You'll find the same with the forex market and other dodgy investment schemes.
Trading and investing is basically a game of "who is the better legal scammer". At it's core, it's a game with it's own rules and dirty (but legal) tricks and unsportsmanlike behavior.
I put your mistake down to getting married. If you're not making enough money for the lady now in charge of your life, it can only go downhill and put you in further debt.
It's the scam app that costs money, and it's getting preference in the Windows store above the real VLC. Ripping off the same witches-hat icon and everything.
I was looking at some scam app in the Windows Store on my Windows 8.1 machine. It's getting preference over the real VLC and they're using the same VLC icon.
On my Windows 8.1 desktop, I can get VLC for free In the world of Metro, I can get the same app for $3.99 Same device and everything.
I understand the need to recoup some funds for developing this, but..... why bother when the desktop version is free? What does the metro version really get you? Do RT users really matter?
Just out of curiosity, I found the MAME simulated version of Monaco GP before it was removed from MAME. It's from some hacked version of MAME 0.127
The game simulation was buggy in that state (poor collision detection, no analog controls, no gears working, cars not staying on bridge, ice doesn't slip car, extended play message stays on the screen) Since it was bugged you could play it and cheat until you reached a max score of 9999, at which point the score stays at 9999 and you enter a seemingly infinite tunnel that never ends.
Not sure if the original machine ever did that. Perhaps the thread starter became good enough at the game to confirm?
For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon."
In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:
1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.
3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue.
For some reason you would simply accept this.
4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads.
6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light.
7. The airbag system would ask "Are you sure?" before deploying.
8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.
9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
10. You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off."
I wonder if we'll ever see a simulation of this discrete logic gem? (likely inspired by the terrible Sly Stallone 70s movie of the same name) This game was doing the whole "running over people in cars" thing long before Carmageddon and GTA. It came with it's own brand of controversy too.
It definitely had no CPU. If it did, MAME would have kept it in their list of emulated machines.
In fact, there was once a point in MAME history where they were including discrete circuit "simulations" including PONG and a semi-functional version of Monaco GP. Then they decided to concentrate onto emulation and drop the simulations, hence their simulation of "Pong" and "Monaco GP" disappeared in later versions.
The Monaco GP simulation looked like the real deal, but had controller issues and a few other things IIRC.
Here's the source for that claim:

Are you kidding? This is the Surface running joke!
Yes, well that they'd be cloning that "Unreal Tournament" game, but it could show off the engine at least!

The US couldn't implode, because it could just keep printing dollar bills.
US currency won the cold war. Take that away and.....
How would one claim plausible deniability?
"Your honor, I was simply transmitting random ASCII to a friend! He replied with random PETSCII!"

...or rather how Windows Store gave the greenlight to a scam app, and put it first on the list of apps above the real one.
I didn't buy them, but they were the first things that appeared when you do a search for vlc on the Windows Store.
We could discuss the amount of crap on the windows store that Microsoft lets on there, but....
It's the scam app that costs money, and it's getting preference in the Windows store above the real VLC. Ripping off the same witches-hat icon and everything.
Maybe you can mod my original post down?
STOP THE PRESSES.

*SIGH*
Funny. I'm getting "Buy" or "Try" from the Windows store for $3.49
Could be that I'm in Australia, and not only do we get ripped off on all technology products... but free apps as well!
So let me get this straight.
On my Windows 8.1 desktop, I can get VLC for free
In the world of Metro, I can get the same app for $3.99
Same device and everything.

It's starting to look as if the pilot went suicidal and took his plane and passengers with him. Not the first time this has happened unfortunately.
Rob Hubbard actually ripped off a track by "Synergy" called "Shibolet"... although to be fair he improved on it for the Commodore 64 rendition.
I think the OP means the PC game.
This was done on the C64 with Invade-a-Load. You'd play a tiny space invaders game while the actual game you wanted to play loaded from cassette.

I remember Rocky's Boots and having my cursor eaten by the alligator before I zapped it with the electric fence.
Yep. Had to be done.
Hey, the game is just like one of those crappy type-in games from the magazines back in the day anyway. I don't understand the hype.

In case you or anyone is interested, someone has made an entertaining simulation of the game, but you need some bin files in order to get it to work.

I don't have modpoints right now, but I would mod you up.
Monaco GP and the Pro version PLEASE!
My 5 year old inner-child begs for it to be done!
