Carrying it around isn't. That's why motor vehicles run on fuel that burns in air instead of a self-contained explosive despite such a thing being available in the late 19th century.
There is plenty on the net about using air when it is available and other things when it is not. Single stage to orbit sounds "simple" but requires moving a lot of leftover mass so why not use the best tool for the job in different conditions instead of a compromise? I don't know about this thing but the scramjet is very promising under some conditions.
Get some perspective - they have to heard about the pyramid scheme and care enough before bothering to go looking. Whoever nominated him has serious problems in keeping things in perspective - guys your grubby little hobby is not earthshaking and is a million miles away from the initial dreams of a viable digital currency. Without trust it's just a temporary token to aid in exchange of real currencies.
The copy of Internet Explorer on many machines sucks so badly that it helpfully runs code on webpages that tell it to install and run the malware. All the user has to do is click on a link in an email in MS Outlook or webpage in IE to start off the process. Ridiculous in 2015, stupid in 2005, not all that clever in 1995 so it seems we have to put up with this shit forever no matter how many times developers are warned not to do stupid shit in networked software.
The technically is that you are trusting someone who has carried out a criminal act on you already.
If you don't have good backups the nature of the malware is that it writes out an encrypted copy of a file, deletes the original, and then goes on to the next one. In a lot of circumstances a file undelete program such as "photorec" can get the original files back, but it can be time consuming since the names of the files are lost.
The actual elections are mostly run at the county (or parish) level
Which has clearly become completely unworkable. There's so many stupid barriers to entry and general fucking about which prevents citizens from doing their duty of voting and mostly relegates the process to the people who love to play political games. For example, nobody should be turned away due to lack of resources, that's a sign of the sort of election the UN wouldn't call fair if it was in an emerging nation. Fuckups like the "hanging chad", the many problems with Diebold machines and a long, long list are a sign that the system has been gamed to the point where those running it are not capable of doing so. It's a situation where you can use volunteers FFS - so how the fuck do you run out of people to run it and have voters queuing for hours, even when only a tiny portion of the citizens even bother to get off their arse to do their duty and vote?
Don't knock it - it worked as designed so provided enough uncertainty to give you Baby Bush instead of Gore. Paper and pencil results in less uncertainty so makes it less possible to argue against "undesirable" results.
Such a fuckup that was an international laughing stock was not corrected because the winner gained benefit from the fuckup. Having a professional independent body run things, such as the US does when supervising other countries elections on behalf of the UN, would be far better for the country than each state governor skewing things as much as can be gotten away with to help their side win. The irony is the man behind the "chads" scam has the gall to nominate for President, but since tollbooth guy and bankrupt four times guy are running from his own party I've got no idea what standards or total lack thereof are supposed to apply.
Of course there is - it provides a place to work for ex-cons not permitted to work on Automated Teller Machines (Diebold) and hypothetically makes electoral fraud a lot easier for those very closely connected to such a company (Diebold make no secret of which Party they want to win). Going back over a century there are plenty of nasty little games around elections designed to get advantage - these machines are just the current bit of sleazyness.
While Ars Magica rewards those who stay locked up in the lab for ten years and don't do the mission at all:) I love that game, but it is up to the GM to drag the characters out kicking and screaming from their comfortable lives and deal with danger.
Very likely yes, but that doesn't matter because nearly every glass is stronger than nearly every steel under ideal conditions. What usually matters is toughness since most glasses can't take much of an impact.
If it's just pure load and the surface of the glass is perfectly smooth with not much in the way of internal defects then you can sit something on top of a block of glass that would damage a block of steel. In tension it's often stronger as well - unless a tiny scratch opens up into a crack and then it's going to break at a low load. That's why glass is used as reinforcing in "fibreglass" plastics - strong and the brittleness doesn't matter so much when the fibre diameter is about the size of a critical crack and the plastic is there to absorb the energy of impacts.
Not changing it is a severe continuity error that is just annoying. It's like having Cortez show up, conquer everything, but have it all reset with the Aztec empire continue on waving spears around as if nothing had happened.
And, an authoritarian regime is able to do whatever is necessary to achieve its goals.
Yes but the downside, as seen with Mao, is that they are free to do just about anything even if it is a very stupid idea that kills millions of it's own citizens. That example keeps them thinking about their choices to an extent but there is far less correcting feedback like what happens in a Democracy.
The big problem with making a good movie is that there's too much reliance on special effects and too little on acting. And both Heinlein and Asimov were more about psychology than technology even though the technology was a hook to hang the story on in their books it was never the main thing.
Last year "Predestination" was made based on Heinlein's "All You Zombies", and it works on the strength of good acting (Sarah Snook does an amazing job, Ethan Hawk went for a weird accent but ignore that and the rest is excellent). The special effects are a case with a combination lock and some current hobby electronics turning up a few decades earlier than they normally should (clue not continuity error for once!). The Heinlein Space Corps idea also makes an appearance as background thing done cleverly with costumes and setting. Close to zero reliance on special effects or weird props. I liked it and think that's the way such stories should be presented. It's not quite the same as the book but I think it works better as a movie due to the addition.
Q? Well acted, but still a universe changing plot device that does not change the universe gets a bit old after the third time. Farscape saw that failing in Trek and took that plot weakness head on:
Crichton: Godlike aliens, man, do I hate godlike aliens! I'll trade a critter for a godlike alien any day!
It's often not ignorance, it's just being an asshole and only caring about the spot where to cool air hits. My neighbours ended up with two of theirs up on a wall three feet away blowing hot air directly in two of my windows - the installer was an utter prick.
Have you considered that the above poster may not have been discussing the end of the war, just as the comment about Russian tanks around 1940 was not at the end of the war. The big clue is the line "Yeah, the german tanks where better *then*".
As for racism in the GOP, this is the same GOP that ended slavery
Somehow I get the impression that Lincoln would spit on Trump and chase tollbooth guy out of town. There are very few that would belong in "the same GOP that ended slavery".
Nothing to see here - budding student political types are always looking for causes to make noise about and be noticed. Some causes are valid, some just look like they are an easy option. I suspect this is the latter. Saying "be nice to each other" is so much easier than building a child care centre, sorting out transport hassles for students with the local government, or doing something for depressed students.
This obsession over something so utterly trivial would make some sort of sense if it's a title you aspire to, do not have and are jealous that others are described that way. It's a guess, but it kind of makes me think that if you had studied harder in high school you may have ended up as one of my students in the 1990s instead of just being jealous of those who were:) Kind of pathetic don't you think? Such a fixation over something so trivial as a universally accepted job title that makes you jealous.

Arrest is a much bigger deal in China than most readers would think since it leads to a 99+% conviction rate.

The wall didn't work for the Chinese so why do people think it's going to work this time?

Never works - they just have a book on their shelf with your sticker on it.
That's what he needs for contingency plans and backup plans. Batman never ponders where he left the Bat Shark Repellent - he just knows :)
Yes.
Pretty well everyone back in the day who read newspapers would fit that broad description of space nerd.

The insane and ex-cons with a violent record have trouble getting guns - so insane gun control :)

Yes, go ahead and save 2% instead of 2000% over lithium. Are people here just being triggered by key words or are they reading?
