that will not depend on a third party such as google.
And hell, why doesn't google releases this thing (or at least a lite version) as open source for the webmasters?
I used to be a big advocate of privoxy, before there was the adblock extension. Now I'm content with firefox. One thing I didn't really like about privoxy was that it was a bit hard to setup right and on a slow link it gave the impression that it blocks the pages.
Yes, and content structure is more important then presentation. Do not mix the presentation into the content. Next time when you'll try integrating Word html into an existing website, "congratulate" Microsoft on making this task an easy one.
I doubt a free software can replace one that costs millions. But I believe that OS software can replace comercial ones that cost 50k - 200k. (Plone being such an example)
There is a freeware or shareware that is java based I believe, I found it about a year ago, I've tried it and now I can't find it anymore. It allows you to hand-draw boxes and ui elements and connect them to each other to make a working UI prototype. Anyone knows what I'm talking about?

And where's netscape now?
I didn't knew anti-spyware software could remove viruses, or, for that matter, detect viruses. But what do I know, it's not like I've used any.

What's wrong with integrating the user folder with ldap? This is pretty well documented and doesn't need anything extra
I'm not sure about the others, but your requirements are met by Plone + open source extensions.
Almost all your points are met by Plone 2.1 with the Lingua Plone extension. I'm using it to create multilanguage sites and it works great.
What about using your girlfriend's mobile to ring yours? Too non-geeky? :-)

give me easy adblock for opera linux, and I'm game.

I agree. Still, the KDE framework is really sweet.
That app you have in your signature is really cool! ;) Thanks. I'm gonna use it just now to skin a Plone.
why, because, like 2 days ago, slashdot decided to move from html 3.2 to xhtml? :)

Thank you, mr/mrs AC. That's what I've been looking for!
