So your saying you don't allready have a fulltime security staff to protect your distributed very confidential data stored on various places and files in a windows context?
I'm sorry, but if you truly consider this secure and practical, I suggest you stick with it.
I'm not impressed.
Really, you could automate that much better using web forms.
If you have to do a mailmerge in word everytime you want to send something out, you're just wasting taxpayers' money.
You're blaming grandparent for not knowing what he is talking about, but what do you mean with : "They also have to save that form data, which could not be done with a web form..." Can you kindly explain what's the point of filling out a webform wich can't be saved ?
Not really a mirror, but some pics from this case are at anantech. They took them while visting Computex.
Just wanted to mention it since zalman.com and hexus.net are currently down.
While I do sympatise with you and your friend, I do believe your logic is skewed.
If you're going to use economics to make a point, you should use it right. Make an assumption of the cost generated by accidents from drunk driving, and compare that to the total cost of equipping every car with this system.
I mean, it's just a kid. His expensive Ipod was dead, he prolly panicked. And he messed with stuff he knew nothing about. It's a stupid accident I have to admit. But isn't mucking about with stuff you don't (yet) understand one of the trademarks of the true hacker?
Cut him some slack. It could well be possible he could've gotten the moist out before the oxidation got too worse. With a bit of luck he could have re-assembled it and be listening to it right now. He's learned a lot of things now, maybe he'll do better in the future.
Before you call it funny, it happened in Belgium. The belgian postal service set up a mailinglist which they used to warn people on new worms spreading. Only staff members had the right to post, guess somebody messed up because the Lirva virus got spread by this list. (Translation of ZDnet article).
Well , I must admit I haven't had any personal experience with this specific referrer-spam problem. But I 've tried the php module and think it learns pretty fast. Maybe i should experiment with the referred script and some URL little later.
Personally I think it's as good as any solution because it will be smarter and more adaptive than most word-filter ideas mentioned in this thread. Furthermore, you raised a valid point. A url is quite limited to filter. But maybe the script could get the referring page and filter that content too?
You could write a module that would check entries from your referrer log.
The best way to check if it's spam would be with a bayesian filter.
Sure , it will take some coding / training the filter but this seems to me like the best option.
Just tested it, and it works like it's described in the other posts. You could just as well use the find function of windows to look for media files.
Furthermore it doesn't seem to be able to recognise all file sharing software. It got Azureus and Shareaza but didn't get eXeem Lite.
From the site: PuTTY is a free SSH client developed by Simon Tatham and others. This page contains a port to the Symbian OS, with support for Series 60 (Nokia 3650, 6600, and N-Gage) and Nokia 9200 Communicator series (Nokia 9210, 9210i, and 9290). The current version contains SSH protocol support, terminal emulation, and a basic user interface. More documentation is available in the distribution. I would check out the docs if I were you.
Actually it's a mechanical system that prevents elevators from falling down. See here.
Elevators werent popular when they first came out. People wouldn't trust is so they were only used for lifting goods. After the invention of the second brake system mentioned on HSW they became accepted by the general audience.
Normally you would get a raise when you get older. So there's a difference in the wages nurses get.
In this system the lowest bidder wins.
Will the nurses agree on a (informal) minimum-wage, and what will happen when none of the nurses really needs the cash and decides to go under it ?
This is not ebay where venders and buyers are 'anonymous' , I would expect a lot of competition between staff members would come from this.
The fact that it is a browser doesn't mean it's only fit for web. Suppose you have a intranet-site on a local network wich serves your business applications.
I'm not happy with this situation. Mind you , every belgian allready has a Sis-card. They say you need that card to get medicines, but with a bit extra paperwork you can get everything anyway.
I'll guess it'll be the same with this. The minute I recieve this card I'll put it in the microwave for a few seconds. I'll still have id, since it's printed on the card, but I won't be carrying that extra data with me.
What's really funny : it's just another trick. The top-search doesn't lead you to the results of this search, like with other search-engines.
Instead it leads you to a advertisement for a spyware remover. This software looks terrible, and to download it you have to pay: "Instant Download- only $59.95 one time charge".
So it's not that a lot of users used this site to search for a removal tool, more that whoever made this is trying to scam his victms a bit more.
You see this is what I don't like about ISP's, they're not too shy about taking the money from those mom's & pop's wnating to see their (grand)childeren on the intarweb.
Sometimes the ISP's even advertise the protection against viruses in their advertising campains, wich usually only means protection of your email-inbox. In belgium they even install high-bandwith dsl or cable on that crappy unpatched, non-firewalled win98 box. Free service they call it, the tech dude comes over hooks your pc up and has leaves the house if the 'ipconfig' worked. So when the shit comes down, they take the money, blame the hackers and live happy ever after.
Uhm , why does everyone assume it's about rendering frames rather than doing calculations? As a previous poster mentioned, it would take far too much bandwith to send the data to calculate a whole frame. I would assume the textures alone would be to much for an avagare home-PC. We're really talking about calculating 'pixels' here. Als far as the screensaver concerns, I think you can consider yourselves lucky if your background colo(/u)r changes according to your last produced pixel.

Ajax Web App (Crashed / burnt)

Next time the have a problem, they can simply call you. And you guide them by phone trough the ghost restore. You could also write a small howto.

Download mirrors are still doing fine :

That would qualify as "mission critical".

This is modded as insightful? You're kidding, right?
It isn't "stealing". It's called "copyright infringement".

As mentioned before, the heat stays in your lappy.
This cooler (active) or this cooler (passive) look like better alternatives.

Yes, if they are salty peanuts, people will drink more.
You don't get out much , do you ?
